“Im Gayoon….”
“And my brother, they have similar appearance….”
He’s unable to get a word out. By that, Daehwan recalls any memories to which brother does she mean, because both Jiyeon and Hayeon don't look like Im Gayoon at all.
Then he remembered that Jiyeon ever told him about her deceased younger brother. Except he never knew his face, so Daehwan has no idea how much they’d look alike.
“I have no idea.” I’m sorry.”
“Are you uncomfortable with that?”
“No, I’m fine. And keep it a secret from Im Gayoon about this.”

“Hello…”
A young man approached the cafe where Evelyn was sitting. His light brown hair was wavy and volumized. He was taller than average Korean men with a firm figure. Wearing a casual long sleeved shirt, and bringing a rolled up large piece of paper and a hand bag he walked inside confidently. The man hesitated to open his mouth again when he saw Evelyn’s appearance. He thought was approaching the wrong person, so he called out her name, “Ms. Evelyn Yang?”
“Yes. Have a seat, please.”
The young man sighed in relief.
“I thought you can’t use Korean. I was worried for a second, I’m sorry.” He was stuttering and embarrassed.
“It’s fine.”
They ordered some drinks and snacks before continuing the talk.
“How should I address you, Mr. Im Gayoon?”
“Just call me Gayoon. Like hyung used to.” He smiles politely.
The beverages finally came and they put it aside. Gayoon was spreading the paper on the table and preparing some stationeries.
“Sorry if I’m being impolite. But…. are you dating Daehwan hyung?”
She nodded. Gayoon can’t hold his curiosity and ask her on a whimpse. He blushes as she smiles back. Flustered by Evelyn’s kindness to answer that private matter, and by her stunning foreign appearance. Even the other customers couldn't take their eyes off her since she’s entering the place.
The talk goes into a serious topic regarding the revision plan presented to her. It is his first time meeting Evelyn following a few times of canceling. The appointment kept colliding with their schedules, they've only talked by phone so far. So that’s why he’s never seen her in person and didn’t know what the face of the person Daehwan was talking about. Instead Jisoo was sent to meet up and brought the modified blueprint she made.
It goes on quite long. The final revision, the visiting and scheduling of location progress checking. The meeting went casual and convenient for both parties, Gayoon relieved Evelyn was fluent in Korean and his explanation was clear to her.
“How did you know him?”
Curious by the fact he’s also dazzled by Im Gayoon on their first meeting, Jisoo asked Evelyn how she met that young man.
“An acquaintance by Daehwan’s reference.”
Gayoon’s car was gone on the road once he arrived to pick up Evelyn.
Jisoo opens the car door for her.
“That face kept surprising me even though I’ve seen it a few times already.”
“I know right? A face that’s been long I haven’t seen.”

Jisoo’s going here and there the whole day. He just came back from picking up his mother then Evelyn called him and asked to be picked up near his apartment complex. Now she asked to be taken to her parent’s house by one of Gangnam's luxury clusters.
“Are you sure you don’t need me there?”
“Your presence would be a question instead of a help.” She furrowed.
“Call me when you’re about done.”
“Yes.”
She answers faintly and strides to the front yard of the house.
The news about Hayeon getting arrested by police for illegal substance abuse was flipping the house upside down. Their grandfather even kicked and threw some beating to the kid. They couldn't do anything when Mr. Yang was involved. Though it’s already unlucky the day after his release for paying fines and warranty, he already got beaten up by his father.
So Daniel Yang called her up to their house to elaborate on how the coincidence of knowing Hayeon was having a junk party was her finding it first rather than anyone else in the house. Obviously it was Yoonseo’s idea to call her in. She must’ve put suspicion on her for setting it up.
An instant slapping landed on her cheeks. She stumbled to the floor right after stepping inside the house. That lady was really in wrath even grabbing her hair and shouting out of her lungs, “You insolent brat! Are you losing your mind?”
Seconds later she tries another beating, then her husband yells and fetches Yoonseo away from Evelyn.
“Are you out of your mind?!”
He tensed and grabbed Yoonseo’s shoulders, pulled her in front of his face. Fresh blood ran down Evelyn’s torn lips. One of the house maids hurried and offered a handkerchief to wipe the blood away. She grouches in pain as her cheek reddened but her father asks them all to come inside the living room and close the door.
Her father, Daniel Yang and his wife Yoonseo sitting on the same couch. Hayeon was sitting alone and Evelyn was sitting opposite her parent’s. Hayeon’s face was also beaten up, yet healed. The meeting as if they were in a judgment to prove her innocence in the involvement of Hayeon’s arrest.
The room pulls out tensed air, her impatient ego initiating the conversation.
“I know you suspected me. But I have eyewitnesses to prove my alibi.”
“I was having dinner with someone at my house.”
“You could hire someone to do the job. You think I’m stupid?” Yoonseo scoffed at her defense.
“Isn’t it enough for you to get to your position now? Why are you still bothering my son?”
She gives Evelyn seething eyes, soon she bursts into tears. It’ll make anyone see her thinking she’s the most unfortunate woman in the world.
“Whether I’m hiring people or not in the arrest of him, Hayeon abused drugs. Isn’t it enough to be a reason for the authorities to catch him?”
“But he won’t get caught if-”
Evelyn cuts her off her nonsense talk. “So you'd rather see your son use drugs and ignore the fact of it?”
“I don’t think you see the big picture here…”
As she guessed, Yoonseo pulls her crying card.
The more she’s been there it becomes more useless talking to her. NOt helping with the situation, Daniel Yang seals his mouth tight. Isn’t it obvious there’s something off about him? However she is uniterest of it. Evelyn just wants to get out of that house as fast as possible.
“It doesn’t mean I’m not crying, so I am the villain of the story.”
“Nevermind. You’re already hating me enough to open your eyes wide.”
The situation is chaotic. So does Hayeon, shutting his mouth up the entire conversation. Knowing his best even though if he’s guilty his mother would still stand up for him. He is aware of his wrongdoing and shouldn’t get any justification yet he’s just too spoiled under mommy’s armpit.
“If you’re done, I’ll excuse myself then, father.”
Evelyn stood up and swung the door open. She strides out of the house down to the end of the road alone. A shabby car’s waiting there.
The man behind the wheel was shocked to see her bruised face when entered the car.
“What’s going on?!”
Daehwan caressed the cheeks gently, checking on her.
“I became a naughty girl.”
She grins and snickers
