Read Splatoon 2 Fishyfest :: Valley Menagerie

Moonair was born somewhere in Octo Valley. He grew to be a low ranking guard and ended up watching DJ Octavio’s face off against the Squidbeak Splatoon. The Squidbeak Splatoon proved victorious, with the Calamari Inkantation freeing Moonair and the other Octolings from Octavio's control. Moonair then met up with two random Octolings and formed a group to ensure success in escaping Octo Valley.

The group decided to flee to Inkopolis, but they were driven off course by a tribe of Salmonids. In their time lost in the Wasteland, the group bonded and became very close. One day, they were all searching for supplies until they were suddenly attacked by a strange creature, leaving them all individually separated in the Wasteland. Moonair trekked for days before meeting a traveling Lobster who immediately decided to help Moonair in his journey to Inkopolis.
