Waking up I walked to my kitchen and made some toast, pulling the butter out of the fridge.
“Hey, you're going to your new school today” my mother says from behind.
“Wait what?!” I exclaim almost dropping the cold plastic container of butter on the not so clean floors of my so-called house. I head into my room as my mother plops a blue crested uniform on my bed. I put it on whilst trying to not have a melt down. I am Lora ferro, I am 7 years old and would not be moving schools, but as I ponder my escape plan bt before i could figure out how i'm going to run 10 kilometres my mother yells from the car telling me to hurry up and to “stop sulking and get over it” I put on this strangely proportioned uniform, it was very different from my old uniform. The sleeves were longer and the pants weren't normal, I hated it. I grab my bag and rush to the car. The school gates look like the pillars of hell my old school teacher would teach us about, and this school wasn’t a Lutheran school and didn’t read a bible verse every morning which I find weird. I look around and everyone is talking to their friends. I wanted to talk to someone but I just kept walking. I find my classroom and everyone is again talking to their friends. I sit in the back row but the teacher pulls me out of my seat and sits me in the middle of the front row, great just like my old school. I sit where the teacher directed me and she takes attendance
“Lora, fero?” the teacher calls out to check if i'm here.
“H-here” I said timidly raising my hand, she said my name wrong, none of my old teachers did that but i didn’t want to correct her, i don't like this teacher. She continues to call-out people's names and the bell rings.
“Okay next class everyone, see you in 3rd period!” the teacher calls, students begin to leave the classroom and i follow. This isn’t how it's supposed to be! We Were supposed to stay in the one room all day, not this different room business! And what did miss mean when she said ‘see you in 3rd period’? We have her for the whole day. I walk into class and see a different teacher, who was this man and why was he taking our teachers class?
“Excuse me sir, when will our teacher be here” I said, staring up at this tall man. He looked stunned at my question as if I had asked him where babies come from.
“Well, I am your teacher. This is the first period” he replies, still stuck on my seemingly reasonable question. What? Different teachers, different classrooms, different classes on different days!? This is all too much change. Finally, a melt-down broke. I ran out of the classroom and sat on the floor next to the end of the portracks.
“I want to go back home!” I whined and cried out to the cold morning misty nothingness of this big school. I hate it here! I think I cried super loud as a teacher found me, my eyes were super watery so I couldn't see who it was but from the sound of her voice she sounded nice, maybe it was my start of school teacher!
“Hey, wanna come on a walk with me and tell me what’s wrong?” she asks sweetly, finally! Someone who knew how to deal with melt-downs that wasn’t ignoring me or yelling at me. I walk with her, tears filling my eyes as I tell her everything.
“ Everything has changed for me too quickly! First my mum moved me here, then i have different classes, teachers, even the uniform is weird! I don’t like it here and I want to go home!” I shouted, it felt good talking to her. She was nice, not like my other teachers that are mean to me. We start walking up some steps and my head begins to feel fuzzy.
“Can we head back down? I don't really like it up here” I say to the nice lady, beginning to walk back to the stairs.
“No, no, don't be silly. Mwe will be fine” she says pulling me by the fore-arm back to my starting position, her tone was abrasive and sounded like my mother when you can tell she’s angry but she's trying to hide it. Now that i think of it, this lady sounds a lot like my mother, i look up at her and realise it is my mother! I scream and feel fast winds pushing past me and then everything goes black, and cold. The wind had stopped and I felt a small finger tapping on my shoulder.
