The Omega Test

Delta's Cave (1/2)

Delta's Cave (1/2)

Jun 17, 2022

My Dad was proud of who I am.

I carried that thought as I walked into the Den full of wolves celebrating the Alpha’s victory. Some turned to me and I guess they were surprised to see my battered pelt, one of them screamed pointing at me.

“What was an Omega-Born doing out there?! You poor thing!” A guy ran up to me with a medic bag and started checking me over introducing himself as Delta Medic Ryan. I could see that his face was shocked and started piecing together of what happened. He was young to be a doctor but then again most Alpha’s graduate early to pursue their profession and rise early. That was just how Alpha’s were.

I heard Alpha Snow howl for silence and the Den quieted down to listen.

“Alpha Angel lead our Pack to victory! Show him the same respect you show us! For he is no Omega-Born!” The Pack turned to me in surprise that I was the wolf Alpha Snow was talking about.

“Howl,” the Medic told me and held a hand near my throat. I took in a breath and let out my most powerful howl. If I am to howl may as well make it a point to prove Alpha Snow’s words.

I could hear the metal ring and the howl bounce off the walls in an echo. It was truly musical.

“That is our Alpha! He single handedly took on the Rouge Leader and Won! He has proven himself Strong!” I heard Alpha Snow say after my howl quieted down. the Medic checked my wounds making sure that they had healed properly.

The Pack had looked at me for a moment and lowered their eyes in respect and started celebrating our victory. This time praising my name as well. Justice wasn’t happy and growled, ‘They’re lies.’

“When they told me that you took on the Rouge Leader alone I didn’t believe it until I saw your pelt. I’m sorry for doubting you Alpha Angel.” I touched my nose to his shoulder forgiving him and watched the celebrating den. “Thank you... Ahem, Thank you for protecting our Pack. I hope you continue to get strong to protect us in the future.”

I felt at ease at his words, it was nice having wolves look to me for protection and safety. They were counting on me to get stronger to continue to protect them, it was such a nice feeling. Will this feeling pass to my wolf Justice?

“Silver Moon!” Looking to the voice of the Omega Instructor, I felt a slight tug at my fur and soon was smoothed down gently. I was being brushed and the Omega Instructor took the brush and started brushing me on my other side.

Soon I felt something wet run over my pelt and a quick look at the rag that was being used was dark. If it was mine or not was unknown to me and looked at the gathered Pack before me singing praise trying to ignore the worried look they both had shown while cleaning me up.

I watched as a few Alpha’s turn to me and smile and I couldn’t help but feel that they resented me. Like everything the Alpha’s did was fake. I decided to ignore it and continue to focus on myself.

Through the people as they walked around I saw a single person standing still, they were covered in fur and skin. I sniffed and smelled fresh pine, earth, the bitter cold, under it I smelled the salt water and fish. We gazed at each other for what felt like an eternity the people passing between us were nothing but a blur.

She smiled nodding slowly, then brought up a cup or bowl from the floor. She drank from it and then blew whatever was in it towards me. For a moment it looked as if she breathed fire and I could see small figures running in the flames. She raised the bowl high and I was then shook from my daze gently on both my shoulders.

I first looked at Medic Ryan on my left then to the Omega Instructor on my right.

“You can get dressed now, Silver Moon,” she said gently and I turned my gaze to Medic Ryan. He was frowning but nodded saying that he was finished and started packing up. “Let me help you, Silver Moon.”

“Don’t let the first battles spook you,” Medic Ryan said as he stood with his bag and left. I tilted my head a bit and wondered why he would think that I would easily be scared of something like this?

“First? I’m prepared that this isn’t the last,” I said and turned to the Omega Instructor. “I appreciate your help. I ask that you don’t do this again.”

“Oh,” she sounded sad but didn’t give up, “Shift so I can help you put on your clothes.”
I stared at her for a moment and started noticing that her features weren’t as soft as an Omega-Born’s. I quickly sniffed at her and realized that he was an Alpha. I guess I’m completely at fault myself. Most Omega-Born’s I’ve met were females and I’ve also noticed that our Pack was mostly filled with Omega-Born’s.

Was Alpha Rodger bringing in discarded Omega-Born’s?

Sighing, noticing that he wasn’t about to give up just because I asked. Alpha’s never do as asked unless you show them that you can pin them down. I can’t really do that to this one because he’s not looking for a fight.

“If you’re shy we can go to the classroom-” I clicked my teeth at him instead of growling. If it worked for the Alpha from before then I can use it here.

“I don’t need help,” I huffed, nearly holding back a growl. I shifted and picked up my clothes and started putting them on. Omega Instructor had somehow managed to help me after all at first by passing me my clothes and then helping with my socks and shoes.

I wasn’t sure if I should have been annoyed or mad. Growling out a sigh, then the Den quieted down at the sound of the Alpha’s howl. I was going to tell the Omega Instructor off but that now had to wait.

Meanwhile he wasted no time at all in picking me up and holding me close while my back was turned.

“Northern Waters! The Rouges are no longer a threat to our Pack! Thanks to our skilled Alpha’s who have taken care of them. We celebrate our warriors!” The Alpha’s howled and soon the Den was filled with it.

“Silver Moon you’re so brave!” Omega Instructor said over the howls and held me close.

“Alpha Angel,” I recognized the voice of Delta Christopher and looked at him while I tried to push the overbearing Omega Instructor. “Alpha Jay, follow.”

“Omega Love,” Omega Instructor growled but followed the uniformed man.

“Alpha Angel, Omega Love, as you know I’m Delta Christopher. I am instructed to take Alpha Angel to convert him from Alpha to Delta for the remainder of his Training. Seeing he won’t need to take the Alpha Labyrinth and showed exceptional skills in leadership and deployment of wolves.”

“Why is he being transferred? Won’t we get to see him anymore?” Omega Love asked.

“You can still see him, as for the reason of his transfer is because of the reasons I’ve stated.”

“Why doesn’t he need to take the test?” Omega Love asked worried, “Is it because of...”

“He’s taken it when he was 7,” Delta Christopher stated and arrived at the door beside the Alpha Labyrinth entrance. “And passed. Follow me closely from this point on.”

The door opened revealing a dark staircase with someone standing near the door and the stairs. The light didn’t reach further than the door or the railings of the stairs. Omega Love held me closer and quickly stuck close to Delta Christopher in the grey darkness before the door shut behind us.

“We are in the Delta Cave, please watch your step as we decent 2 kilometers,” It felt like the stairs zigzagged down like the Omega District homes. “We are classified as Assassin’s for the Pack, we take care of troublemakers that are too hard to handle for the Alpha’s up there.

“We specialize in torture, hunting and stealth. We are precise with our attacks to either cripple or kill the Target. We hunt people like the Pack hunts for Prey. We work in darkness and rely on scent and sound alone while the Pack enjoy’s the Sun and Moon light.

“Alpha Angel,” Delta Christopher hasn’t stopped talking and I already understood the pattern of the decent of stairs. My guess is that this was an introduction and to help calm Omega Love. “You were enrolled by Alpha Rodger and your Father Alpha Darius. They believe that you were meant to be here and after watching you during the Mission. I believe you were also meant to be here.”

“The Failed didn’t make it,” I stated having figured out what Delta Christopher was getting at. I thought it was strange that the Failed didn’t come in with Oliver and the mention of what the Delta’s were. I didn’t kill any wolf during the Rouge Attack I only fought against the Rouge Leader.

“I have looked at your battle records while you were in Alpha Training and it looks as if you have taken complete control of the Alpha Den. Alpha Oscar praised your fight with him and while in his care you have gained full control as you patrol with him and his Beta.” Omega Love gasped at this at first smelling of fear but it was soon washed away. “Yes, Omega Love you have chosen well for a mate.”

“Oh uh... we’re not-” Omega Love stuttered.

“Down here we rely on Scent and Sound. Are you trying to say the Scent Claim is not true?” Delta Christopher stated. Omega Love made a strangled noise and quickly tried to say that it wasn’t true. “Hm, Claiming a mate early is good. Delta’s respect Scent Claim’s and will leave Alpha Angel alone.”

“Sounds like a hassle, if I don’t have a mate down here will I be constantly harassed?”
“Most likely, Alpha Angel.”

“I don’t mind a Scent Claim from Omega Love if he’s fine with it. As long as I can focus on my Training.”

“Speaking of, Alpha Angel were going to teach you the way of Delta’s we ask that you keep your training a secret from any other wolf. Meaning you can not teach another wolf how to be a Delta,” I agreed and Delta Christopher continued to explain my living conditions. “Your Father Alpha Darius requested for you to have a normal life on top of being a Delta. We’ve arrange for you to go up once a month while your Mate can visit once a week.

“Remember these are privileges. Delta’s work in the dark and are kept from Top Side. Meeting your Mate is a given down here but try not to get carried away Omega Love, he’s yet to experience-”

“A-Yeah! Right of course! It’s not like that at all uh... um...”

“Here we are. Both of you need to Scent the door to your right. Omega Love you can stay down here until the first ring of the bell meaning that it is time for Bed.” With that I heard Delta Christopher walk away. Omega Love opened the door and set me on the floor but not letting go.

“Are... are you mad?” Omega Love asked quietly as we stood there adjusting to the darkness.

“Should I be?” I asked wondering what he would say about Scenting me without permission and forcing me to pick him. Well, if he’s fine with pushing others then it should be fine to use him so I won’t have to worry about watching my tail.

“I scented you without permission,” so he admits it. I guess it’s a start. I’ll tell him that I’m not interested in him in that way and ask if I can use him so that I can focus on only my training.

“I’m aware, at first I was going to reject you when we reached our destination. But after hearing that I’m going to be bothered if I don’t have a Scent Claim on me...” I said and realized that I was being far to cold. “If I had a choice on mates I would have choosen someone else. Seeing as you’ve given me no choice you’ll have to take responsiblily. My only focus will be training and until that is finished will our... Relationship be terminated.”
