During the investigation of one of the local cemeteries, Janette was practically surrounded by restless spirits. And of course Austin had to be the one to provoke the head honcho. Good thing Jackson was there to be her bodyguard.
Austin almost had an attachment by a hag but Janette insisted that she cleaned him with sage and prayers. To which, it worked and repelled the hag. As they drove back to Janette's place, she noticed Rich was eager to get back.
'Ohhh, she's gonna break his heart after her "fun time" isn't she?' She thought sympathetically as she tried to restrain Rich from speeding and yelling at pedestrians.
When they finally made it there, Alastor and Arabella were at the front door waiting for her.
"We are happy to report that we've done an amazing job in our tasks."
And it was true. Alastor had mowed the lawn, trimmed the hedges in the shapes of majestic stags, does and their fawns, and other such creatures. There was a sturdy metal barred fence around the pond and Sal. The garden had been planted and grown with Janette's three favorite types of flowers. Iris's, Gardianas, and Blue Roses.
Janette looked astonished at the lawn. Even though it was dark outside, there were still garden lights that lit up the entire yard. And with the peaceful sounds of nature, it truly felt like paradise. She also found that the shingles were replaced with black sturdy ones. The house's ivory invaders were destroyed and the house was newly painted in a nice shade of scarlet red with sapphire blue trim.
"Alastor! This is beautiful! You and Arabella did a fantastic job! Did you call an electrician and pick out an interior decorator company?" Janette asked as she stared with wonder in her eyes.
"He insisted that we do everything in red. But I told him that it was your house now and that she would appreciate your favorite flowers and color for the place. Fortunately he listened to me when I said that you would give him a "reward" for it all~. And speaking of rewards.... Ri~ch~" Arabella cat called.
"Yes Ara~?"
"I'm going to barf now. Goodbye." Alastor turned and walked away. He didn't leave them alone though as his shadow was watching with hostile intent towards a certain male in the vicinity. Austin could feel it too, like he was being hunted by something much stronger. He was the prey..
"Well, I'll see you guys next time! Get home safe Austin and Ri.... Rich?" Rich along with Arabella we're gone with a single note on the ground. Janette picked it up.
"Me and Richie are going to have fun in the bayou~. Just tell Austin to come get him around tomorrow afternoon~ Good luck with Al~"
----Arabella
'Oh boy....' Janette thought to herself worryingly. She then handed the note to Austin.
"How did they even... I hadn't seen any other cars-" He jumped as he thought he saw something. "Sh- Janette. Are you going to be ok here alone? Something is seriously wrong with those people that were here.."
Janette gave him a patient smile. "It's alright. I trust them. Honestly they're not just workers, but part of my Aunt Elenore's family. They're also my roommates. So it's fine. Anyways, drive home safe. And make sure that the Channel company loads and edits those episodes. Okay?"
"Yeah... Just... be careful?" He asked as he opened the door to the van.
As he drove off, Janette went inside. "Alastor? Can you come here for a minute?" She called out.
"Yes my dear?" The demon appeared beside her, his shadow returning to him.
It was then that she crossed her arms and gave him a stern look. "Alastor. Why were you trying to hunt my friend?"
"I have no clue what you are speaking of, my dear. I was inside making dinner."
She narrowed her eyes dangerously. "It wasn't just now, but it was also when you greeted him. You think I'm an idiot?! .... If you don't want holy water to give you food poisoning tonight, then you'd better fess up bucko!"
"..."
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, his forever smile dropping for the first time. "I don't know why... that human just rubs me the wrong way. He is a threat to me and all threats must be..." His shadow slit its throat. "Yes. Eliminated."
Janette gave a cold and scolding glare at the shadow. To which it slightly shrank behind Alastor. "Regardless. He's not a threat. A little rude, brash, idiotic, and hard headed sometimes. But hey. I've come to learn that no matter which dimension they come from, males will be males." She gave a snarky but knowing look with a brow raised at him.
He didn't really get why she was looking at him like that. "He is a threat to me. Not physically, but he is threatening me." Alastor replied. "Are you hungry? I wasn't kidding about dinner." His smile returned.
She rolled her eyes, sensing his cluelessness. 'Must be a nature kingdom alpha male dominance thing. Oh well, I'll just keep them away from each other.'
But she smiled regardless. "Well yes, yes I am. And as for your reward for doing a great job for fixing the house...." She gave him a hug. Normally he wouldn't like anyone touching him unless he initiated it. But what she said and did next tugged his heart strings just a tad and made him a blushing mess.
"Thanks. Smiley Buckeroo." She then pecked him on the cheek. She let go and headed towards the kitchen. "C'mon, let's eat!"
"V-very well.." 'I won't let him take you from me, Janette.' He promised himself.
