Luna
I limped through my door and hurried to my bathroom. Leaving a trail of
blood behind me, I turned on the light and stifled a scream at the grotesque
sight in front of me. My leg was torn to pieces, so deep, I could see bone. I
hurried to get it cleaned up. The edges of the wound were black, a putrid
sulfuric odor was coming from the yellow liquid that was mixed with my blood. I
knew I couldn’t go to the hospital; how would I explain how it even happened,
or the smell? I wrapped it in a bandage and hurried to clean up the blood on
the stairs and hallways. After I was finished and the house smelled of
bleach and soap I went to bed.
It was fitful sleep, I had strange dreams the whole night, filled with faraway lands I had never seen myself, castles made of fire, and a teenage boy that looked strangely familiar. Blood stained these dreams, and the feeling of love and terror haunted me, even as I was waking up.
One of the dreams featured a young woman, that bore a striking resemblance to Snow and I. She was beautiful, and for some reason I knew who she was. Her name was Lucia, an Alpha from a very long time ago…but how did I know her? Why was I dreaming about her?
I was woken in the morning by my parents and the smell of coffee, that cookie last night not only slowed down my reaction times…it had also knocked me out for the night. Despite the dreams, I felt great. I got up and stretched I was rubbing my eyes, trying to rub away the remainder of my dream when I noticed my leg, and saw that blood had seeped through the bandages, I went to get out of bed, but before my feet even touched the ground, my vision blacked out, and I was transported somewhere else, it was something I could only describe as a vision;
The cliffs were high above the five wolves, they were, searching, looking for the one they must defeat. Fire and brimstone surrounded the saviors, the All Powerful One cowered in the shadows waiting plotting his attack; picking out the weakest link, Echo whose emotions were in turmoil, and the strongest Snow, the purest of them all. One shall fail one shall become the Most Powerful.
I woke up from the vision and the room was cold; my leg wasn’t covered in blood any longer, how strange. I eased myself onto my elbows, my parents came running into my room, I must’ve screamed without knowing it.
“Luna darling are you okay?” my mother questioned and her eyes looked down and saw the bloody bandage on the floor. “What happened to you?”
“I had a vision just now and we were attacked by a female Unspeakable last night after bowling. She got to me before I completed my change and tore a chunk from my leg. But after my vision I was completely healed.”
“This is troubling. I’ll call the Elders.” My father left the room not even checking to see if I was alright. Valentine Everett was always business; even when it came to me.
“Mom, who’s Lucia? What’s Lucia’s Gate?”
“Call the other saviors, we must discuss your new ability.” She fled from the room and I wondered what I did to make them react this way. Wasn’t it normal to have visions as a Guardian? I grabbed my cell phone and hit call.
“Echo I have to tell you something.”
“Luna what is it? Oh, how’s your leg?”
“Fine but I need you to come to my house. Call Lycan and the others as well.”
“What is going on Lu?”
“Nothing to worry about, but just hurry…please Echo?”
“I’m on it.”
She hung up and I collapsed onto my bed defeated by what just happened, and realized I wasn’t normal, well in the sense of being a Guardian. I wobbled on shaky legs to my closet and pulled on a pair of yoga pants and a sweatshirt and as I was taking two steps at a time down the stairs my phone rang in my pocket. Startled I missed a step and toppled down the stairs and landed in a heap. I slowly answered the phone and whimpered a faint,
“Hello? This better be worth falling down the stairs for.”
“Uh yes terribly sorry Luna but I heard of your new ability, and just wanted to let you know that I’ll be attending the meeting as well.” It was Mr. Placksworth, so not worth it.
“Thanks, but I would have figured it out sometime don’t ya think? How the hell did you get my number?”
“Your file, watch that vile tone young lady.”
“I’ll tell you what to watch!” I hung up accidentally and didn’t bother to call back instead I propped myself on the stair railing.
My mother came into the hall just then and rushed to me.
“What is it darling? Did you have another vision?”
“No, I was coming down the stairs and I got a phone call and I was so startled I missed a step and fell.”
“Who called you?”
“Mr. Placksworth, help me up mom?”
“Of course, it’s just not your day huh darling?” She settled me on the couch and went to get me some tea.
