Riza instantly grabs the winged Longsword and runs out on the street followed by the smith.
A man in armour lays slain on the road. Two stinking fleshy humanoid creatures are walking towards a frightened civilian.
"What the fuck are those?!" The smith yells confused.
Riza feels her body tensing up. The urge to run gets stronger as one of the creatures turns towards her.
A soft voice in the back of her head starts speaking. "Do not run my child. I will guide your hand in this fight."
With a loud scream Riza swings at the closer of the two creatures.
Her strike connects and cuts deep into the rotting flesh. As the sword hits a radiant glow emanates from the blade. The creature gurgles and screams. A feeling of unknown power flows through Riza. Her opponent starts glowing from within before exploding into a stinking cloud.
The second creature turns around and lumbers towards the smith taking a swipe at him.
An agonising scream follows as the smith falls to his knees holding his bleeding chest.
He tries to crawl away from the creature which takes another swipe at him with its claws. The smith manages to pull his head away just in time.
With the creature turning its back to Riza she swings the sword at it. The blade carves deep into the back of the stinking bloated monster.
The monster explodes the same way as its friend.
As the tension fades, Riza feels her knees shaking. “You did well my child. Next time you won’t need my guidance.” The voice in Riza’s head assures her.
She falls to her knees and starts to puke.
Slowly the smith gets back on his feet. "You are a holy fighter aren't you?" He asks as he stumbles over to Riza, helping her back on her feet.
"A paladin to a god." He adds as an explanation and gives Riza something to wipe her mouth.
Out of a gut feeling Riza places a hand on Smith's wound. Energy flows through her hands. The chest wound slowly closes.
"I guess I am." Riza answers surprised.
With wide eyes the smith examines his healed chest.
He picks up the sword. “Take it. It’s yours. I have the feeling you will need it.”
“In the name of the king! What has happened here?” A towns guard is standing in front of the dead body lying in the dirt.
The smith slowly approaches the guard and explains the situation. During their conversation more guards arrive at the scene.
After a discussion and an examination of the body, the guard starts writing his report.
Riza doesn’t listen and just sits down looking at her new sword in her hands.
As the dead body is carried away, one of the guards comes closer to Riza. “Good day adventurer. We have started investigating the incident. Since you are one of the core witnesses I must ask you to remain within the city until further notice. Also there might be a reward for your actions.”
Riza looks up at the guard and nods.
She gets up and makes her way back to the tavern.
