[Sensitive Content] This piece of mine is for all of those who have a weird guy in their classroom or in their school. You know, that one kid who never talks to anyone, acts outside of normality, speaks too little or too much, is a bit erratic, or is simply just…weird. Now suppose they try to strike up a conversation with you, you feel uncomfortable, but you decide to talk with them anyway. But the next day, you don’t bother talking to them, or you give them that side-eye glance and then walk away a little faster. What’s wrong lad, feel familiar? If it does, then pull up a chair, for I happen to be a weird kid. Allow me to tell you how it’s like to be that kid. You may believe they’re just off in their little world, but they could actually be thinking of huge things that you would soon wish you’ve listened to. They may say something weird or scary like… “Is heaven just something to comfort us?” You’d walk away, but you would see people asking for copies of his work or you could see him writing books and essays for fun. You may believe that I am out of it, but I am fully aware of my surroundings and am actively trying to interact with you properly. But you still give that kid the cold shoulder, but what if you were asked why you treat them this way? You’d probably say… “He just weirds me out” Or... “He makes me uncomfortable” But what exactly makes you feel uncomfortable? What’s wrong, can’t come up with an answer? If you can, then would you be ready for any contradictions that anyone may spot in your reasoning? Do you have any idea how badly people like me wish to talk amongst you, hang out, mingle, or simply be amongst you without any special or negative treatment? You may say normal is stupid or overrated, but people like me are desperate for it. What about those SPED kids in the strange chairs, hobbling around, and singing nursery rhymes? To be frank, having a mental or physical disorder of any kind is life locked on Hard Mode. You may think it's hard to live your life but imagine what they are going through. If they are not walking normally, then they are having great difficulty walking like you. If their speech does not make any sense or seems rude, then they could spend night after night indescribably frustrated at themselves because they find it impossible to speak like a god damn human being for once. If they eventually overcome their mental and physical abnormalities and get as close to normality as they’ll ever get, they’ll come out stronger than you’ll be if you think that life is easy for them. They are having a very difficult time understanding, comprehending, interpreting, and even interacting with our world as you frolick and worry about your grades. If you ask such people for favors over and over again, or if you knowingly use them for popularity points and self-gain because I know that there is a f***ed up social rule that says you’ll be popular if you befriend a SPED. If you use them, then you’re just evil. If you don’t care to do anything about it, then you won’t get far in life thinking you’re never wrong. How about talking to them for a change? A daily hello? Or even telling them to “keep it up with the good work? Hell, you could even become great friends with one of us without worrying about our mental and physical limitations. If you already do this, then you’re on the right track. I wrote this article to address the issue.

I've written this to aggressively confront the stigmas that wrap around SPED students. I used to be a special needs student who has constantly been used, tossed around, and manipulated for the morbid enjoyment of others. After seeing the same thing happen to other SPED students as a high schooler, I wrote this and got instantly noticed by the principal who wanted to put it on a poster.

A collection of my shorter stories and such. I am working on something bigger but I'll just leave stuff here for now.
