For the fifth time that morning, Henry had to get up and carry Mason back to bed. It was just past five in the morning and they still had a few hours of rest since they weren't opening the cafe that day due to the cleaning they still had to do so they could start much later than usual.
However, Mason wasn't keen on lying around. He was eager to get up and go to Terrance's, but Henry knew that Terrance would be asleep and probably not love being woken up by his overly energetic mate.
"Mace, go back to sleep," Henry mumbled as he dropped Mason back on the bed and hugged him so the Omega couldn't run off again. "Terrance needs to sleep and so do you. It's also going to be a long day of cleaning for you since you're obsessed with organization, so you need more sleep!"
Mason whined and tried to get away, but Henry had no issues keeping him from running off. He huffed and relaxed, waiting for Henry to fall asleep so he could try to run off once again.
"I'm not going to sleep until you do," Henry said, knowing that Mason would just wait until he was out to run off again. "If it'll make you sleep, I'll let you call him. And, if he doesn't answer, you have to leave him alone!"
"Fine!" Mason exclaimed, excited for the chance to talk to his mate. "Give me your phone!"
Henry unlocked it, but before Mason dialed the number, he glared at his friend.
"You didn't change your passcode!"
Henry shrugged. "I'm honestly surprised you believed me," he said as Mason huffed again and dialed Terrance's number.
It rang a few times before Terrance answered, his voice rough from sleep. "Hello?" he mumbled, his deep voice making Mason's stomach flip.
"Hi!" Mason said, his voice cracking and making Henry laugh. "Uh, how are you?"
"Tired," Terrance groaned, but he sounded slightly more awake since he knew that Mason was the one on the other end of the line. "How are you?"
Mason smiled now that his mate seemed more awake. "I'm good! I just wanted to apologize for last night and tell you that..." he trailed off and glanced at Henry.
Henry gave him a 'what are you doing?' look, waiting for Mason to break the news and tell Terrance what he'd been whining about the night before.
"Tell me what?" Terrance asked, sounding more awake.
"That you're kind of a dick, but I think you're hot anyway and I hate kids but I'd totally have kids if you wanted them," he said quickly, cringing and looking at Henry, who had facepalmed and looked like he wanted to stab his friend.
"Um... thank you?" Terrance said, confused. "Did I drink last night and propose to you? I feel like I'm missing something."
Mason faltered before being able to gather the ability to relax and respond. "No, sorry, I'm still a little tipsy, I think," he apologized, trying to save himself from complete embarrassment. "Sorry about that."
"Where are you right now? Are you okay?"
"I'm with Henry. I'm fine, just... recovering?" He said the last part in a questioning tone, trying to come up with an excuse for the accidental word vomit. "And I'm still kind of tired so... can you come over and lay with me?"
Terrance laughed. "I'm really not in the mood to invade Henry's space, especially since I'm sure he doesn't have an extra room. Right?"
Mason sighed sadly. "Please?"
"Give Henry the phone, please?"
Reluctantly, Mason gave Henry his phone back and crossed his arms.
"Thanks?" Henry said curiously, holding the phone to his ear. "Hi?"
"Can you send me your address so I can come get Mason? That way you can get back to sleep since I'm sure you're as exhausted as I am and he's a little..."
"Stubborn?"
"I didn't say it."
Mason glared at Henry, knowing who he was talking about.
"If you want to, I'll text you my address," Henry said, to which Terrance agreed. "Thank you."
They hung up and as soon as Henry told Mason what he and Terrance talked about, the Omega ran to the door and waited like an impatient child.
Henry laughed, making Mason glare at him. "Eager?"
Mason bared his teeth. "No."
"You're sitting by the door like a dog."
"You're just mad that I have more friends!"
Henry raised his eyebrows. "I have no problem with you finding your mate, Mace. I've never cared as long as you're happy," he said, making Mason's anger melt into a gentle smile.
"Your future mate is so lucky to have someone like you," Mason said, hugging his friend but ripping himself away when there was a knock at the door. "But mine is even luckier to have me!"
Chuckling, Henry went back to his room to lay down. "See you at ten for cleaning."
Mason waved him off and opened the door, nearly knocking Terrance over when he leaped into his arms. Even though they weren't apart that long, Mason understood what Omegas at the cafe meant when they said that the mate bond made them feel like they couldn't feel safe or secure without their mate around. It didn't matter if they were mated or near heat; if they were making a connection, they needed to be around their mate.
"I'm still mad at you!" Mason snarled as he pushed his face into Terrance's neck. "You're such a dick!"
Terrance didn't respond, instead closing Henry's door and carrying Mason to the musty elevator and down the street to his apartment. He rubbed Mason's back as the irritated Omega continued to swear and grumbled, clearly still annoyed by the night before and tired since he hadn't slept much.
They got to Terrance's apartment and climbed into bed, with Mason still angrily cursing at Terrance.
"Why are you still mad at me?" Terrance asked through a yawn. "I know we fought but-"
"I'm mad because you make it hard for me to express how I'm feeling because I don't want to lose you! With other idiots I can tell them to leave and they will, but I can't say that to you because I don't want you to leave!"
Terrance opened his mouth to speak again, but fell silent when Mason continued to rant.
"Stop! Don't talk yet!" Mason shouted, crossing his arms and growling. "I need to figure out how to say this! I think-"
Terrance stopped him by pressing his lips to Mason's and shutting the Omega up. He laid on the bed and pulled Mason on top of him, continuing their kiss for several seconds before he released his lover's lips and smiled down at him.
"Sometimes you don't need to say anything," he said, kissing Mason's cheek.
Mason inhaled sharply before nodding and closing his eyes. "Yeah... that was okay, I guess."
"Okay?!"
"What can I say? Ezra is a really good kisser," Mason giggled, making Terrance growl and try to roll away from him, but Mason clung on. "I'm kidding! I'm kidding!"
Terrance scoffed and settled down, holding Mason close to his chest. "Go to sleep. When we wake up you can bleach your mouth so Ezra's germs are off of you."
Mason giggled again. "Aw, you're so jealous," he said, facing Terrance and kissing his nose. "Adorable."
Huffing, Terrance put a pillow in between his and Mason's faces. "Talk to the pillow."
Mason threw the pillow to the other side of the room and cuddled closer to Terrance, gripping the back of his shirt and bringing them closer together. "I'd rather talk to you."
"And I'd rather sleep," Terrance muttered, kissing Mason's forehead. "You should too."
Mason smiled and obeyed, closing his eyes and laying his head on Terrance's chest. He finally felt like he was where he belonged, the feeling warming him up and leaving him to doze off with a smile on his face.
