Narrator’s POV
"Ahhh, Chinca. Even for a man, this is unfair. How could they look so good?" Wonjoo lets out a loud grunt after watching Late Notice's live performance on the television.
"HAHAHAHAHA, oh our poor Wonjoo-shi. It’s not your fault that you’re not as beautiful as Late Notice," says Mimi, mockingly. Wonjoo begins to act like a child in a tantrum. "WAHHH!!! Are you comforting or making fun of me? They’re bullying me again, Tae-ri Hyung!"
Song Do-Yun, the peacemaker and the sole "rational" one, reprimands them. "Sigh, I won’t wonder if Tae-ri’s boss will fire him someday. Both of you are so damn noisy."
While pouring beer to a bunch of strangers, Tae-ri looks over to his friends' table, giggling. He lays the food tray on the bar counter and removes his waist apron in the staff-only section. He then proceeds to where his friends are. "Hahaha, stop teasing Wonjoo, guys. I’m done with my shift now. I'll stay here for a while," Kim Tae-ri appeases.
He takes a seat next to Wonjoo. Wonjoo ensnares him in his arms and refuses to let go of him. Sarcastically, Kim Tae-ri is teased by Mimi. "Ugh, finally Tae-ri. You just don’t know how to take a break, do you?" "YAHH! I mean, isn't summer vacation? Can’t we have a tinsy bit of fun?" Wonjoo chimes in. With all the charm he can conjure, he cradles Tae-face ri's and pouts.
When Mimi interrupts, "I'm calling for a trip to Jeju!" Kim Tae-ri is released by Wonjoo, who chants, "Myeong-dong! Myeong-dong! Myeong-dong!"
Song Da-yun breaks the excitement off by replying, "Okay guys, have fun."
Mimi stomps her feet and scowls, "No! You have to come with us this time. This is why Tae-ri never goes too!"
"Don’t sh*t with me. All you’re ever good at is planning," Song Da-Yun snapped.
"Ahehehe," a peace sign is exchanged by Wonjoo and Mimi as they giggle.
"We swear it will happen this time. Right, Wonjoo?" Mimi nudges Wonjoo. "You betcha. I mean, we don't push through because it’s just not the same without you. And- and-" Wonjoo trails off, welling his eyes to force tears out. "Too much Wonjoo, too much." Mimi's eyes narrowed.
Song Da-Yun shakes her head as Kim Tae-ri chuckles at how silly his friends are.
Kim Tae-ri’s phone rings out of the blue. He rushes to find it in his shoulder bag. He lowers the volume so the ringing won’t bother other people. "Aw, sorry guys. My mother’s calling. I think she wants me home now. It is getting late."
"Wow, I wish my parents were like that," whispers Wonjoo. Mimi, his ever-so-mortal frenemy, rebuttals. "How could they want you when you keep being a headache?" Wonjoo whimpers. "Why are you always so mean to me?"
Song Da-yun continues to ignore them. "Please greet Aunt for me."
"Sure. It’s nice to see you guys again. Sorry, I can’t stay for too long. Have fun and make sure you’re safe when you go home. " Kim Tae-Ri climbs to his feet and gets ready to leave.
"Make sure you come, or we’ll beg Aunt and Uncle to convince you!" Mimi threatens. "Don’t mind them. Go now, Tae-Ri. " Song Da-Yun dismisses them with a wave.
Kim Tae-Ri began sprinting as soon as he was confident he was out of his friends' sight. "Sh*t. Sh*t. I should have set the alarm earlier. I might miss the bus," he mumbles.
He makes it to the bus stop just as the bus is about to leave. He knocks at the already closed door and begs the driver to open it. The driver notices and she opens it. "Sorry for being late. Thank you," he bows. The driver simply nods.
Kim Tae-Ri settles into the solo seat section by the window. He rests his hand on his seat, trying to catch his breath. "God, I need to think about my life decisions more."
After calming down, Kim Tae-Ri takes a look at his phone and types Yoo Dong-Han into the search field of a social networking website. He clicks on Yoo Dong-Han’s newly uploaded pictures. "Damn. He looks so handsome with this new hairstyle."
Kim Tae-ri sighed. He lets his phone down and looks outside the window with these words in mind, “He’s. Just. Perfect. Smart, handsome, and talented. Caring friends and loving family. What could you even ask for?”
He falls asleep unintentionally as fleeting stories from the world beyond his window pass him by.
"THIS IS THE LAST STOP! NAMYANGJU!"
Kim Tae-ri sprung to his feet as he heard the driver shout. Kim Tae-ri looks around to see where he was. "Fuck! I’m two blocks away from my stop!" His eyes widen as he glances at the bus's enormous digital clock.
He bows to thank the driver for her service, then rushes out of the bus while slapping his forehead. As he sprints around the street like a lunatic, an elderly couple gossip about him.
"He looks like he has a worm in his butt." The old man said.
"No, I think he just has a lot of debt," the old woman refuted.
"Maybe, ahahaha." The both of them laugh as they watch Kim Tae-ri fade into the distance.
When they thought he was gone, they heard him yelling from afar, "What the fuck!"
"Kids these days," said the two elderly, shaking their heads.
