“I mean, it’s been weird” I said as the next meeting was going on, “I’ve only been a…lycan and all for just under two weeks now…still freaking out over how my claws show themselves…but it’s been strange” I explained, the meetings were every other week. “The full moon is soon…so I’ll see how everything is going.” I said with a laugh, “I mean, the full moon is what…the 18th and it’s the 14th“
“We’ll see how well you do” Jamie sighed, “Everyone’s first moon is…definitely the worst.”
“You already have your wolfsbane prescription done, right?” Andrea asked, a few glowing creamy beige colored feathers of her own magic swirled to her side, holding one of the cups of not the best coffee to her side.
“I do” I said with a nod
“What shop are you at?” Lucy asked
“The Bloodstone” I said, for this weird ripple to move through the group, “What is it?” I asked
“Just the owner of the Bloodstone…Alphonse Steele, he is an…interesting person” Michael added, “He just…creeps a lot of people out, a lot of people are afraid of him and when he uses magic its is a very strange sight…but he’s a good guy, his shop is well loved.”
“He seemed interesting” I sighed, “Strange albeit, but a good person…loves his plants obviously too.”
“Just…be careful, he’s a good person to get your potion and anything else from, but be careful if he ever is upset when you interact with him.” Diana said as she was using her phone and a claw to absentmindedly pick something out of her razor sharp teeth showing off her more wolverine features with the aggressiveness of how her teeth were.
“What…what exactly is he? Am I allowed to ask that, I am still kind of new and learning about all of this” I asked
“Its fine, Dustin, most people don’t care when you ask what they are…but with him…not a single person knows, its not that he doesn’t talk about it, its more that…even he doesn’t know what he is.” Jean-Luc said with a shrug, their eyes had that glaze to them that was obviously the look of a rooster about to pounce or claw the shit out of someone, they had apparently become this from some restaurant that was storing things improperly and they did not realize that the chickens they had gotten had looked very strange before being butchered, the chickens in themselves having been infected by what was guessed to be someone who was a were-fox or something, thusly passing the condition through the chicken and then to them.
“On a scale of…1 to 10, how painful is…the first moon?” I asked nervously, softly twiddling my fingers as I had just kind of felt off sense the last Monday, the full moon was in two days, so there was reason as to why I felt off, but it was strange how I felt off: everything was too cold, my skin felt extremely dry, I had to stop myself at work the other night from eating some of the still flopping brought in fish out of the tank of ice and water they were brought in from and…just little things like that.
“Oh, it’s a full ass 10…at least it was for me” Jamie sighed, “I was however luckily in a magical hospital…so I was in a safe area.”
“I thought I had the flu then I woke up naked in the middle of the forest” Michael shrugged, his lower canines a bit too long for him to speak normally as a sign of the oncoming full moon, his boar tusks starting to show a little more. Everyone was having little elements like that showing more: Lucy’s antlers were showing off more, his tusks, Diana’s teeth, Jean-Luc’s kind of errant bloodthirst, Ophelia’s extreme distaste for light or loud sounds, Timothy who was extremely jumpy and Helen who was drinking a hot tea that was about 60% honey.
“I knew what was coming” Diana shrugged, “I wasn’t “accidently exposed” I was born like this, so I’ve known it was going to happen for ages, I was…ten when I had my first shift so…it is what it is. My whole family are were-wolverines. I just like having the support and having friends who know the issues with the not so human tissue we have.”
“What…what do I do?” I asked, “Like to have everything happen easier, that I don’t like get sick or pass out from the pain?”
“Getting drunk is a good toss up; you’re most likely going to vomit, at least I always have that issue.” Ophelia shrugged, her jacket’s huge hood up because even the florescent light was bothering her, “Just have some fun with it, plus getting drunk does keep the pain numbed.”
“Cheese” Timothy said not paying attention as he was on his maybe sixth cheese-stick from the charcutier tray that was brought in for the meeting.
“You just need to…experiment and figure out what works best for you” Andrea sighed, “Because you’re a were-alligator…taking a hot bath would probably be good: you’ll crave the water and heat when you shift, so…staying in a bath would probably work.”
“Not just…heading out into the swamp or something?” I asked
“Well, then you just have to worry about how you get back, plus…you want to get entirely naked before you shift too or you’ll rip out of your clothes.” Helen explained, “Michael can confirm, nothing is more embarrassing than waking up after shifting and you’re naked in the middle of nowhere.”
“I…see” I said as I nodded softly.
