Chapter 3: My bias is seeking my approval 

As we waited for our food to arrive, Hifumi Tooru, my mom and I both engaged in a light conversation about how my bias and my mom met and how they fell for each other. While I was warmly watching over them, the food arrived. When I took out my old smartphone to take pictures of the appetizing presented food, my future dad proposed that we also take a picture of ourselves as a memento. My mom and I both liked the idea and my mom even suggested that I take a two-shot with my bias.

“I’m really a successful fan!” I thought, while internally crying from joy, as I took a picture with Hifumi Tooru. “Thank you, mom! I’ll forever be a good daughter!”

After taking a few more shots, we went back to our seats and started savoring our dishes. As we talked more about ourselves, my bias finally asked my thoughts about their wedding. 

“Kumiko-chan, I know it must have been shocking for you to know that not only am I going out with your mother but I’m also planning on marrying her”, he started. “But even so, I would like to have your approval to marry your mom and for me to become your father.”

I looked straight into his eyes.

“He really seems serious.” I smiled.

“I know I might not be a good father, since this will be my first time being a parent, but I promise that I’ll do everything that I can to make you and your mother happy”, he continued.

I looked at my mother and looked back at my bias. They had a worrisome look yet expectant of my response.

I took a deep breath.

 “I have really liked you for a very long time, Hifumi-san”, I confessed.

Both Hifumi Tooru and my mother looked surprised at my confession.

“You may have known from my mom that I’m a big fan of HELIOS and that you’re my favorite member in the group”, I continued.

My bias, startled, wanted to say something but refrained from saying so. My mother was perplexed but she let me speak.

“As you just said, I was really surprised that my bias was going out with my mom and that you two even promised to marry each other.”

The two of them looked apologetic and as my mom tried to apologize to me again, I immediately started talking, not wanting to hear her apology again. 

“I was, at first, really sad!”  I said loudly. “After knowing that my mother was really going out with my bias, as a fan, I even felt a bit disappointed.”

Hifumi Tooru looked blue and I didn’t want to see his sad face anymore, I quickly added on, “But today, I’m really glad that I’ve met you, Hifumi-san!”

He didn’t look dejected anymore and I felt a bit relieved. 

“You have proven to me that you truly love my mother.” I smiled as I recalled my mom and my bias talking happily together. “I feel kind of weird… for my bias to become my father…”

“But as a fan and as a daughter, I wish you two all the happiness in the world!” I exclaimed. 

My mom started crying a little and Hifumi Tooru was in tears.

“It’s really nice to meet you, future dad!” I smiled as I extended my hand to my bias for a handshake. He grabbed my hand and I could feel his hand trembling. 

“Thank you…” he whispered as his tears fell down his cheeks. “Really, thank you!”

I also started to tear up and said to him “No, I’m the one who should thank you, Hifumi-san. Thank you for making my mom happy.”

On this day, my mom, my future dad and I all cried and had a big family hug while thanking each other.
