Whisper Whisper Whisper
Chatter and whispers were heard amongst the townsfolk, who wouldn't talk about the strange pair that walked past them? It was the town's weirdo and a strange new player that entered. It was safe to say that Ethel was uncomfortable with the attention, who wouldn't be. Not being able to hear what was being talked about but already having that gut feeling it was about you.
"That ends our tour." Benvi turned to Ethel with his unbothered smile and to be fairly honest, Ethel already forgot half of the information that was given to him. "Thanks." Regardless, Ethel thanked Benvi for spending his time showing the new guy around instead of doing whatever else he could be doing. "No prob roomie!" Benvi walked up to a cottage house, there was a comfortable aura to it that made Ethel feel a little more at ease. Upon entering the house, Ethel's nose was hit with the smell of Benvi's natural scent. It was all over the place, it made sense seeing as Benvi had lived alone all these years.
"I'll show you to your room and I can give you some of my clothes, I think they'll fit." Benvi walked up a flight of stairs with Ethel behind him, this gave Ethel the chance to look around on the upper floor. It was fairly clean but there were a few boxes in corners filled with what seemed to be books. Maybe he was a genius.
"In here. I tried cleaning up after I saw the signal. You know, in case you did accept me into your party. Which you did, so thanks!" Benvi opened the door to a room that smelled like vanilla, the lit candles were a nice touch to the well kept room. A shelf of books sat in the far right corner with a desk beside it, the desk had its pen and ink and a pile of paper. The bed across that desk and shelf was neatly made with green covers that look like they would feel like heaven once laid on, it was impressive. "I'll be back! Make yourself at home."
Benvi exited, getting new clothes for his guest, Ethel sat onto the foot of the bed. This was still a lot to process, there's still no telling if Benvi could be trusted either. "He seems useful but doesn't look to be well liked. If this is really a game, it seems like an rpg one. So there must be some type of guild with jobs right? And taking those would be an opportunity to level up.. If I complete this whole thing, will I be able to leave this place?" Ethel looked around the space around him, thinking about the place he was before. Being in a place like that didn't seem so bad.
"Okay! Here, a couple of clothes for you. We can go shopping to get you pairs of your own." Returning into the room, Benvi placed folded clothes beside Ethel. "Is there a guild in this town?" Ethel asked, picking up a white button up shirt. It looked big enough for him to fit. "A guild? Yeah, I told you about it didn't I? We can go there now and you can meet everyone." Ethel slips his Sonic t-shirt over his head and moves his arms through the rolled up sleeves, he slowly comes to a stop realizing a pair of eyes were on him.
"Can I help you?" He glanced at Benvi who seemed interested in how Ethel looked. "Oh, no.. I've just never seen anyone with a body like yours. You don't seem too muscular but not too small or big. I just think it's pretty interesting. Plus you're hairy." Benvi commented and Ethel scoffed, looking down as he connected the shirt together and fixed the collar. He changed into black pants and tucked the shirt inside, it was a basic look but it made him look good.
"Are we going to take a job?" Benvi questioned while the two exited their home together. "That depends if they are all action jobs. We don't really have any weapons on hand," stated Ethel. He would want a weapon but he doesn't know if there were any blacksmiths around, or if Benvi had some tools himself. "Are there some non-violent jobs?" They entered into the busy building, people that looked like creatures and humans alike conversed with each other. They were seperated into groups that one would assume is their own party.
"Look at the board. There does seem to be jobs that don't require fighting," Benvi walked up to a large board with pinned papers, he picked and took one of the flyers down showing it to Ethel. "Like this one here. The client is requesting assistance on wedding preparations." The request was strange. Why not hire the professionals for a job like that? "What's the reward money?" Ethel question, who knows, maybe there's a good price to it.
"90,000 gold?!" The price seemed to surprise Benvi, they must have been a rich family to offer up a current like that. "Is that good?" questioned Ethel, still being new. "Of course! The golds are really up there. I'll say that this client here is filthy rich." Benvi explained the money system to the newbie, "There's bronze, silver and golds. Bronze is used by the lower class, in other words the homeless. I think it's discounted for food and water. Temporary homes too. Silver is middle class, it's pretty common to come across but golds. Those things are rare and well valued. We'd be counted rich if we completed this job." Rolling in riches sounded like a dream come true, an opportunity that could not be passed up.
"Okay, we'll take it. Let's start heading out."
