LGBTQIA+ Support Lines 

  1. The Trevor Project: (866)-488-7386 [Typically helps queer teens, but provides aid to those up to 25 years of age “with LGBTQ-sensitive trained counselors”. This is for when you or a friend is struggling with mental crisis/suicidal thoughts]

  2. True Colors United: (212)-461-4401 [Helps contribute to solving the unique experiences of LGBTQIA+ teens. Since up to 40% of homeless youth are queer]

  3. THRIVE Hotline: (313)-662-8209 [Trained to help queer youth going through a mental health crisis. However, “If you are not in an acute crisis, but are dealing with stress as you navigate identity, orientation, or barriers to academic and professional entry, THRIVE can help!”]

  4. SAGE Hotline: 877-360-5428 [Helps LGBTQIA+ elders or those caring for them]

  5. Trans Lifeline: (US) 877-565-8860 or (Canada) 877-330-6366 [“Staffed by transgender people for transgender people” trained to handle various developments such as struggles with gender identity to suicidal thoughts]

  6. LGBT National Help Center: (Toll-Free National Line) 888-843-4564 or Youth Talkline 800-246-7743 [Helps queer people of all ages with issues such as “bullying, workplace issues, HIV/AIDS anxiety, coming out, relationships, safer sex, and more.”] 

  7. Pride Institute LGBTQIA+ Residential and Out-Patient Program: Admissions number is 952-934-7554, a 24-hour number for a no-cost assessment is (800)-547-7433  [Helps queer individuals struggling with addiction. For ages 18 and up]

The National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE) or 1-800-787-3224 (TTY) [“The Hotline serves as the only domestic violence hotline in the nation with access to more than 5,000 shelters and domestic violence programs across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Advocates receive approximately 21,000 calls each month. The Hotline is toll-free, confidential, and anonymous.”]

The National Centers For Victims of Crime (NCVC): 1-800-FYI-CALL [“NCVC can help find local victim services counselors for young people in trouble. NCVC is the nation's leading resource and advocacy organization for crime victims and those who serve them.”]

The National Dating Abuse Helpline: 1-866-331-9474 [“The Helpline is accessible by phone or online chat and offers real-time, one-on-one support from peer advocates trained to offer support, information, and advocacy to those involved in dating abuse relationships as well as concerned friends, parents, teachers, clergy, law enforcement, and service providers.”]

Break The Cycle: [“Break the Cycle’s mission is to engage, educate, and empower youth to build lives and communities free from domestic violence. Break the Cycle provides resources and information for teens, educators, parents, supporters, and the media.”]

Love Is Respect: [Works with Break the Cycle and The National Dating Abuse Helpline to guide youth struggling in their relationships. “The site includes an overview of the issue (e.g., early warning signs, types of abuse, the cycle of abuse), quizzes for teens to determine whether they are experiencing or inflicting abuse, a live chat feature that connects youth with a peer advocate 24/7, videos, a blog, and more.”]
