Two cups of water and a million questions later, Zerra led Jen, Sarah and Alex to his den (or "cavern", as he'd called it). Jen looked around, running her hands over the neat stone slabs in the den. It was placed in such a way that it looked almost like furniture. She chose a stone and sat down. The others did too.
"So," began Zerra. "Now that I know your intentions, I shall have nothing better to do than to help -" "Um, what actually guards the revival gem?"
Zerra shot a steely glare at Jen, who had asked that question. "- you guys. And yes, your question's gonna be answered. So, uh, basically I was a little gryffin, innocent and all. Then one day - out of ALL gryffins, mind you - T.U.G chose me to protect the Revival Gem. Course, I didn't know how i was supposed to protect it. So for years I just stood in front of it. For years no one came. Then when I was around sixteen, I got bored of life, just standing around doing nothing. I mean, you would, right? So I walked right out of the darn place and settled down in here. I kinda worried that T.U.G was gonna beat me up, all 'hey why didn't you protect the Revival Gem'. But thankfully he didn't. I don't even know where he is today."
Jen, Sarah and Alex stared at the gryffin, transfixed by the tale. Then he said something that made them scream internally.
