Shortly after the announcement was made, cops, both humans and robots, appeared on the streets urging people to leave all public areas and to take shelter inside their homes. Some people were quick to leave the streets while others questioned the police officers, but the only answer they received were batons or pepper sprays. Not surprisingly, the lack of response from the employees of the government and overall confusion led to chaos and people desperately running over each other, primarily looking out for themselves.
“I think we gotta go,” Timothy said.
“You’re not wrong there,” Andrea replied.
Timothy clumsily gathered all his tools onto his wooden wagon.
“You two, hurry up!” An officer called.
Timothy pulled the wagon but it didn’t budge. He looked back puzzled and noticed that one of the back wheels had gotten stuck in a mud hole.
“Can you give me a hand?” Timothy asked Andrea, but instead of helping him with the stuck wagon she put a hand on his shoulder and said; “We gotta go,” as another cop started to approach them.
“Look what we have here. Should we take these two hobos to the stadium?” The second cop said demeaningly.
“Yeah, sure,” the first cop replied.
“Tim, just leave it,” Andrea urged, ignoring the two officers.
“I can’t. Stella is all I have left. But you go.”
“Can’t she walk by herself?”
“She can, but I was just in the middle of putting her together again and it will take some time until I can start her up.” Timothy was still struggling with the wagon.
“Ay! Are you two deaf or just plain stupid?” The second cop said.
Both officers started to move closer.
“Well, aren’t you pretty?” The second cop grabbed Andrea.
“Get off!” She said and tried to pull away.
“Let her go!” Timothy stopped in his attempts to get the wagon rolling.
“Enough!” The first cop said and struck Timothy with a black baton which made him stumble down on his knees. “Let’s take them to the stadium,” the first cop continued.
“What’s the trouble?” A person asked who had silently walked into the scene.
“Who are you?” The second cop asked as he turned around and saw a tall blue woman. She had long white hair dressed in a side shave.
“Let the girl go.” The woman said and walked over to Timothy to help him up.
“Why should we listen to you?” The second cop said.
The woman threw a simple purse over to the first cob who barely catched it.
“How much is it?” The second cop asked.
“A hundred.” The first cop replied.
“Good enough, let’s go.” The second cop loosened his grip around Andrea and headed out followed by the first cop.
“Thank you. Although it feels like I just witnessed a slave trade or similarly.” Timothy said.
“You’re welcome. Now, can you try to pull that thing again?” The woman pointed to the wagon. “I’ll push.”
Timothy did as he was told and together they got the one wheel free from the mud.
“Thanks again.” Timothy said.
"Follow me.”
“What?” Timothy asked, a bit dumbfounded.
“Or would you rather join the cops at the stadium?”
“ATTENTION. THIS IS AN URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT BROADCASTED TO ALL PEOPLE ON EARTH. MAJOR EXCAVATIONS OF THE EARTH’S RESOURCES ARE ABOUT TO BEGIN. YOU MUST TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. MORE INFORMATION WILL BE GIVEN SHORTLY.”
This is the story of a middle aged man with back pains, a homeless chain smoker, a ten year old brat, a blue alien, and a couple of other characters, who unfortunately didn't make it into the description. You will follow them as they tackle extinction level threats against a tiny place in the universe called Earth.
