Riza's eyes shoot open and she starts breathing heavily.
Her lungs hurt as she draws breath like it's the first time.
With wide eyes she looks into the cloudless sky.
"What happened?" Riza tries to collect her memories but everything is a blur.
The Sun is shining on the rolling hills around her.
Slowly Riza stands up. Her whole body is sour. With slow movements she tries to get rid of the stiffness in her joints.
Riza looks down. To her confusion, her armour is heavily charred.
A little dizzy, she starts wandering towards the sound of flowing water close by. A little stream crosses the field.
Falling on her knees, Riza is tasting the crystal clear water.
With her thirst quenched she follows the flow of the water.
A gut feeling lets Riza follow the little stream.
The surrounding hills are unfamiliar to her as she tries to find any point of reference to her location.
After walking for about half an hour the little stream flows into a small lake.
"It's quite beautiful here." Riza sighs as she looks around. "A short rest wouldn't hurt."
Glancing over the clear lake she removes her armour, keeping only her dagger on her person, and hides it under some stones before slowly walking into the lake.
The water feels amazing for her sore muscles.
For almost a full hour Riza is floating and swimming in the lake.
As she's walking out of the water a strange tattoo she has never seen before is glowing on her shoulders.
Concerned, she inspects the tattoo in her reflection on the water.
A delicate weaving of symbols, branches, weapons and feathers spans from the base of her head over the back of her neck to her left shoulder blade.
Riza puts on her armour again and walks around the lake.
The sun has begun to descend towards the horizon.
Travelling past the lake and over a little hill she can see smoke on the horizon.
It takes about an hour of walking before Riza can see a village on the side of a big well travelled road.
After a short look into her coin purse she decides to look for a place to stay for the night.
It's almost sundown as Riza arrives at the village. The journey of the day weighs her down and her body feels heavy and tired.
After a little bit of asking around she finds the local tavern. The Building seems old but well kept. As she enters a jolly dwarf behind the counter greets her with a wide smile.
"Good evening lassy. What can I get yer?"
His long red beard vibrates as he speaks.
Riza walks to the counter and sits down on a chair. "Something to eat, something to drink and somewhere to sleep would be great." She answers tired.
The dwarf gives a nod. "Yer came to the right place." He starts filling a tankard and points to a table. "Take a seat. I'll bring yer everything."
Riza walks over to the table leaving a silver piece on the countertop. Shortly after the dwarf comes over and slides a wooden tablet on the table. "Here is yer food and drink. Also here is a key for room twelf."
Riza nods and begins to eat.
The dwarf is looking curious but decides to go back to polishing glasses.
After finishing her plate Riza feels her body shutting down from exhaustion.
Her head hits the table and she starts snoring.
