I had to get out of the house. It was so suffocating being in the same room as Caden.
Why did he have to sit right next to me when we ate?
I arrived at my hotel and Parker led me up to the ballroom. Today was important because it was the finalization for the building of the resort we planned to open on Jeju Island.
A hot spot tourist destination in Korea especially for honeymooners and I couldn't wait to be there for the final visit next week.
I entered the huge ballroom with all the seats arranged neatly for the presentation. I sat down in the front row with Parker next to me, he handed the outline for today's presentation to me as well as my iced chocolate drink.
I smiled like a little kid in Disneyland, "Thanks man, I needed this."
He chuckled, "Oh yeah? Is he that hard to handle?"
I realised he was talking about Caden and I shrugged, "He's just major cocky, I don't know what's wrong with him. This morning I saw a message on his phone from someone with the contact name 'Big Boobs'."
Parker laughed, "Well he's not called a Casanova for nothing."
"Yeah, he's so weird. He just stares at me and then says something stupid. His behaviour is obnoxious."
"That's what happens when you're young and rich I guess," he shrugged and I nodded, sipping on my iced chocolate.
Then something hit me, I was young and rich.
"Hey! Are you indicating that I'm obno-"
He chuckled and shushed me as the speaker came up on stage to introduce our presenter.
I grumbled and continued drinking my chocolate.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests. Today's presentation is for the final preparation and round-up for Flair Resorts on Jeju Island. I would like to thank all sponsors, shareholders and especially our President, Miss Cassidy Rose, for being here today."
Everyone applauded and I smiled, it was so exciting.
"Without further ado, may I introduce our presenter for today, Mr Caden Jones, Vice President of W.J. Architects."
I choked and coughed on my drink as everyone clapped again. Parker was patting my back, "You alright Miss?"
I stopped my coughing fit and looked up on the stage as Caden walked out, totally confident with a smile on his face.
His eyes met mine and he winked at me. Gosh he was so annoying.
I was so preoccupied with the Children's Foundation recently it totally slipped my mind that W.J. was also in charge of the building of my resort.
I never saw Caden at any of the meetings though, I always saw William Jones, his father.
He stood at the podium and adjusted the mic to a comfortable position. A smirk was dancing on his lips as he greeted everyone.
"Good morning everyone, today I would like to go through the stages of the completed building of the resort as well as what to expect for the site visit next week."
As he started the presentation I was angrily sipping my chocolate. I don't even know why I was so annoyed by his presence.
Halfway through the presentation though, I was completely intrigued. He managed to hold the audience's attention, even mine. He kept stealing glances at me but I didn't mind.
I had to admit, I was partly distracted by him. The presentation itself was amazing but damn, his charisma, his confidence, his piercing brown eyes and his broad shoulders made him own the stage.
I didn't realise it as well, but his brown hair had blonde streaks in it, accentuating his playful nature.
When he finally ended, I was impressed. I never knew he had that side of him, mature and taking full control.
After the applause died down, Parker took my empty cup from me and I realised I didn't even know I had finished my drink.
Parker told me to proceed to the next ballroom for refreshments and I could feel Caden watching me.
I glanced up at him and he caught my gaze.
I swore I felt my knees go weak. There was something in his eyes. I couldn't pinpoint.
"Miss let's go," Parker snapped me out of my trance and led me to the next room.
There was a huge buffet spread and I loved the desserts my hotel served. But even before I could reach the buffet table, some investors came up to me and were starting small talk.
I tried to keep a straight face but I was dying for some sweet stuff. Plus Parker went to help me make some phone calls regarding next week so I can't ask him to help me get some.
"Excuse me, may I borrow Miss Rose for a moment?" Caden appeared out of nowhere with a plate of desserts and a glass of champagne.
I smiled and shot him a thank you with my eyes and he smirked, telling me it was no problem.
We excused ourselves, "Goodness thank you. I was dying there." I reached out for the desserts but he held them away, "Sorry I have something to ask you as payment for these."
I watched him and folded my arms, annoyed, "Shoot, what is it?"
He seemed to be thinking of what to say, "Erm how did I do?"
"The presentation?"
He nodded.
"You did great, I honestly didn't expect that from you."
He smiled and it was probably the first time I saw his eyes sparkle like that.
"Wow thanks. Well I know I did well but still-"
Smith interrupted our conversation, "Sorry, Mr Jones you have a meeting in 15 minutes. We need to take our leave."
I nodded, "Yeah it's alright, go ahead." I smiled, secretly happy that Smith dragged him off before Caden could say anything stupid.
He handed the desserts and champagne to me, "I'll see you at home."
"Okay," the way he said it sent a shiver down my spine. A mental alarm went off in my head.
I waved goodbye to them and Caden winked at me again before walking out the door.
