Blood will attract them. Carefully, I grab the water that was collected during the downfall and spill it around so the blood will wash away easier. Looking back I see the Reina staring down with a terrified expression. Ignoring her, I continue the job. Maybe I can leave her out here and go outside and then we will be able to get rid of her? No. Layla would forgive that.
“Get in. There are other things to do.” I say, annoyed at the girl that stood before me.
“You’re Sylvia, right?” She asked looking at me straight in the face. “the other one?”
I nod and walk inside. What did expect from me. A congratulations for figuring out something. You get none of the from me. Checking the firewood, I noticed the supply has declined. What a pain. It has rained to the chances of finding dry wood is low. What a pain. Looking around the cavern she noticed that the leak had finished dripping, and mist was gathering. Soon they need to air out the carven, plug up the holes and find a light source apart from fire.
“What are you doing? Why is everyone else gone?” Reina asks “Can I talk to Layla? She seems nicer.”
That’s because she is. Even if I tried to explain this all to her she would never understand. If she doesn’t know what happened last night, I have no idea how she survived this long. That doesn’t matter. If she is going to live here, she has to help out. Even if she dies, we ain’t stopping for her.
“On the wall is a list of things we have to do. You do 1-5, I do the rest.”
“What?” she protests “Why is there so much and why do I have to do it to?”
“If you want to stay here and live with us, you do stuff to help out and not be useless baggage.”
The looks she gives me looks as if I have betrayed her. What fun. Looking back outside, I wait for Reina to recover her senses and I walk towards the blood stained forest.
