The Omega Test

Delta's Cave (2/2)

Delta's Cave (2/2)

Jul 08, 2022

I gave up on trying to sound nice. This wolf basically kidnapped me. I heard a few sniffles and the scent of salt and sadness.
“I’m sorrry, I should-”
“No! It’s fine I’ll... I’ll keep you safe while you are here. All I ask is... um. Give me a chance?” Omega Love asked sounding worried and I can smell that he was nervous if that didn’t give him away the shaking of his hands on my shirt would be.
I know I won’t love him, not how he wants me to. If he holds onto that hope it would only hurt him. ‘Keep him happy, call him by his last name. He’ll think it’s a pet name, at least this way you can focus on training.’
It’s not like the word will mean anything to me anyways. I just have to pretend that I’m putting in effort. But playing with his feelings like this? Could I really do that? ‘He did something without your permission. Relationships needs to be built on trust and he ruined that when he Scented you.’
“Love,” I said trying out how I would feel about it and surprisingly it wasn’t as bad as I thought. It was just a word to me, “I’m not comfortable with saying the paired phrase, I’m sorry.”
“I don’t mind!” Love sounded so happy and hugged me, he seemed understanding on what I want. “We can go at your pace besides you're still too young to Claim me. Haha, uhm... If-if you still want me when you are.”
He sounded so nervous and his trembling hands clutching at my shirt only made me worried about the poor guy. It’s only once a week that I have to see him and once a month that I can see the Alpha Den. Wonder how long it will take for him to give up.
“I can visit you after class, we can talk until the bell rings,” my silence must spook him. I hope I don’t have to talk that much since I’m forbidden from talking about my training. But him coming up with a reason to visit me must mean that he’s serious about this. Whatever it is.
“What if I don’t,” I stopped myself from finishing that sentence. I’ve already been cold enough to him. “I can’t really find fault with the idea other than me not loving you in the end. It would be best for you to find someone else. I can manage on my own down here.”
“So we can try?” Love asked after a moment of silence with such a hopeful voice.
“A chance is what you asked for,” I said giving up on trying to get rid of him. He sighed and hugged me, I scented his arms to let him know that I meant what I said. My eyes had adjusted to the darkness and I pulled him towards the bed and sat him down.
Sitting beside him I felt small, “My name is Jay Love, I’m 18, Alpha-Born.”
“Angel Crowther, 10, Omega-Born. Found my wolf at 7, entered Alpha Training at 7 and now starting Delta Training.”
“I’ve spent my first 10 years as an Alpha then decided that I’m meant to be an Omega. I always felt that Alpha’s were far too rough and I wasn’t comfortable with fighting. I’m better suited as a calm and gentle Omega. Even though I changed my Rank I’m still called Alpha... you and your friends were the first ones to call me Omega. Aside from Delta Christopher but I think that was out of respect from you.
“When you first showed up in class I was mad that there was such a rough Alpha among the Omega Students. But watching you, you adjusted yourself so much so as not to scare the Omega-Born’s. Even though you were still rough you tried. Seeing you try made me think that not all Alpha’s were bad. I soon found myself unable to rest and felt uneasy when you weren’t around.”
I processed this in the moment of silence, it sounded like he was trying to turn me into his Soul Mate. If we were, we would have had the same feelings as each other. But I held no such feelings of him. I never thought of him.
We could just be compatible for now.
Most wolves remember their Soul Dream, a dream or image of the person they are Soul Mates with. I can’t remember mine because I don’t want to hope for someone that might never show up.
“Silver Moon?” Love asked.
“That’s quite a story, all I can tell you is that my goal is to show the Pack that Omega-Born’s aren’t weak. That we can be strong and that the Elite Omega’s can be real again, to protect the Pack from unseen dangers.” I said, Justice was proud of my words.
“You have already proven yourself when you fought with the Alpha’s against the Rouge’s. Weren’t you scared? At all?” Love asked. I didn’t like how he thinks that one acheivement was good enough.
“No, I was terrified. Leading that many wolves into a fight, their lives were my responsiblity. The Rouge’s were weak, because I asked for more Alpha’s to help and they made sure that my only focus was the Rouge Leader. The Pheromones he used was weak, I got used to smelling stronger scents.”
“I can see why they call you Alpha now but when did it start?”
“Don’t know, it just happened one day and I got used to hearing the title.
“What are Elite Omega’s?”
“Elite Omega’s were once strong warriors that protected the Pack with special powers given from their Wolf Spirit. They protected the Pack from Dark Magic to Diseases that spread. Elite Omega’s were also Guards to the Alpha of the Pack and protected them from assassination from Peace Meetings.”
“How-so how did you become the Alpha of the Alpha Den? I heard someone talking about it.” That was a strange shift from him, did talking about it make him uncomfortble? Or was it because of his hate fighting nature.
“I don’t know, it felt like it just happened. I was in Coach’s class and was put into many spars during those classes. I won almost all of those fights and even one against Alpha Oscar and his Beta Snoopy. Maybe even previous Alpha’s but I think it was because I always hunted for the Alpha Den first.”
“What is this fuzzy thing over here?” I can already tell that talking to him was going to be tiring.
“By the smell of it my Rabbit fur blanket. I’m glad that it was brought down, not sure what I would do without it.”
“You know how to sew?”
“I was taught the basics from my mom and from the Omega’s I’ve hunted with. How is that surprising? You saw my beaded bracelet.”
“Ah, right... I don’t know much about sewing but I am learning how to knit!”
“That’s admirable,” I say trying to sound... happy? I’m not even sure anymore. I still feel the teeth on my skin and the slowness of my muscles sinking in to my bone. Was this the reason why I was carried?
“I can make you a scarf and some gloves.. Ooh and a hat too! Maybe even another blanket!”
“I’m sure whatever you make, I’ll like. As long as it has color, I’m starting to get sick of shades.”
“Of course! I’ll make it as colorful as you want! I can even make you a sweater and some dinner mats! Oh I can even make a teddy bear for you!” He stopped talking with a sqeak and stayed quiet for a few moments. “Sorry.”
“That’s fine, when I go out hunting I could make you a coat... on second thought maybe some slippers.” Love laughed and I was brought in for a hug.
Alpha’s don’t purr.
Love is purring.
How he managed that is a mystery to me.
I decided to purr back despite how rough it sounded now. I stopped, feeling out of place purring. I couldn’t quite place it but it felt wrong to purr.

I woke up at the sound of a chime. The darkness was disorienting but after adjusting to it I started getting ready for... something. Love had quickly left last night and from the smell of it he left his scent on my door. I put my scent on it and headed down the hall, my right hand barely leaving the wall. I went to where I smelled the most wolves and to my surprise it was dimmly lit.
“Alpha Angel, I expect you to be here on time!” Delta Christopher growled his voice loud in the open space that was filled with training equipment on one side and matts covering the rest. Above it looked like an obstical course, doesn’t look safe at all. “Alright! Now! That you know how to get here. Go Wolf. We’ll start by endurance, no stopping until you die.”
I shifted and found that my new clothes didn’t rip. I was amazed until a wolf ran into me and I followed after.
We ran.
It felt like my lungs were on fire.
My sides ached.
Then it was gone.
I breathed easier and found new strength and pushed my slow jog and found that others were slowing down then some started catching up.
We repeated that once more and was told to rest.
I practically collapsed on the matts and so did others, some just laughed as they slowed their run to a leisure walk. Seeing this I shakily got to my paws and followed after, it took a few steps before I fell again but I wasn’t about to let it keep me down.
Taking a breath in I growled and stood before walking.
Everything ached.
I didn’t even know that the tips of my claws was so sensitive.
We were told to stop and something was strapped onto me that weighed more than I did. It took every ounce of strength I had left just to stand again.
“Resume running!”
What!
That psycho expects us to run with this on? I can barely stand with the heavy thing. I kept my walk until I felt comfortable enough to trot and soon I was running again.
“Dodge!”
I was knocked to the ground when the lights were completely off. The weights on me nearly crushed me when I landed. Coughing I tried to get up but I was half way up before I was knocked down again.
“On your toes, Alpha Angel!” I heard a wolf growl and tried to dodge out of the way but my legs buckled and I knocked myself down. I could hear laughing and the rest of the training was spent like that. Trying to dodge with something heavy and getting my tail handed to me.
A week had passed by as I crawled to my bed and shifted when I laid down. We barely get any food down here and when we do, it only goes to the best performing wolves. We don’t go long without food every third day it seems we get something to eat regardless of how we do.The training itself is left with little to no instructions.
I’ve always relied on seeing how my opponent moves, not seeing them left me paralized in a sense. The other wolves were also merciless when attacking, a few times some wolves come over and check us if they smell a hint of blood. I was told those were the Delta Medics in Training.
One scent was familiar from the Medics but I wasn’t sure if it was just my imagination or not. I felt exhausted and only focused on my training. It was better than using what little energy I had left trying to find who it was.
A knock at my door made me growl in frustration then huff from lack on energy.
Love walked in and his scent felt like a reward.
He smelled of roses and rabbits and potatoes.
Oooh the sweet smell of rabbit!
I sniffed again and the scent of rabbit was stronger. I realized that Love had brought me something to eat. Having not had a proper meal in days I practically inhaled it.
“If I’d known you would've eaten like that I would have brought more,” Love laughed and I felt a hand on my fur. Guess I shifted. I sighed as I laid beside him his scent nearly lulling me to sleep.
What really made me sleep was his soft voice as he talked about his day.
That last thing I hear from him is that it will be okay.
