Idk why but I am terrified for this child! The portrait ended up being accredited to his master didn't it? But why? As the master wanted this to be the opportunity to to boost his disciples career. Also yeah the master is sick but the mentioning of him dying soon after the portrait being made seems sus... also how this daughter dies only a few years later. . . Was the disease mentioned? Or is it a mystery? We know the painting will be amazing .. but this was labeled a tragic story. In surface level one could just attribute this to two deaths- the master and the portrait subject. But the disciple seems unknown to history? Or deeply hidden? Perhaps it was not a bad portrait but a unapproved/scandalous whirlwind affair? A mix of prince &the pauper and Romeo & juliet...I hope not. But my is screaming that the apprentice "run b**** run". If webtoons/manhwa have taught me anything it'd no commoner should trust a noble (isekai characters don't count).
One of the most celebrated paintings in the world is believed to be the work of the master, Whip Valamer, the premier portraitist of 18th century Europe. The subject of the painting is Zabeth Clayton, the adored first-born daughter of a storied family who is said to have died of an illness at the flowering of youth. This often-told story hides a truth at once more beautiful and tragic.
