Time skip to the next morning.
Janette woke up early and made sure that an electrician and interior decorator was called. Which they were. The electrician was supposed to come out later that afternoon. And the decorators were supposed to come out later in the morning around 8:30 a.m.
Once the time came, and the gates alarm went off, she let them in and was pleasantly surprised to see some old friends.
"Theressa? Evalyn? And Valroy? What're you guys doing here?"
"I should say the same to you my dear old friend! I didn't know you were rich!" The man named Valroy exclaimed, hugging her. He was decently tall with yellow orange short hair in a navy blue business suit with pale white skin. While one woman was a bit big. Not fat, just big boned and was at a decent height. She had long platinum blonde hair with kind light blue eyes and had a flowery warm outfit on. Her healthy white skin seemed to glow. While the other female was very tall and skinny. She honestly looked like a supermodel with her long white hair with dyed flamed ends and cat-like red eyes. She wore black jeans and a long black shirt. Her skin seemed ghostly white as her hair. A "haunting" beauty.
Alastor immediately poked his head in upon hearing another male. "Oh! You must be the interior decorators. Start wherever, I'm sure Janette will have a place for you to begin. Oh! Before you begin, save the attic for last, I have to "clean up" a little in there." That meaning he had to keep Selene from throwing a fit on them and throwing random crap at them. It's happened before in the past.
"Jannie, is he your boyfriend~?" The tall woman asked with a giggle. The male's eyes seemed to widen in terror. "Oh dear stars. She's finally done it. Your mother broke you down and got you a "suitor" didn't she?!"
"No Valroy. He's not a suitor. Or my boyfriend Evalyn!" She pointed sternly to the tall giggling female.
Alastor was quickly denying it as well, waving his arms in front of him. "Oh dear heavens, no. I'm asexual. I'm merely helping her around the estate." He quickly rushed up the stairs to hide the forming blush. 'I AM asexual... right?' That's what he'd always thought.
*Interesting fact! Just because you're asexual doesn't mean that you can't think romantically or have the desire to have it.*
Evalyn giggled at the retreating Alastor. "He seems like a good fit. I'm guessing that it was you who found him instead of your mother? Cuz honestly he doesn't seem to fit the bill with what her "ideals" have in a man." Janette cringed at remembering all the men that seemed too stuffy or sexist.
"Regardless. We're glad to see you again dear friend." The blonde woman known as Theressa piped in.
"And we're so happy to help you find whatever you need for this place." Valroy chirped.
"Alright! First things first. We definitely have to look at the choices for the doors of the house and the wood flooring!" Evalyn noted out as she demonstrated by lightly stepping on a creaky floor board.
Janette giggled. "Yes, just come this way and we can discuss what needs to go where and then I'll show you the rest of the house. Meanwhile you can also tell me how the rest of the gang are doing if you're still in touch?" She said hopefully.
"Of course dear. We usually message and text each other back and forth from time to time. We often get together for old times sake and hang out. You should join us sometime when you're free." Theressa offered.
Janette beamed in delight. "That would be wonderful!"
"And maybe you can introduce that new man of yours~" Evalyn teased. Janette groaned. "He's not my boyfriend! He's a worker and my roommate. That's all!" 'Right...?' Janette was starting to doubt with how sweet Alastor has been recently. And how reconnecting with him did bring up old feelings for the "imaginary friend".
"Mhmm, sure~" Evalyn purred out teasingly.
Janette groaned again and the old friends laughed with each other. You see, while Janette didn't have many friends as a child besides Alastor. She did make a lot of friends in middle and high school. These friends formed the Paranormal Club. Where they would discuss anything paranormal, offer thoughts, debates, and yes, even investigations to haunted places. Valroy, Theressa, and Evalyn were part of the group. But as they graduated high school and college. Life just seemed to get in the way of things. But now, they can hang out again!
As they discussed the plans for decorating and renovations, they visited each of the rooms and gave their criteria on what would look best. After they left, Janette sat down to look over the notes.
A boy, maybe 14, poked his head in. "Miss caretaker..?" This was Lial. He was the most recent resident of the house, having died in it before Elenore got the place. He was tall for his age and wore an anime fan shirt with black sweatpants. His hair was dirty blonde with light hazel eyes.
Janette looked up from her notes. "Yes? And you are...?"
"Um... Lial. I, uh, I stay on the third floor? Um... do you have to, uh, change up my room..?" He seemed a bit socially awkward.
"We might have to. But it's not going to be much. Replacing old doors and floors, maybe getting a new mattress and clean sheets. As for wall color it might need to be spruced up with how it's chipping. And maybe some air leak proof windows so it won't be too cold or hot.... Is there something you want to keep?" She asked gently.
"The, uh, I'm... the mattress... er, more specifically the hand crafted quilt on the, um... mattress..."
"The quilt is the item he's attached to. It was the covering he'd died with." Alastor explained for the boy, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. Lial nodded, smiling gratefully at the demon.
"Well of course I wouldn't get rid of it. I'll be sure to leave it out of harm's way when the renovations people come by. In fact, now that I think about it, tell the other spirits that I need their items as well so that they won't be thrown away. Okay?" Janette said with an encouraging smile.
Lial nodded.
"Have Rosaline help you. And Bran and Ben." Alastor added. Lial nodded again and ran off. "Here, this is Sarah's." Alastor handed over a small butterfly necklace. "I'd fished it out of the pond for her and she told me to give it to the next caretaker." He explained.
"Oh okay, thanks! I'll put the objects in my room on the first floor until the renovation people need to do my room. I'm saving it for last. Right now I'm just looking over the notes that we took and seeing what needs to be rearranged. I also have to look up those special licenses for exotic pets and fencing required..." she reminded herself as brought out her laptop to start searching.
But before she could start, the gate bell rang. Janette checked to see who it was and it turned out to be the electrician and his assistant. "Oh they're early. Oh well..." she let them in and was again surprised to see another friend. "Percia! It's so good to see you again!" The woman was rather short with tied up red poofy hair and fancy styled black rimmed glasses and golden brown eyes while she sported a yellow shirt and blue overalls. The small woman ran and gave Janette a huge hug. "I've missed you! Where have you been?!" Percia asked. The Electrician looked amused at his assistant finally coming out of her shell for once.
Janette nervously chuckled. "Well, a bit everywhere lately. But mostly here. This is my new place." Percia looked around the place. "Geez, just by looking at the place I could tell that it seriously needs updating. Hey Joey? Do you think that we can check the wiring for the wifi on the house?" She asked hopefully.
Alastor watched in mild interest. His Janette seemed to be meeting a lot of old friends today.
"I don't see why not... does this place even have wifi?" Joey asked.
Janette smiled. "Yes it does. My aunt seemed to like online shopping for antiques a lot. But I've been borrowing her old wifi, I need my wifi provider to help me with that. They sent me the essentials on how to do it myself but I have no clue on where to begin. And the wiring to this old place makes me nervous to even touch it..." She explained worriedly.
"What providers do you have?" Percia curiously asked.
"Central Louisiana Co."
"Well that explains a lot. They have crappy customer service. Here, Joey and I will plug in our provider's wifi in, on the house. As long as you give a horrible review on the others' website?" She said with wiggling brows.
Janette laughed. "Of course. Thank you. The wifi plan doesn't cost much, does it?" She looked to the electrician.
"$60 a month, first month free for new customers." He replied.
"Well that's not bad at all. Okay! Just hand me the papers and I'll sign." The electrician told Percia to get the papers from the van while he asked where to go.
After signing the papers. The Electrician said that it would take three more days to work on that much wiring. She told him the schedule on when everything was going to be renovated and agreed to it.
When they left. Janette was exhausted. She slumped over the chair and tried to take a nap. But the front door opened to find a highly satisfied Arabella. "Hey, you okay? You look drained."
Janette gave her an eye roll. "Drained doesn't even begin to word what I feel.... Where's Rich?"
Arabella gave a cheeky smirk. Which had Janette worried.
"Don't worry. I didn't kill him. Just fucked his brains out~ he is quite the specimen. Let me tell you~" she said as she sprawled out on the couch.
"He's going to be my new call boy~ we're meeting two days from now." Arabella purred out.
"But that still doesn't tell me where he is..."
"Oh! Yeah! I left him outside the gates. His friend should be here any minute to pick him up."
"... Am I going to have to worry about little half breed succubi running around the place?" Janette asked tentatively.
Arabella looked surprised and then laughed. "No honey. When it comes to these types of things, certain specifics and conditions must be met in order for that to happen. And I'm only going out with him until both of us find someone better. Right now, we're just taking care of each other's "needs" and he seems like a good guy. That way I won't have to go hunting for people who aren't creeps. So, it's a win-win."
Janette pinched the bridge of her nose in agitation.
"More importantly you should be more concerned with how Al feels about YOU." Arabella pointed out.
"Feels about me..?"
Alastor had disappeared when the succubus came in, in favor of checking on Ben. He had been coming back when he heard Janette. 'What nonsense is she filling her head with now?'
"Please tell me that you haven't realized that he's got it BAD for you." Arabella questioned.
"W-what... well, I seem to notice how he's a little territorial around males. But I think that's just for the house... there's no way he could like someone like me..."
"Do you honestly believe that load of crock shit?"
".... Maybe."
"Uggggghhhhh!!! This is like trying to lead the blind person to another blind person! Listen, despite him having his "flaws" and the fact that he's a demon. Other than that last part. Do you really think you like him and that it could work?" Arabella said seriously.
"..."
She was quiet for a long moment. Presumably thinking.
"In all honesty... when I have those brief moments where I remember my past with him. And the times that I spend with him now. It gives me butterflies in me. And irrational part of me screams that yeah, I like him and that I want to give it a try..... but then the rational part of me lists out all pros and cons to the relationship. More leaning towards the cons. But then it gives me that slight hope that it may favor a little bit towards the pros. I just... don't know what to think. At first it was just a childhood friend/crush that I had on my supposedly "imaginary friend". But even after I stopped visiting him because of my mother. And with all the men that have been in my life till now.... None of them seem to bring out the best in me. The real me... and I wouldn't have a problem with that he's a demon, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm a living human. And I'll age more than him as life goes on. And for whatever reason that I do pass in my youth, will I go to Heaven? Hell? Or stay here in purgatory? I don't know... I really want to have a life with him... I just don't know how...."
Alastor clutched his chest. 'W-what is this feeling? Is this really...? Can I love?'
*Yes, if Sheldon can find love in TBBT, then you sure as hell could!*
Alastor was confused and relieved? He didn't quite know how to explain it, he'd never been loved and he'd never felt love but he wanted to try this, whether it was love or not, out.
"Hmmmm, a real pickle you're in... but I may just have an answer for you."
