Charlemagne relaxed a little bit at the idea him and his friends all being together, "So we all will go back as a group?" 

   The man clarified, "Not exactly. They will be sent to different places and at several different points in time and you will have to find them. But you will be able to find them all; of that I can assure you."

   Charlemagne asked him slightly confused by that, "What do you mean? I desire an explanation or rather clarification." 

   The man manifested a line of white energy when he pointed at different points on the line and colors emerged of various different kinds and then he pointed to the first one he made on that line which was a red dot. He explained, "There will be changes to the Earth of this new timeline at this exact moment and that's I will be sending you to. Those changes to history will be caused by your birth as you will need to be reborn in this new timeline. It will immediately cause a ripple effect changing the world forever as magic will enter the world with you....... Or rather because of you. I will be making sure that the shackles and restraints that have been put on you by you in this life are removed, old friend. You will have much greater access to your true capabilities, and that ripple effect will cause the first great distortion in the timeline. With magic being introduced into Earth's history it will most likely cause for those who end up using it to create sweeping changes especially when you use it. Thus it will effect the later points in history that I will be sending each of your allies as well as the others that I sprinkle in along the way of the remaining 11 people here on Earth I will be sending back in time."

   Charlamagne looks to them mostly following along, but with a little bit of confusion by some of the things he says which make absolutely no sense. Especially regarding these shackles that he apparently placed on himself that he has no idea what the hell that means. Charlemagne asks him, "So how will I find my friends if they're all born at different times in this new history? It's not like immortal."

    The man looked back at him and gave a sly smile, "Yet. You are not immortal yet. However in this new timeline you will have the capability of achieving immortality especially with the alterations I will be throwing in. As the world will need to be a little bit more fun for me to be able to consider my work in helping to save the future worth it. So I thought about making it like a game but very much still not a game. You and those sent back with you as well as a special few individuals who made by chance to gain enough power or skill will have an ability that will allow them to manifest for their eyes only to see what you would consider a video game character sheet. It will explain a bit of the world through the lens of a game, and part of it will explain how you develop through that lens as well. Your reactions to these will fill me with some measure of excitement to see how well some of you may handle the idea that even though it might seem like a game at times your changes to history will be very real. One of the abilities that I know you will most likely pick up, because you are one of the most resourceful men I've ever met, will most definitely be unlocking immortality in this new timeline. I'm just curious how long it'll take you within the lifespan that you will get to choose for yourself."

   Charlemagne starts to think over everything he's heard so far and the idea does not sound like a bad one especially if this is legit. At this point it is the only thing standing between him and accepting it or declining and most likely dying in the blast of the nuke.

   The man walked over and placed his hand on Charlemagne's shoulder. In that moment his facade of playfulness and jovial banter disappeared and the man became very serious, "Listen, my friend........ I am uncertain just as you are uncertain of what will happen in this new timeline, but knowing what I know now about the fate of this timeline it is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. I would rather take this chance that I have been given and hedge my bets on you then see the rest of this universe and all who call it home fall to death and despair. I am not strong enough to save the future if I was I would do it myself and live with the consequences. But with this borrowed power that I am getting the chance to use I am putting my faith in the one person I know can succeed where I know I can't. You are a good man and you are willing to do what is necessary for your survival and that of those you care for. I have faith in you so will you have just a little faith in me."

   His words cause a confliction within Charlemagne's own mind and Charlemagne starts to debate to himself what is the right thing to do here. He looks around seeing how this battlefield and everyone on it if he declines this request, himself included, will most definitely die. Knowing that the state of the world right now is completely fucked he cannot allow this to be his fault if he can change the future.

   With a deep breath to calm his mind and a glance at Javianna, Charlemagne makes his choice, "Very well...... I accept."

   The man smiles with hope this time and steps away from Charlemagne. Then a holographic display appears in front of Charlemagne like a video game offering for him to pick his race with choices and information to choose from. On the display there seem to be 5 choices: Human, Angelkin, Demonkin, Monsterborn, or Hybrid.

   The man informs him, "As you can see there are five choices on what race you can pick for this new life that you will be reincarnated as and I lay the option in your hands. Each of these has the chance for evolution including humans in this new timeline. Humans are exactly what you know them to be and their evolutions involve them awakening their potential psionic power that has laid dormant for now. Angelkin and Demonkin are exactly what they sound like half angels and half demons that are also half human born through packs made between the parents of such a bond. Monsterborn are animals and other creatures in this new world that have rapidly evolved due to the introduction of magic changing their anatomy and granting them human level sentence which can later evolve them into becoming more human-like. And lastly is the hybrid option which is simply what it sounds like you pick two or three of the previously mentioned options and create a hybrid by choosing one from the list. Depending on the type of hybrid you might choose if you select that option your chances of evolution will change drastically."

   Hearing that Charlemagne begins looking over all of the options and what they would give. Some of it is explained in video game for me talkin about stats and skills even spells and such. Most of it is pretty detailed and he is very thorough when looking over everything however one of the options sticks out to him. A hybrid race called the Dimmed. It had three potential subraces: Hellspawn, Heavenspawn, or Forbiddened.

   He then started pouring over the information for those three subraces. The Dimmed in general seem to be Angelkin or Demonkin that have been magically or supernaturally sometimes both transformed into looking like and believing themselves to be human. This is a shackle put on them by their parents in order for them to live peacefully amongst humans and most live completely human lives without ever discovering their true origin. However they can unlock the seal placed on them in this manner which would make them even more powerful than they would be if they were born a normal Angelkin or Demonkin. 

   The Forbiddened subrace info is what really captured his attention however more so than the other two. Unlike the other two, the Forbiddened was not an Angelkin or Demonkin, but in actuality a Nephilim that had been put through the same process. There was no trace of human in there biology and instead they were half-angel half-demon beings that had been put through the same ritual in order to appear as human and believe themselves to be human so that they do not end up hunted down and murdered for simply existing. Their existence, as the name implied, meant that they were forbiddened to be born. As a Nephilim by this description was comparable to a demigod upon birth in terms of power, and by adulthood they were on the same level of power as most Gods.

   If one of these creatures were to go through the same process of unlocking their true selves and removing the seal placed on them; the amount of power that they would increase by would be nearly a thousand times greater than the amount that a normal Dimmed would receive. Charlemagne realize that this was his best option as it would grant him the most power to achieve the goal that he would be sent back to do. However once the seal that would be placed on him to make him Dimmed in the first place would be removed; he would become the target of every Angel and Demon that saw his existence as an affront to the Gods and be at war with both Heaven and Hell. He weighed the options but ultimately was firm in his choice and selected to be one of the Dimmed of the Forbiddened subrace.

   The second he selected the option he was given more options to pick which two types of individuals would be his parents. One of which being an Angel and one of which being a Demon. Of the list of options he found two that seemed when paired together would make him the strongest possible version of what he's hoping to achieve. An Angel of War as his father who serves the God of War, Hachiman. Then a Demon of Death as his mother who serves the God of Death, Shinigami. 

   After choosing them he had the highest possible stat bonuses for his race of his subrace that he could possibly have. With the most unique set of starting skills out of all of the options that complemented each other perfectly. Then a new screen appeared for a moment offering for him to pick his class but then it was overwritten, and this confused him as he didn't even get to make the choice or see the options.

   With the option of choosing my class taken from me I was thinking given the option to fill out my stats and see that all of my bonuses had already been added to the baseline of 5 for every stat bumping some of them up higher without needing to assign points. Looking at my stats I had 32 points to spend between all 8 stats.

   After I was done adding my steps I got to pick several skills to give bonuses to with certain skills greyed out because they already had bonuses to them. I had 5 that I could choose from the list. I choose Spellcraft, Enchanting, Technology, Engineering, and Blacksmithing. Each of these skills received a +20 point bonus from their baseline of 10. 

   Once all of my stats and skills had been finished the man in front of me spoke as the holographic screen disappeared, "With that your part is done and the rest is on me to complete. As a last bit of comfort I will let you know that when you come into contact with anyone who has been through a similar process to you you will know them as each of you shall have your original names from this timeline and they shall have a birthmark on their body that resembles a sun. If you are able to improve some of the skills you will gain you may even be able to see their character sheets and know who they are just by looking at them."

   Charlemagne mentioned, "You never told me your name. I would like to at least know the name of the one I put my trust in."

   The man gave a bow of respect and a golden book of radiant light appeared beside him. He replied as the pages of the book opened, "My name is Loki. I knew if I told you that name before getting to plead my case you would have never trusted me. It is a name that is synonymous with trickery and lies and I did not want that to corrupt your decision. I am sorry for not telling you at first but I hope that you will still have faith in me knowing the truth...... Until next we meet my friend." 

   As Loki disappeared he began muttering words in a unknown language and the book began to react and time slowly press forward once more. By the time he was completely gone time had resumed and the explosion went off and Charlamagne and Javianna were cloaked in golden light. The light was so blindingly bright knotted overwhelmed all of their other senses and the world around them disappeared, and in the silence bathed in bright white light the world they knew before was gone.
