20- The night visitor (6)
Raven looked confused, and Raihle said again carelessly, "Ignore everything he said; you can do whatever you want." he paused for a second and said, "Well, as long as you don't kill innocent people, of course."
He was sure he wouldn't but added just in case.
"But..."
Raven's mouth kept opening and closing without saying a word.
"It's okay." He patted his head. "I didn't bring you here to control you, so feel free to do whatever you want."
Raihle felt Hugo's burning eyes on the back of his head but feigned ignorance, He knew he will definitely be the first to complain if Raven does something wrong.
Raihle continued to ignore the gaze and placed the food tray on the bed for Raven.
"Eat even for a bit; you need strength to recover."
Raven's eyes were fixed on Raihle for a moment, then he nodded and looked down at the dishes.
"What is this?!"
The hot mushroom soup was still steaming; next to it was a small plate of green salad, a couple of waffles, and lastly, fruit juice.
There wasn't a problem with the plates themselves; it was with the way they looked.
There was a tiny fox face made of mushrooms floating in the soup, the green salad was in the shape of a layered hatchling coming out of its egg, the syrup on the waffles looked like a bear with blue berries as its eyes, and the juice was colored in seven different colors layered above each other like a magical potion.
It was a normal breakfast, but it looked too cute.
It was specially designed to attract the eyes and open appetite.
Whoever made this paid double the effort, one for the cooking and another for decoration. That's what anyone would think of at first sight.
"There is no way I'm eating this!" Raven, however, was outraged and ashamed. "Do they think I'm three years old? Who made this?"
He will surely show them what it's like to be looked down on!
But his rage instantly cooled when Raihle said, "It was me."
"Hah!"
Three different gasps happened at the same time.
Raven, Hugo and Loka froze in shock.
"Y..y..you what?" Hugo stuttered.
Raihle answered and pointed at himself to make it clearer: "I made it."
Loka pointed at the tray and said, "You cooked this? Your highness? By yourself?"
"Yes." Then he said blankly and leaned to pick it up: "You don't have to eat it; I will ask them to make something else."
"No! Wait!" Raven shouted and pushed the tray away from Raihle's hands. "I will eat it! I changed my mind!"
Raihle slightly frowned "It's not good to force yourself."
"I'm not forcing myself, I will eat it; it's better than letting it going to waste."
"...Okay then."
Hugo was still processing, he shook his head with a puzzled look. "I won't even ask how you know how to cook," he pointed at the cutest food he have ever seen, "why make it look adorable?"
Raihle was silent; he was considering saying it or not and eventually told the truth "So children will be happy when they see it."
It was the most basic and innocent answer, said in an ice-cold manner.
Everyone was at a loss for words.
It's the truth is, there is no child who wouldn't get excited after seeing the cute shapes and beautiful colors all arranged in their meals—no, even adults would fall for it too.
But...
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Raihle couldn't understand the looks he received from the three.
"It just..." Loka started and then remembered the hot milk he got from Raihle in the library. It had a cute shaped foam, and at that time Loka assumed Raihle made someone in the kitchen make it, but now he realized it was actually him.
"That's Surprising," Hugo said while his eyes were still unblinking, "especially with your face..."
Raihle blinked, "My face? What's wrong with my face?"
"You know, you always look scary. It's surprising that you can make something so cute."
Raihle eyes widened and he tilted his head.
"Scary? Do I look scary to you?"
It doesn't make sense.
He would have understood if he was Hyun Wa. Not that he used to have a scary face, but rather he had a horrible reputation since he was a kid, which caused people to be afraid of him and have a bad impression on him, but he was in Raihle's body right now.
Raihle had a handsome, smooth face and delicate features that were much different than Hyun Wa, and most of the time no one even recognizes him.
That's why the surprised expression on his face was genuine, and it made Hugo speechless
"You...weren't doing it on purpose? I thought you were scaring everyone so they let you alone?"
"Huh? Why would I do that? "
"Huh?"
Raihle and Hugo stared at each other with confusion.
Raihle I couldn't remember a time he was intending to scare any one around him. He turned at Loka, "Were you also scared of me?"
Loka flinched and scratched his cheek awkwardly, "It's more like feeling uncomfortable, I guess? I apologize for misunderstanding you, your highness."
Hugo pointed out, "Then why were you acting so arrogant with the servants? They told me that you never called them by their names and never asked for their assistant."
Raihle frowned. "The reason why I never call them by their names is because they never told me what they are."
"Ah!" Hugo realized the misunderstanding that happened.
'those punks were probably too nervous; they forgot to introduce themselves.'
I couldn't blame them; Raihle had a gaze that made you forget what to say and makes you want to flee as soon as you can.
"_And I don't need to ask their help for unnecessary things."
It make sense.
Hugo felt bad because it made sense.
All this time, everyone, himself included, was getting the wrong idea about him.
He could never guessed that Raihle didn't have the slightest idea he was scaring people around him.
He looked at the meal that held hope and delightful colors.
'I wouldn't have guessed that he can make such a bright thing either.'
Raihle always looked cold and gloomy and sometimes older than his age, Hugo suddenly felt a bitter taste in his mouth when he came to realization that he doesn't know Raihle at all.
Raihle looked at Raven and asked, "What about you? do you see me as scary? well?" None of his students were ever scared of him so he was curious.
Raven didn't expect Raihle to ask him, "Mmm, just at first?"
Then he shook his head. "You're still scary but I'm not scared of you."
Raihle blinked in disbelief and subconsciously touched his face. He couldn't understand what made him scary to everyone, even though he didn't have a terrifying face or done anything crazy.
'Is it in my soul?'
The current Raihle and Hyun Wa seem to have a weird thing in common.
