Theodore POV.

Three days passed since the day Noah read all my letters. I went through them again, but I noticed there were some missing from early times I started writing for him. I decided to not press the issue further, I finally can see my Noah smiling genuinely so who cares if one or two letters have gone missing? I miss Noah, I was busy with the village work that I only saw him during nighttime, and even then he was fast asleep. Good thing as for next week, the village will vote for a mayor and I'll be free from this nightmare!

"Darling, g-good day to you, th-the weather is really nice today, I was wondering if you'd like to have a picnic." Noah said then presented a picnic basket. I stood up then hugged my husband and kissed him. "I-Is that a no?"

"How can I say no to the love of my life?" My reply made Noah instantly happy. I linked my arm around him and carried the basket in his stead.

We went to the garden and I helped Noah place the blanket and set the dishes he made for me. "Honey, is this a date?" I asked him.

"W-We're married so every outing i-is a d-date!" Noah answered bashfully.

"Aw, but I wanted you to ask me out...!" Noah was silent for a while which made me anxious. Once I was done setting everything I looked at him to be greeted with a bright red face. "Honey you--"

"No! I-I can do it!" Noah took a deep breath to calm himself. "Th-Theodore Black, w-would you like t-to g-go o-on a d-date with me?!" I gasped at Noah's statement then giggled.

"Yes, I'd love to go on a date with you." I kissed his cute head as though to praise his effort.

"I read in one of your letters that you always wanted to go on a picnic date with me, I mean I know we've done it before, but this time it's different!"

"... Have I ever told you how much I'm in love with you?" 

"Y-You say it all the time."

"Then I'll say it once more, I love you so much!" I pushed Noah down and then started kissing his neck.

"I-I love you too..."

"Did you make all these snacks, love?"

"N-Not entirely... I-I was reading a book about making light snacks, a-and the kitchen staff helped me make them."

"Aww... I'll dig in!"

"N-No! Wait!" Noah clasped his hand over my mouth to prevent me from eating.

"I-I know you were tired these past three days, I barely saw you a-and I really, really missed you. I decided this picnic is a reward for your hard work so I'll be feeding you." Christ, what did I do in my previous life to deserve such a loving husband?!

"Alright, then spoil me honey~!" Noah's cheeks turned cute shades of pink as he pick up a small meatball and then fed it to me. "Delicious, honey you're a genius!"

"Y-You're exaggerating! This is nothing!" Noah kept feeding me until we finished everything. After that, my husband laid my head on his lap. "I apologize if this is uncomfortable, I read in a book that couples do this to deepen their bond."

 I did my daily exercises with Theodore and then joined May in the library. "So Noah, I was busy with my new experiments that I couldn't ask you properly about how you got poisoned, do you know who did it?" I was silent and May caught up on it. "So you know who... If you're scared of them don't be, Theo and I will protect you!"

"... It was Theo..." I finally answered.

"Come again?"

"The one who poisoned me, it was Theo."

"Wh-What do you mean it's Theo...?! There's no way he'd do that to you, someone must have framed him, Theo is in love-- no blindly in love with you, there is no way he'd poison you!"

"I know! I know he'd never! I considered he might've been framed, or if the apple he gave me was already laced with poison, I was doing my own investigation these past few days, but there is no clue of anyone framing him!"

"I don't understand..."

"Every time I wake up, I can see him, I can see my Theo, and his eyes are filled with nothing but love for me so I don't understand it myself." It was May's turn to be silent, and of course, I don't blame her. "Please don't tell Theo, if he finds out he was the reason I was poisoned it'd break him."

"I promise."

"Good, let's go back into the book we were discussing."

Once we were done discussing the novel we were reading, I bid May farewell and went upstairs to see Theo standing silently. "Darling, what are you spacing out for?"

"Oh, Noah..." This feeling again. Something is not right with Theodore. "Come here." I approached him then he suddenly hugged me. "This time, I'll get rid of you before you awaken." Once Theodore said that he pushed me down the stairs. I braced myself for the impact as I fall on every step.

"Th-Theo...?" My vision goes dark as my eyes met Theo's.

"H-Honey?!" I heard my sweet husband's voice before I faint.

I woke up to find myself in the castle's infirmary. I stood up to see Theodore is by my side again and it was the first time I felt dread instead of calmness when I saw him. I couldn't believe my own husband tried to kill me. I still can't believe it, why would the love of my life do that to me?

"Honey, you're awake! Thank goodness! How did this happen? I was spacing out then suddenly I heard a loud thud and I found you at the end of the stairs!"

"... I tripped, maybe the side-effect made me dizzy." My husband's eyes were moist and I can tell he cried.

"Oh love, I should have paid more attention to such things, I'm glad we placed a carpet on the stairs, it cushioned your fall." Theodore placed his hand on mine, on a reflex I pulled away which surprised him.

"... I guess you're pretty shaken by the incident honey, rest all you can, I... I have work to do..." I'm the shittiest husband ever! I hurt him, I hurt my dear partner.

It was a moonless night and for some reason, I always feel weak on these nights. I didn't feel like reading, the thing I like doing the most, and I don't want to go back to my room for fear of meeting Theodore.

"Noah...?" I jolted up and then turned around to see that it was May.

"Oh, May, lovely moon we have today."

"What the hell are you talking about? It's a moonless night not to mention while I was conducting my research I heard the cleaning staff saying you fell from the stairs, was it really an accident?"

"... No."

"I knew it, it was that person, wasn't it?"

"... Yes." I looked down as I felt my eyes tear up. "May, what should I do? I don't want to go back to my room, what if that person awakens and chokes me in my sleep?"

"For now, come to my tower, we will figure something out." I let May escort me back. Once we were in, we were greeted by a maid.

"Good evening Lady May and... Oh! Your highness!" The maid quickly bowed down. "It is an honor to meet your highness prince Noah Evermoon! May Amaterasu bless you!"

"Beige please prepare the guest room for Prince Noah, he's staying with me tonight, and inform Theo about it." May said.

"As you wish, I'll inform Red to tell Master Theodore as I prepare the guest room for his highness, but..." Beige trailed.

"Speak up."

"Why is... His highness spending the night here?"

"Hahaha! Good question! The reason his highness is spending the night here is to be my lab rat! I'm going to experiment on him with all kinds of stuff!"

"Poor Prince Noah... Well, may you get the result that you want."

"I'll excuse myself." Beige bowed and then went to prepare the guest room.

"Nice coverup." I said.

"Ha... Hahaha! Who told you it was a coverup? I always wanted to lay my hand on an Evermoon, originally it was supposed to be Owen, but I was too shy to ask since I am in love with him and all... Anyways! I have always been curious about the Evermoon's birthmark, why is it that only the royal family of Evermoon has it?"

"I don't know, I never really paid attention to it."

"I'd like to experiment with Sundust, Moonglow, and Whitely."

"Wh-What are these?"

"Just holy elements, don't worry, they're very safe and won't leave you with any allergy or itchiness. I know that the Evermoon birthmark reacts strongly to Moonglow as the color of it changes, but what about other holy elements?"

"P-Please be gentle."

"Don't worry~ Don't worry~ I..." May trailed off then stripped me off my shirt. "Will be gentle!"

"Lay down on this bed. I will start with sundust, I will start with a small dosage and then a strong one."

"A-Are you really sure it'll be safe?"

"Don't worry~ Don't worry~ I'm a certified alchemist with a license to perform experiments. If I was not, then the country would not fund me holy elements, they're extremely rare and expensive. One of the reasons I joined the war was to lay my hands on them." May dropped a small dosage on my birthmark, the liquid was lukewarm so I was only startled when it touched my skin. "Hmm, no reaction..." May wrote it down on her notepad.

 "I-Is that so?" She added more and mumbled something.

"So sundust has no reaction on the birthmark." She wiped my back and then sanitized it. "Gotta make sure there is no remain of Sundust on you, so next is Moonglow."

"B-But don't we already know the result?"

"Yes, but we need to write it down precisely, just relax Noah."

"O-Okay." May poured the liquid on my birthmark and as expected my birthmark reacted to Moonglow. "Ack! My head!" A sharp pain jolted through my head which alerted May.

"Aiden, I love you, let's be tog... ther...."

"Sorry... Pro... Could... No... fillfu..."

"Noah?!" I snapped out of it. What were these visions? Who is Aiden and the other person talking to him? "Shit, Theo gonna kill me, Owen, don't curse on me!"

"May...?"

"Noah!" May hugged me tightly. "Are you okay? I thought Moonglow was safe. What happened?"

"I... I don't know, my head started to hurt and I started to see weird visions, but I couldn't see or hear properly, maybe because the dosage of Moonglow was small? Let's do it again, but with a larger one."

"Let's not, you were in pain the whole time you were watching these 'visions' Amaterasu knows what will happen if Theo hears your screams."

"Let's stop experimenting today."

"No." I objected then held her hand. "The experiment never ends until we get the result we need." May blushed then pulled her hand away.

"Y-You sound just like Owen... Okay, let's continue, but no more Moonglow. Next time I'll make it lighter if we want to test on you again."

"I understand."

"Behold Whitely! I actually looted this from Whitenight. We infiltrate one of their HQ and I got access to their lab and got this bad boy."

"I-Is it legal? Were you authorized to experiment with it...?"

"Of course I did, it's safe, I would never put you through any danger. Theo will kill me and Owen might curse me... Somewhere..."

"Alright, I trust you." 

"Huh... Oh fuck... I screwed up real bad."

"Wh-What did you do?!"

"Your birthmark... It disappeared!" Blood drained out of my face by the news I started freaking out. 

"What do you mean it's gone?! Return it back! D-Do something!"

"I don't know! I don't know! I only dropped a small dosage, I didn't think this will happen!"

"I-If my parents find out that my birthmark I'll get executed, you too! Fix it!" Suddenly I felt a sharp pain on my cheek. Did May slap me?

"Snap out of it! I'm an alchemist! I will find a solution!"

"What solution?!"

"Well we should go back to the holy elements chart, the opposite of Whitely is Blackly, I did not want to use it because last time I did Owen had a terrible allergic reaction."

"I don't care! My birthmark is my proof that I'm an Evermoon!"

"Alright... Alright... Since I only dropped a small dosage of Whitely on you, I will make Blackly lighter and get some herbs for the rash."

"Okay." May prepared the medicine as I sat and watched her do her work, it took her an hour to finally finish.

"Lay down on your back again, huh? It's back, your birthmark!"

"What?! Seriously?!"

"Yes look!" May handed me a mirror and as she said my birthmark is there.

"I guess Whitely works as a concealer for your birthmark, interesting indeed. This is highly confidential information... I must depart to tell the Queen about it!"
