Ba-DUMP!!!* Ba-DUMP!!* BA-dump!*
I can feel every tear of sweat come out of my body, racing down as my heart pounces- it wants to explode! The burden sensation on my chest is gone as my brain scrambles through my skull; everything around me twirls around and around!
I can’t breath! I can’t breath!! I NEED AIR!!!
“GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!”
My vision is unclear as my brain adjusts. Nothing changes as everything is blurry. I squint my eye to see better, but there’s blood blocking my sight. I try blinking as my tears remove the blood. Finally, a figure slowly beings to shape itself.
It’s Death!
My breath is stolen as I try to scramble away from her, but I cannot feel the bottom of my waist. She keeps glaring at me while holding her dagger on top of her head; her grip tightens that her own hand turns red and white.
† “Aaaaaaaaaaah!” †
I try to cover myself as she drives her dagger towards me but purposely misses as her sharp weapon slams next to my head. Death grabs me by my shoulders and uncontrollably shakes me up and down.
† “Where is it?! †
I’m too scared to even squeak.
‡ “Stop it, sister. You’re scaring the boy. Look, you’ve even made him whimper. No one should cry like that; unless, it’s before god.” ‡
Death stops, quickly looks at Punishment, then me, and back at him.
† “It can’t be possible, the demon is gone! This child is not whom we’re after. It must be a trick! Yes, a hoax! The boy must be working for it! Where is the demon, sinner?!” †
Punishment rolls his eyes as he puts away his bloodied mace while jogging toward us. I’m still trying to shield myself and push her off until I notice-
“I’m missing my arm!”
This sends a jolt from my forearm all the way to my head. Terror fills me as I hold where my elbow should be as blood gushes filled with dirt and sweat. The pain doesn’t stop there, as a slight breeze brushes my eye socket.
This is the agony the demon was baring?! It’s inhuman!
Death hears her brother closer, carefully moves out of the way as they switch places. The moment Punishment grabs my right arm I lose control of my body and convulse; ether from the unbearable pair or his enormous size.
‡ “You’re right, sister. There’s no corruption in this weak boy.” ‡
† “What now?” †
Both Genociders turn their attention to their bishop for guidance.
‡ “Your greatness, by the doctrine: there are six things that the lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him- haughty eyes; a serpent’s tongue; hands that shed innocent blood; a heart that devises wicked plans; feet that make haste towards evil; a false witness who breathes lies; and one who sows discord among brothers…” ‡
† “The demon is gone!” †
‡ “Yes, sister; you don’t have to point the obvious. My sincere apologies, your holiness.” ‡
† “I’m sorry for the interruption, your holiness.” †
‡ “What are your orders, your holiness?” ‡
Aarzoo fascinated by the outcome strides to his two executors. As he does, Punishment notices the child has stopped convulsing and kneels next to Death.
“Both of you have proven yourselves indispensable, for the church; I couldn’t have ask for more. As for the boy, he may not make it in the sorry state you’ve left him but it doesn’t mean we will leave him here- his remains may be of good use. Call one of our ambulances and take him to the nearest hospital.”
‡ “Your words are too kind, your holiness; thank you.” ‡
† “We promise this will never happen again.” †
“Let’s pray it’s the last, the church may forgive and forget, but I don’t. Furthermore, before you let down the holy barrier please check every nook and cranny. This demon may be hiding somewhere in our holy circle, which is highly doubtful as it would have been exorcised instantly; worst case scenario, it’s in one of us. Please make a thorough search of everyone. I do not wish for this irritating demon to be running rampant. Let’s pray it really did go back to hell.”
6:23a.m.
‡ “Your holiness.” ‡
“I pray it’s good news.”
‡ “It seems the demon is gone; there are no senses of it. The last place we felt its presence was in the boy but there’s no malicious intentions coming from him- especially in his condition.” ‡
“And the boy?”
‡ “Death and some of the deacons were able to give him first aid to keep him stable. After what his body has gone, he will never walk.” ‡
“Is that all? It seems you have something else on your tongue.”
‡ “As always so keen to see through me, your holiness. We were able to identify the child. His name is Edison, son of Maria-” ‡
“Did my ears decisive me? Did you say, Maria?”
‡ “Yes, your holiness; the one and only.” ‡
“This night was not a total waste after all, with a conclusion such as that. I haven’t heard that name in decades. Let’s hope this incident doesn’t make it to Maria’s ears. For the moment, it would be wise to keep away. Who knows what kind of retaliation they would bring if they found out their precious baby was beaten by Genociders or worse, possessed by a demon. Then again, we could use this against them. How could they allow their own flesh and blood to be possessed by a dangerous demon under their nose.” Heh heh*
‡ “Your holiness?” ‡
“Yes yes. Take this stamp and get our best doctors with the highest medical attention for the child, approved by the bishop himself.”
‡ “Your heart is as kind as your soul, your holiness.” ‡
“As any bishop should be. As for Maria’s boy, set some guards by his room. If his parents show up, make any excuse for this incident.”
‡ “Your word is my command, your holiness.” ‡
“One last thing, keep an eye on your apprentice. I pray she will not step out of line in my presence again.”
Punishment bows his head in silence knowing he is responsible for Death’s actions as he quietly wanted for the bishop not to recognize her mistakes, but here he is being warned. If it was another bishop, they would’ve sown their mouths as an example rather than a light warning like this.
‡ I have sin and only me. I will correct myself for wanting a blind eye. ‡
Death finally receives the signal of approval from her brother to lower the holy-field. She grabs a special needle from her boot and quickly throws it onto the sky; making it crack and ripple. The deacons and their trainees begin taking off their cloaks as they’re wearing civilian clothes under, except for the Genociders- they just raise their hoodies and continue ordering everyone around. Some of the members change into construction uniforms and begin setting barricade tape around the places Death & Punishment left their “creativity”. Lightning rips from under the ground where the needle pierced the sky, in an instance lightning bolts wrap around the invisible bubble’s layer until they hit the ground around. Moments later, the sound of traffic is heard as cars are seen drive by and pedestrians meddling in their business; the sun is finally out.
† “Will we be guarding the spoiled brat?” †
‡ “Nonsense, we’re not babysitters. I’ll give the mundane task to our recruits so they may gain experience. We have other matters to handle. This assignment is finally over. We need to report back and find out more about the satanic cult vanishing and converting citizens in an abnormal rapid rate.” ‡
† “Too bad the demon disappeared. If we could have had a nice word with it we could’ve made massive progress! It knew the location of one of the gates and the name of several high ranking demons.” †
‡ “Don’t fester over it, remember we did exorcised several of them because of this one. If we have enough faith, this demon may return and show us the doorstep to hell. Not all our assignments will go smoothly. We’ve almost lost our heads today, by the bishop himself.” ‡
† “I couldn’t have asked for a better way to go.” †
‡ “Stop with the sarcasm.” ‡
† “You caught me. I rather die fighting hundreds, no, millions of demons by the side of my brothers and sisters! Until our bodies wither and our souls engulf themselves in the flame of god; so we may fight along side his angels.” †
‡ “Sister, you have quite the imagination and thirst for vengeance.” ‡
† “Is it wrong or have you become weak, brother?” †
‡ “You dare question your partner and mentor, sister?!” ‡
† “Hah hah hah* I’m just teasing you, let’s get the fuck out of here!” †
‡ “Watch your tongue, the bishop is near.” ‡
† “He’s gone, with all his minions.” †
Punishment looks around, the bishop really is gone with his subordinates. They only ones left are the lower ranks: some deacons and recruits who clean the mess.
‡ “You and you! Come over here. I have a special assignment from the bishop himself.” ‡
