Bodies covered in blood, some with their eyes gouched, others with their arms and legs ripped apart, there were kids screaming in agony, some crying others, the ones who didn't seem possessed by what seemed their worst nightmares,were in shock. To me an Alexander, who couldn't move, was what could seem the scene of the best horror movie, but this time it was all real.
I instinctively looked for my brother, when I finally reached out to him what I can see is a void in his eyes, almost as if he was dead inside, the only words I heard him mutter were: Sorry, brother...
-IT WAS YOU, RIGHT MONSTER?!-It was Teagan screaming at me, he had the expression of someone who had just discovered the worst secrets of the earth-YOU FREAK DID THIS! MY FATHER, MY FATHER IS NOW DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU-I looked down until my sight reached his left hand and what I saw left me horrified and with a nauseous feeling that left unable to reach for words to confront a person that, in that moment, was a madman, what he was holding in his left hand was nothing less than his father's head, who had been chopped by the pure strength of desperation; Teagans full body covered in blood and his face distorted by a crazy disfigured smile. Me, without knowing what to said and also scared to death by this I tried to reach slowly to cover Jonny.
-DONT MOVE!-Teagan said with his whole body trembling.
But it was too late he had already accidentally pulled the trigger, my brother just stopped moving and then breathing, his cold red eyes turned even colder, his expression froze in his agony and I could just hear his mutterings without being able to understand any, then he was dead.
My heart stopped, unable to think about anything else, me whole body aching and a cold feeling filled me whole, without knowing if I needed to scream or cry or just destroy it all... But I knew I had to snap out of it and in that moment I remembered what I promised my parents 5 years ago: Not use my powers, and even more if used them, not go back more than 5 minutes, unlucky for me, to undo this I had to go back at least the double.
In that moment I didn't have full control of my powers, unable to fully descipher them completely or to know limits; whenever I used to discover another part of them my whole body entered into a coma, or started bleeding with unbearable pain...
The only thing I knew how to master was to WANT reverse time and I didn't have time to loose, more time passed, the more seconds I had to go back and the more I would be in trouble, I didn't exactly knew the reason, sooner than later I would.
-I want to reverse- That was the only thing I needed to think about in order for my power to work.
And it did, here I was again, the moment before I gave Alexander his gift, this time, I didn't; I pushed him knowing I would regret this later, but not more than loosing everything I care most about in this universe: My brother...
-What did you say you moron?-It was Jonny starting to get angry at Teagan who had just provoked him.
I didn't have much time to waste so I stepped in and followed my instincts: I just hugged my brother, tighter that I've ever had, trying to transmit my love to him and letting him know that nothing else really mattered, I just wanted the both of us to go home.
-What!? I didn't know that your brother was your lover; I guess that freaks belong with other freaks-
-NATHANIEL, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, DONT LOOSE THE CONTROL!-Jonny said to me with his worried big red eyes while he tried grabbing my hand to make me enter in reason, but I perfectly knew what I was doing.
-Oh Jonny, you have no idea, the worst already happened, nothing can compare to this-In that moment I just let him fall, while hearing a far away screaming then a splash in the floor, it was Teagan's battered body, everyone started screaming and running, except for Jonny who just stood there beside me with an unbelieving look in his eyes asking me what I had just do.
Suddenly, the sound of sirens surrounded the house, the voice of a woman thorough a speaker
-Nathaniel, Jonathan North, get out from the house without any tricks, you are surrounded.
This was no ordinary police, I knew it was something else, I wanted, so I instantly knew it was the CIA looking for us, they already knew that much and probably more that I did at the moment.
-Nate, we need to run, now- Jonny said to me while grabbing my right hand, but I didn't move a single muscle, I just stood there I just didn't want to run or hide, I couldn't keep hiding who I was, if I was to be experimented on, killed or even thrown into jail I couldn't care, it was just too many years hiding, hiding us, and whatever the world could think of us they could shove it up their ass. I stood there with a weird sense of peace closed my eyes and waited...
- Nathaniel and Jonathan North, this is your last warning, step out from the house or we will open fire.
I didn't walk my way outside, I just made myself appear in front of them, without hiding, just showing them what I was. Some exclamations from the officers, some of them shivered, there's just stayed quiet, they feared me,except for the woman in the speaker, she just looked at me straight in the eyes and smiled, I smiled back.
Two agents cautiously approached me and put me what seemed a pair of weird blue and shiny handcuffs; the first moment I was wearing them, I felt a weird force restraining me, I felt without of energy and a sudden tiredness, these handcuffs were suppressing my powers.
Then they reached for my brother inside, and did the same.
They started walking us towards a black armored vehicle where the same woman was waiting for us.
In the midst of the people inside and outside the house staring at the show, some unbelieving, others shocked but most of them scared...what was supposed to be a quiet and diligent moment, backfired when Alexander came out from the house running, screaming my name; one of the agents, who previously had a nervous look on his face, got startled by the situation and just shot towards where the noise was coming from: Alexander.
Again, I witnessed the world crumbling at my feet, I felt my heart shater into pieces and this time without me being able to do a single thing to stop Alexander's hemorrhage coming from his chest. I felt a sudden dizziness overcome me whole; it embrassed me and I embrassed it back, I closed my eyes and the next thing I see is the most beautiful thing in the earth:
