“Excuse me, Mr. Shepherd,” Alosrin asked Arthur, “I know that the events may have been traumatic, but could you please tell me about what happened with the dragon?”
“Yea, sure,” Arthur responded before explaining the events with the dragon, leaving out the part about finding the sword.
“I see... now do you remember what that scroll said?” Alosrin asked, secretly beginning to cast a spell.
“No, I couldn't read it. Why?” Arthur asked, truly curious about the grandmaster's reasoning.
“That spell is part of a forbidden section of spells that require a sacrifice. We elves have tried to eliminate all of the spell scrolls, but it seems we missed one.” Alosrin responded, canceling his spell. “But are you sure that is what the dragon was angry about? That her eggs were destroyed by Narfad?”
“Yes, that is what she told me. If Lord Narfad hadn't ordered me to stay behind, or I would be tried for treason, I believe that she would have chased after him,” Arthur responded, turning his gaze to the window.
“I see” Alosrin started, “I shall inform his majesty immediately of Narfad's treason actions. Oh, and due think about my proposal, goodbye Mr. Shepherd.” After that Alosrin left the room without saying anything else, leaving Arthur all alone. Then came a knock on the door, just before Doctor Hret entered.
“Ah, Mr.Shepherd,” Doctor Hret began making his way to Arthur's bed. “How are you feeling?”
Well,” Arthur began, “I have been better. I felt really bad this morning for some reason but I'm fine now.”
“Ah,” Hret began, faking a smile. The night before he had injected poison into Arthur's IV bag, yet it didn't kill him. ”Well that's good to hear.”
“Oh really?” A voice called out from the doorway. It was the king. “Doctor Hret, we already know what you did, I suggest you surrender peacefully. I don't tolerate assassins.”
“Please forgive me, your majesty,” Hret begged, prostrating himself. “I would not have done this if... if... if Lord Narfad hadn't kidnapped my entire family and his holding them hostage. I beg you, even if you kill me, please save them, and punish Narfad.” The whole statement was shocking, who would believe that the nation's hero, would be so evil, yet Hret had to hope, for hope was all he had left.
“I believe him,” Arthur said, “having suffered because of Narfad's schemes as well I believe that the doctor is telling the truth.”
“I see,” the king said, thinking for a moment. “Given everything that has occurred, it would be better to make all of these incidents public. Aldrid, contact all the media and inform them of an emergency announcement from myself, to be done within one hour.”
“Understood your majesty,” the man next to the king bowed, before rushing off. Upon hearing the news of the emergency announcement, the media teams within the city rushed into action. Setting up the stage and all of the recording stones, took some time, but within an hour the media was ready for the King to give the announcement.
“Hello everyone, it is rare that I give such an address.” The king began, “and it is with a heavy heart that I tell you all this. As of right now, Narfad Kaur is to be determined a traitor to the nation. His charges include kidnapping, blackmail, and more. He is the reason the dragon went on a rampage, as he had destroyed her eggs. He is immediately stripped of all rights, and a full investigation into every event he had been a part of will take place very soon. Once I return to the capital I shall prepare a much more thorough report on this event. Goodbye.” With that, the king turned and left the stage, heading into the adventurers guild to meet with Alosrin as the media went crazy. Around the country, news stations were reporting two stories. One is on the false hero, Narfad, and the other on the dragon slayer, Arthur. As the royal army stormed Narfad's estate in the capital, they found evidence of even more crimes, including evidence of him working with another nation, but the name of that nation is unknown. During the commotion caused by The King's speech in Morrowburg however, Narfad took the chance to escape, leaving no trail as to where he went. After a couple of days, Arthur was released from the hospital and allowed to go home. Upon his return home, the village threw a celebration that went late into the night. However, he and Hikari both went home early, as it was time to do something they were both wanting to do since the day they got married.
