The servants waited in tense apprehension as they all saw the expressions the nobility wore when they neared.

The nobility and their guards had a serious grimness to them. The lady of the house seemed as though she wanted nothing to do with this and to run.

Soon enough, the Earl spoke. He began to drag his words the closer he got to the root of the matter.

Discourse erupted as the Earl told them about a massive lay off he will be putting to motion quite soon.

The servant's murmurs came back in full force as fear creeped in. One maid was frozen in shock, worrying endlessly if she will be affected.

"Quiet down! I am not done speaking.", the Earl loudly spoke.

The servants were quick to obey. His firm voice did nothing to hide the increasing ferocious of his eyes or the tightening of his lips.

"There had been an incident and we no longer require such an over abundant number of staff.", the Earl continued.

The Earl then aloud the guest to speak once he introduced her to them. She said she would be hiring a select few from the parting group to serve her.

Relief and anxiety flushed through the servants, as they eased at her words they do wonder what truly is going on for such a sudden the to happen.

After all, firing such a large group of staff without good reason is frowned upon. The kingdom has implemented new laws protecting servants recently.
