"I’m glad everything is settled!" said Emma, smiling broadly. "How much is it? Let’s see. Okay."
Emma left some money on the table, next to the bill. The amount caught Millie’s attention.
"Emma, wait. You’re not leaving any tip for Eurys… again."
"Who?" Emma didn’t make eye contact. She was standing up and putting her cell phone in her purse.
"Eurys. The waitress. How many times—?"
"It’s not like they don’t pay them enough already, silly. Let’s go."
"Okay, but go first."
Emma left the bar and went to the car to start it. When Millie made sure she listened to the car’s engine, she took some money from her bag and added it to Emma’s money.
"I saw what you did there," the voice came from behind.
"Eurys?"
"You’re adding my tip… again. You don’t have to. Honestly, I don’t care."
"Well… I… don’t have a problem either… I mean… she invited me, right? It’s not a problem for me to add the tip."
"I can see that. Well, bye. Have a good time. Great performance, by the way."
"Thanks."
After Eurys left, Millie took her bag and stared at the table, the bill, the money. She was lost in her thoughts when she got a message on her phone.
"Aren’t you going to come? Don’t leave me alone, my pretty partner in crime."
Partner in crime?, she thought, yeah, maybe I am. I have to do it anyway if I want my friend’s help.
