“Are- are you real?” I said glaring at my reflection.
“Well, that’s a bit complicated to answer.” The voice chuckled. “In short, kind of.”
“What does that even mean? Who are you and why can’t I see you,”
“I’m Titan.” The voice said. “As for why you can’t see me, I guess it’s because I’m in your head. Our consciousness must have linked somehow.”
“How’s that possible,” I narrowed my gaze.
“I don’t know. One minute, I’m basking in the dark nothingness that is death, and the next, I’m in the body of a Soy-Boy-Beta-Kid.”
“I’m not a Soy-Boy-Beta-Kid!” I growled. I didn’t even know what half of that meant, but it sounded insulting.
“Well, stop being so sad all the time, it’s damn depressing.”
“Wait a minute,” Something clicked in my head. “If that was you helping me out in the bathroom, does that mean you can see everything I do?”
I watched my face turn quickly turn dark red in the mirror.
“Oh, Soy-Boy-Beta-Kid, wants to know if I’ve been watching you get down and dirty.”
Titan laughed and my jaw nearly dropped to the floor.
“Don’t worry I’m not that pervy. Most of the time I feel like a passenger driver your head. I see what you see, but I can’t control anything.” Titan explained. “If things get really… Wild. I can just get out of the car.”
My eyes widened.
“That sounds exactly like this video I saw in psych class about a girl with dissociative identity disorder.”
Oh, crap. I’ve officially done it. I’ve cracked and lost my mind.
“Please don’t tell me you’re one of those kids who takes one psych class and thinks they are a therapist.” Titan scoffed.
“You’re not real.” I said shaking my head vigorously.
“Well, now you’re just being insensitive.”
“You’re not real,” I repeated and placed both hands over my ears.
Just don’t listen to him, Maddy. You’ll get through this like you always do.
“I am too.” Titan grunted. “And I can prove it.”
La, La, La. Just ignore him.
“I knew your father.”
My hands dropped to the sink.
“You did?”
“Yeah, you two, look exactly alike.” Titan’s voice was distant, as if he was recalling old memories.
"That can't be right. My father looked nothing like me. He had dark hair and even darker eyes." I glared at my reflection.
Just the thought of him made my blood crawl and my skin feel prickly.
"Surely, you don't believe the monsters that took you away, were your parents?” His voice was seeping anger and it only made me frustrated as well.
"What are you getting at?” My hands gripped the sink and I leaned forward.
