15- The night visitor (1)
Hugo reported the situation to Lain and he led an investigation unit there. Under the temple, they discovered a massive room filled with collocation of bones, mostly youngsters. The amount was in hundreds. The temple where people came to pray was the same place where people were tortured. burned underneath.
All the people who had a relationship with the temple were found dead, poisoned by Corrupted magic, and that was what teased Raihle the most. If Raven wasn't the one responsible for their deaths, it means another Sorcerer is involved.
He had discovered the terrible secret the temple held for many years, but there was no one alive to take the blame.
'Is this what the secret meant?'
His mind was uneasy; he felt like spiders crawling underneath his skin.
His memory was still hooked on the events of that night.
The High priest's bizarre behavior and suspicious death, the black worm coming out of him, the dead children, and the only survivor.
His finger was tapping the journal; there wasn't any news from Real Raihle.
If Real Raihle knew what was happening all along; why didn't he do something?
Why did hundreds of innocents had to die?
Raihle at that time, he was locked in a faraway territory, but if he was able to communicate with a goblin, he certainly was able to send a message to the emperor or anyone else.
But he chose not to.
"No, Did he even choose?"
Was the whole Soul Contract Raihle's choice?
He sold his soul to a goblin and erased himself from existing in this world.
Right now, all the clues indicate that it was Real Raihle's idea, but he couldn't exclude other possibilities.
*Knock*
"Your highness_"
He got up from his seat and opened the door as soon as he heard Loka.
"What is it?"
Loka’s face was a little awkward.
"The Sorcerer..."
"What's about him?"
He gave Raven a room at the same floor as him and at the end of the alley. He was assigned two maids; he had requested a doctor. Only he, Hugo and Loka knew that he was a sorcerer, so he didn't think he had to worry.
"He's..." Loka hesitated for a moment "rejecting the doctor."
"Ah."
Raihle didn't sound very surprised.
"Alright I will go to him."
Without waiting for a response, he left and headed to the little grumpy sorcerer.
Before As Raihle reached the room, he saw the doctor flying out of the door and slamming into the wall.
"Aha! Doctor! Are you all right?"
"Why Would you do that?"
The The two maids he assigned for Raven sprinted out and kneeled in front of the doctor.
"I told him not to touch me!"
Raven dirty hair was swirling around the table and the wooden chairs along the lamp were hanging in air, ready to be fired at them at any moment.
Raihle talked to the three. "That's enough; I will take care of it."
The maids bowed and dragged the terrified doctor away with them.
Raihle entered the room and closed the door.
"You can put them down now."
The The priest had mentioned that the sorcerer he made was originally a mage, and seeing him use magic right now assured him that it's true.
Raven was frowning but obeyed Raihle's calm voice.
"Hm!" He made a grumpy sound and turned his head away. "I don't need a doctor."
"Oh, really? Then who is going to bandage you?"
"I..I can do it by myself!"
Raihle went to the doctor's bag that he had left and took out a bottle of sanitizer, clean bandages, and patches.
"I will do it."
Raven scowled, and his eyes darkened.
"I said NO! Don't get close to me!"
The air started to swirl around him, the curtains moved and the furniture quivered. He forced the wind at Raihle's body, and his long hair started to flutter. however, he didn't stop.
The wind didn't hurt him; it only tried to push him back, but he didn't obey and cut his way through it.
Raven's eyes started to shake.
"I told you not to come! Stay away!" The air became harsher with his shout.
Raihle ignored him with cold eyes and reached out to him with his hand.
"Don't!"
Subconsciously, Raven closed his eyes tightly, and a sharp gust of wind sliced Raihle.
At At the same time, a hand rested on his head.
He opened his eyes and looked up, A long red line was on Raihle's white neck but his look was as clear and strong as ever, free from any kind human expressions. The eyes that made him feel uneasy and hard to look at from the first time they met; it looked so scary because it seemed that he would get lost if stared too much, but the same time, it gave off a warm feeling, covering him from head to toe.
The owner of these eyes caressed his hair and said without hesitation,
"Touching you won't kill me, Raven."
Raven instantly flinched and tightened his grip; he didn't even realize that he had stopped the wind long ago.
"Having a dangerous power doesn't mean you are dangerous. It's the same as person holding knife doesn't always make him a killer."
He continued to stroke his head, it was still filthy and gross because he didn't let the maids wash him up, but Raihle didn't show any sign of discomfort.
"Don't think much about it; you already know how to control it to not hurt anyone."
His eyes were frozen while staring widely at Raihle.
"How...how can you be so sure?"
He has the most lethal poison in the world in his body, any kind of spell he makes The corrupted magic will devour the life of any living being.
He's literally a walking bomb.
In every step he takes and every breath he takes, he imagine himself losing control and killing and everything roams around him.
That thought scared more than any pain he had been through.
"Isn't obvious?"
Raihle sounded indifferent, Raven blinked innocently.
"We are all still alive."
"Huh?"
"In your way here, you didn't kill anyone, did you?"
"I..."
"If you have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong and control your power depending on that, then what reason do I have to doubt you?"
Raven froze without saying a word; his mouth was slightly opened but didn't make a sound.
He could only stare into Raihle's calm face, the wind stopped and his hair that was fluttering and fell back to its place, even though it was a bit messy. line on his neck was shining brightly without bleeding out.
"If you understand now, sit down."
Senselessly, Raven was sitting on the bed while Raihle wetted a piece of cotton and started sanitizing his wounds.
He had injuries all over his body; some were old, and others were freshly made.
Raihle went through all of them and properly bandaged each one without speaking of a word.
Raven continued to watch him carefully during the silence.
