Chapter 12 - This is me

Chapter 12 - This is me

Jun 23, 2022

It was the days that followed like a blur that shook the capital. Nobles and high-ranking merchants alike were stumped to find that not a single soapland business or bar was open at night. Not to mention, new guards were all over the district protecting the businesses. Every business from retail to soapland had a poster on its doors and walls proclaiming their sudden temporary shutdown.

Many figured that this was their rebellion against their neglect and mistreatment. They believed, that the residents in this area would give up after a few days. Because as much as the nobles, aristocrats, and regular citizens wanted the district, the district needed them more than they need it. They were confident. Confident and wrong. After a week, the signs never disappeared and at night, the streets were still quiet. No one dared to enter the district in the daytime for image purposes and this served to benefit the young woman who had arrived a week prior.

It was during the day that she acted. With skills only seen from the Southern Continent, she instructed everyone on how to better operate. In one day she had the dirt paths rebuilt into roads that rivaled the noble districts. On day two, she had taken a full census of the residents and broken them down into groups. She had nearly 200 children under the age of 14 who needed education desperately. No one would last long if they could not read, write, and do basic math so she set forth a school for the children.  When the king and queen asked her why she didn’t want the children involved, the look she shot at the two of them was beyond icy and dragged them aside. The full house never brought it up again.

On days three through five, she had managed to refurbish two buildings meant to act as schooling and housing for the children of the district. A makeshift daycare and a primary school were in one of the buildings. The second was housing. Both of which were beyond basic but would do until she had more concrete ideas.

All men and women who could not or did not want to partake in the sexual nature of the district were hired to be teachers there. Adults had a separate class. And it was in the midst of her explaining her new policy of sending children to school and providing dorms for them that she was met with resistance.

“Why are you not selling the children? They unexpectedly have a good profit...” One voice spoke up. His name was Marcus and beside him was his sister Mari. The two of them were fairly old, probably in their late 50s, and had a lecherous look to them. Their light brown hair had strands of grey here and there. Both had the common out-of-shape figure of those who gorged themselves on their worldly desires and did not pay the ones who did the actual work.

Salem wore her trademark black leather pants and white blouse. These past few days, anyone who spotted her found her in that outfit. Her body was adorned with the jewelry she first wore when she arrived. From her hair to her clothes, she remained unchanged but ever still enchanting. The Full House all kept their lips shut tight and looked away from the new head and the fools who had dared to evoke her anger today.

They had learned their lessons weeks ago all for respective reasons. When she first mentioned this to the four, they too brought up resistance. One icy smile from Salem and a transportation magic trip to the Forest of No Return later had them singing all new tunes.

So, the four silently sipped their respective drinks while the rest of the committee seated at the table silently sided with the pedophilic twins.

Salem’s red eye’s flashed dangerously before she smiled that oh-so-sweet smile she gave the Full House days prior. She didn’t ask if anyone else agreed with them. Salem just nodded and continued with the meeting. At the end of the meeting, the four former leaders stood up and walked out of the room. Salem stayed seated with that same smile plastered on her face. Just as everyone else was about to get up, they found themselves unable to move. As if countless coils were wrapped around their legs and bodies.

Every person still seated began to sweat profusely when they realized death was coming for them sooner than they realized. Every person started to struggle with the invisible bonds that kept them seated as Salem finally stood up and walked over to the despicable twin pair that had tried to defend the idea of selling children for sexual exploits. She stood behind them with one hand on each shoulder. Now that they all saw her standing at her full height, they had no choice but to admit that the woman was beautiful and terrifying.

Salem waited patiently for them all to stop struggling before she opened her mouth. The smile was wiped from her face and her eyes had gone completely cold.

“I’m only going to ask you all one time. I suggest you tell the truth if you want to live. These two have had their fate decided from the moment they opposed me.” The words that came from her mouth bore nothing but malice. And they could all see the death grip she had on the pair.

“Which of you support the selling of children?”

Outside the room, the Full House could only sit and listen to the muffled screams of those dying inside the room they had just left. When Salem’s magic opened the door back up, only two out of the 8 members were left seated. And while they could not see a speck of blood in the room, the smell seeped into the walls and floors. The last two members left alive looked straight ahead with a pale complexion. They had a slight tremble throughout their whole bodies and tear stains ran down their cheeks.

Salem sat at the head of the table with a nonchalant look on her face.

“Are you comin’ in or not?”

That question woke them up out of their daze and the full house quickly scrambled to their seats. They did not want to test this woman further.

She is not here to fuck around. I love it. Fuck pedophiles. Look at her face bruh. You can see the murder in her expression.

I shall not lie. They had it coming. I'm shocked four other people were foolish enough to suggest selling children though. After a threat like that, surely you would be smart enough to start backtracking.

Salem is a burlesque dancer about to make it big on the theatric stage. The very day she gets the notice she's been waiting for, Salem opens her eyes to find herself smack dab in the middle of a summoning circle. Her summoners are none too thrilled to find that the saint candidate they were praying for is not a petite and dainty young girl, but a dark-skinned woman with a temper and fast reflexes to match. Salem immediately pieces together her current anime/manga situation and realizes that this is not a dream but a reality where she is clearly unwanted. With only her wits and physical prowess from years of intense cardio, she attempts to escape, only to be outmatched by a power she didn’t know existed.

300 years later, Salem hasn’t aged a day but the prison she’s locked down in has seen better ones. With a war raging above her head, all the restrictions that kept her bound no longer have control over her. Salem only has survival and vengeance on her agenda as she escapes from her bonds and begins her life anew with eggs to raise. As Salem runs to the forest to recuperate and catch her bearings, the years go by and everyone around her asks if she would rather be comfortable or alive.
