Kenma’s college experience wasn’t the same as most people his age. With everything going on he slowed his pace a lot and ended up doing 5 years instead of the standard four. This means he ended up graduating a year later than his friends that were his age. It wasn’t a really big deal for him since most of his friends had a small age gap. For example Kuroo being a year older and Hinata being a year younger. But gods was he ready to be out of this hell hole. 

The minus side to finally graduating is the ceremony. He hated doing all of these formal things and wearing fancy clothes, but everyone insisted he go. Kenma is just graduating college, he doesn’t have the energy to argue with Kuroo, Hinata, Lev, and all of the other annoyingly peppy volleyboys that seemed to be so invested in his graduation. 

But here he is, standing in a line next to a bunch of people he didn’t know or care about. Listening to a bunch of speeches from people who put way too much into college and were probably going to go to college again after the summer. When his name is finally called he goes and gets his stupid piece of paper, shakes the deans hand, and decidedly ignores the 8 volleyball teams worth of obnoxious cheers. 

He now has to sit down in a chair and listen to more speeches. He thinks it over when the dean says, “Now, i know most of you are eager to get out of here and spend time with your loved ones celebrating, but we have one more thing. Please stay for this surprise for one of our graduates” 

Then to Kenma’s mortification, Kuroo appeared on stage and took the microphone from the Dean. “Hey. Some of you here know me, wether it is personally or because you watch volleyball. Some of you don’t, and you probably just want to get out of here. Well i apologize for keeping you, but i’ll only be a moment. 

“I want to say this because of my roommate, best friend, and boyfriend, Kozume Kenma. Another name you may or may not know. Now, since he doesn’t go to school on campus and isn’t particularly fond of social events he didn’t want to come to this ceremony, but i managed to convince him to come anyway under the guise that all of our friends would have a reason to come and visit us. 

“And though that was part of the reason, there was more to it that i didn’t tell you. Kenma i’ve known and loved you since we first met as kids. When i would drag you outside to chase bugs and run around, but you’d complain because you’d stayed up too late playing video games. I’ve known i loved you since Middle School when i first convinced you to play volleyball.

“I knew i loved you when we had to spend a year apart after i graduated high school. The both of us had never been away that long and i know that i barely handled it. 

“I told you i loved you on the first break i got from my first year of college and finally got to see you again. To my surprise you said you loved me too. And since then we’ve been through so much together. Your high school graduation, my college career, your college career, my work, your work, and now finally your college graduation. 

“In these 6 years we’ve been together i’ve never been happier than i am with you. I want to stay happy with you. So, after all of this babbling that you’ve put up with i’m gonna get to the point now. 

“Kozume Kenma, stay happy with me? Marry Me?”

The crowd roared, some people (not to be mentioned) louder than others. And kenma didn’t know what to do with himself. 

Kuroo jumped off stage and walked towards where kenma was sitting, a nervous smile on his face. He reached a hand out to pull Kenma out of his seat before kneeling before him, and presenting a simple silver band. “Marry me?” he repeated.

Kenma just mumbled, “Of course i’ll marry you dumbass.” 

Kuroo beamed and stood to wrap Kenma in his embrace before pressing their lips together in a quick chaste kiss. When he pulled away he brought Kenmas hand up to his lips and kissing each finger before putting the ring on him. 

“I love you.” Kuroo smiled

“Shut up.” Kenma buried his face in Kuroo’s chest to hide his smile.
