“Couldn’t you have been a bit nicer to her, I mean she probably just lost everyone she knew.” Layla comments. “ It doesn’t kill you to nice to people you know.”
It’s been tree hours since I finished my task and Reina still isn’t back. Not that I care, but Layla keeps pestering me about it. It’s not the end of the world if she abandons us. We’re fine alone. Anyway, currently she just seems like a waste if she can’t do the easiest tasks that were set for today. We need to survive in this world. It would be better off if she just died while doing the tasks. I’ll just do it later.
“Excuse me, I finished, am I allowed in now?” Reina calls from outside.
No, I don’t want to let you in but a certain someone does. Pushing the rock back to reveal a dirty bloodstained girl carrying vines and leaves in her hands. Hah, seems she was able to do it. Looking up at the roof of the cavern, I glare.
“Go string the vines around the leaves and cover the holes in the roof.”
“What!? I’ve risked my life to get these and now you’re forcing to do more?” she complained, crossing her arms.
Look, I can’t see why we don’t just throw her out. She is useless! Glaring at her, I point up and turn away. Be nicer? If she would help without complaining and do a decent job of it, I would! Suddenly I shift, and I’m out of control. Turning my back to Layla and Reina, I wait. Useless sweet talk won’t get anyone anywhere. We don’t need anyone else. Because every time we get close to someone, the harder it is when they die.
“I’ll do it instead; you get some rest.” Layla whisper to both me and Reina, “Sleep well.”
