I woke up feeling like I had taken too much cough medicine or maybe one too many antihistamine with how groggy I was, it was like everything was moving in slow motion, or I was underwater or something. I rolled out of bed…literally as I picked myself up to my feet with the edge of the mattress after I had hit the carpet with a sizeable thud. My nails bit into the material of my blankets as I shifted my legs to my knees and pushed one of my feet into the ground, but it felt weird because my heels weren’t touching the ground, when I pushed my heels downwards, they wouldn’t get closer before I tossed myself onto my ass on the bed as I looked down at my legs and person, scales entirely covered my arms and legs, my hands were webbed to the middle digit, my toes were webbed and my heels had that shape like an animal’s back feet, so I guess it’s less of my heel and more my ankle that was this kicked back part of my leg, but my feet were that of a gator’s. The plate like scales covered my chest and stomach, the tops and insides of my legs and the inner sides of my arms, like those on a gator’s belly. My tail was also still there.
I breathed deeply as I rocked my shoulders back and rocked my back as I let the joints pop as I stood up and just threw my loosest clothing on as I just threw some shorts on and made my way into my kitchen, I did pause to close the blinds of the glass door out of the paranoia of someone possibly being able to see me like this through the windows. I got my stovetop coffee pot on with some coffee in it as I got myself some breakfast together, the small pot only made a cup or two of coffee, but I would drink all of that during breakfast alone. I cracked my neck as I breathed deeply, the webbed state of my fingers was a little awkward to do some more fine things when I was making myself breakfast, like trying to crack an egg was almost impossible to do with these huge claws, so I ended up just using the back of a knife to crack it open or anything I wanted to do or use that required more fine usage of the front of my fingers, which made the usually quick process of making myself breakfast take a fair bit longer than I’d admit to.
It was also difficult to sit on chairs normally with the tail, my dining chair was fine because it has that gap between the back and the seat, so I ended up just sitting on the floor, my laptop on the coffee table as I had breakfast, my tail hooked under the couch as I wrapped my hands around a large mug of scalding hot coffee.
“What am I even supposed to do today?” I asked myself, if I had been able to get those magic books Alphonse told me about, I’d be able to spend today studying or something, but when I left his shop…it was far too late to be able to go anywhere. I possibly could go out and get them, but tail. None of my clothing is made for having a tail, so there was no clothing I could possibly wear, it was awkward feeling because I just had my tail fed through the back of my pant leg, no underwear because it was just…so awkward feeling.
I used my connection to the magic internet to look around for anything I could possibly do or what should be best for me to do over these next few days. There was an assortment of things online that it said I could do for these next few days. So, I sat back on the floor, shifting as I pulled my tail out from the back of my shorts and let it fall over the back of the shorts and slip under the couch as I leaned my head back as I closed my eyes and…let myself focus on not what was around me, but inwards.
It felt like…slowly sinking into a bath that was just barely too warm, not uncomfortable, just too warm, but the water had more weight against my person than water shoulder, there was endless darkness as far as I could see in all directions. I could nearly feel the bubbles trailing up my face as my breath slowly leeches out of my nose and through my teeth as I tilted my head back, these washes and swirls of dark green moved around the edges of my vision as the darkness ebbed and flowed as if I was below the deepest currents of the river. All of my senses were muffled and dampened to the point where I was almost entirely deprived of all of my senses as this static feeling seemed to coil and twist its way through my stomach and crawling up my spine as it spread through the depths of my skeleton. It was weirdly comforting in the way that my senses were almost entirely removed from my person making me feel as if I was all, but melting away into the depths of the river.
I gasped as I was suddenly ripped from it as…a voice filled my head, a voice that while familiar, it was unfamiliar with how it just appeared at the back of my head. It was Alphonse’s voice.
“Hi, how are you doing? I was worried about how you’re handling today. You can respond to this message. Have you eaten?” his voice echoed through the back of my head. I breathed deeply.
“Been better. I have eaten, but I feel like I haven’t. everything is just…stupidly sore feeling and weird.” I sighed, Alphonse’s voice returned to the back of my head with a soft laugh that was muffled and blurry at the back of my head.
“Can I stop by? I know that this is your first full moon and that’s always the roughest for lycans. I can bring coffee or something”
“Do you even know where I live?” I asked confused, “If you want to come by you can and I wouldn’t say no to free food.”
“Magic is strange, because my magic is so thick in all of the potions, charms and things I make…I can pick up the lingering magic that is in them vaguely, so the potions you have around you…give me a vague direction.” Alphonse added, “So, I’ll see you in…ten minutes”
“Okay”
