Cronus POV:
“Annora,” I woke up screaming out in a pool of sweat.
What, was that? A nightmare? A memory?
Ever since I had reincarnated, memories of my past life have become fuzzy.
Aside from unimportant and random facts, I only had memories of my emotions. Hatred. An unquenchable desire to slay the monsters who tormented my life for years. Although I can’t recall my old mother's name, I remember all the emotions I felt. For years, I had suffered. The only vivid images I have are of those damn monsters who had ingrained themselves into my life. In particular, I could even remember the ugly face of the one who had killed me.
Yet, this dream, Annora, things were starting to come back to me. Just who was this woman to me.
“About time you're awake,” a cold voice said.
Directing my vision to where the sound came from I became deathly still. What was Cyprian doing here? Wait, what was I doing here?
A wave of despair rushed through me as I looked at the silhouette before me.
Yet, as he walked toward me I couldn’t help but feel confused. This presence was definitely the same as I had faced before but the man before me looked nothing like the devil I feared.
Instead, what stood before me was a man, not a devil. He had a darker skin color-darker than even the Pitaahians-with long black and red dreads. He wore a simple white shirt that could hardly contain his bulky figure. His dark pants fell all the way down to his red shoes. I couldn’t make out the color of his eyes due to his black and red-hued glasses.
The man adjusted his gold Cuban chain before he spoke, “You were out for a while, I started to think you had died.”
The man must have recognized the confusion on my face because after a moment of silence he continued, “You probably have a lot of questions, huh kid, well I guess I’ll start with confirming your suspicions, yes, I’m Cyprian.”
He fiddled with his gold watch before continuing, “Now, for why your here, to put it simply, I’m gonna make you stronger.”
Huh?
“Make me stronger,” I asked in disbelief.
“Mhm, you have potential, I wanna see how strong you can get,” Cyprian answered as he began to lean over me, “Before I fight you again.”
His maniacal glare completely caught me off guard compared to his attitude just seconds before.
Focus. You're in enemy territory. You can’t show fear.
“That will be the worst mistake of your life,” I replied deadpan.
“Hahaha, I’m counting on it kid,” Cyprian mocked as he picked me up, “Come on, you’ve been asleep for 2 weeks, let’s go meet the others.”
After being dragged for a bit I finally regained my footing and followed the man who towered over me.
I appear to be on a spaceship of some kind. As we walked throughout the corridors, a window or two would periodically be placed. However, looking out the window I couldn’t make sense of what I saw. I knew what traveling in a spaceship looked like but this didn’t compare.
“This ship can go much faster than those tin cans you’re used to,” Cyprian said as if he was reading my thoughts.
“If I remember correctly, your Empire's cruisers only use Tier 5 Warp Core with one exception,” smacking the wall he said, “This one right here is a T7 Warp Core and can travel the entire galaxy in a day.”
That was another thing I forgot I learned about. Apparently, the majority of spaceships are powered by energy sources which are commonly called Warp Cores. They are scaled in terms of energy and power with T1 being the weakest and T6 being the strongest. Or, T6 was supposed to be the strongest. If what he was saying was true, then that would make T7 the most powerful.
The thought of that was scary. A T6 Warp Core was already extremely rare. You get Warp Cores from monsters that have developed their cores-basically orbs with attributes but with monsters they were called cores. The higher tier of monster, the less chance of getting a core. With T6 Monsters being extremely rare as it is, there were only 3 T6 Warp Cores in existence.
Technically, all you get from monsters are cores. To make them Warp Cores you had to do a whole lot more science than I cared to know.
With a T6 being able to traverse the galaxy in a matter of weeks, I feared how fast we were currently going with a T7.
Not responding, I kept my eyes ahead of me. We were coming up on another door that had mana radiating from behind it.
Just before we approached the automatic doors Cyprian waved his hand in my direction and said, “You’ll be needing this.”
A blood-red hue formed around me and instantly I felt five, no, ten times more powerful. It felt similar to when my sister had protected me at the Capital, but way more potent.
Speaking of, I wonder what has happened to everyone else.
No. I can’t be distracted. They are a few of the most powerful people I have ever met, they can take care of themselves. My focus needs to be on surviving this mess.
Bracing myself, I followed Cyprian into the room.
A/N: Just want to clarify one thing. What Cronus is suffering from is a form of Dissociative Amnesia. Cronus is able to recall knowledge from his past life as seen when he refers to Object A as being similar to Object B that was in his past life. However, due to the trauma he experienced throughout his life and death, he is unable to recall more personal information. While I am not a psychologist, I do believe that this is fairly close to an accurate diagnosis. Of course, some things may be far-fetched for plot purposes.
