Poor guy! On top of *everything else*, the needle just *had* to break, and it was a dang awful *huge* one too. Though maybe that was part of the problem, bigger means more resistance and human flesh, especially skin, puts up a lot of resistance and it is unlikely they used fine tempered steel for sewing needles at the time
