Five—
"I'm so happy for you guys!" Mel clapped. Jackson had his arm around her shoulders as he silently congratulated Kai who had his arm around my shoulders.
Someone pinch me.
It's been a few days since the betrothal and Kai and I have been taking that time to get to know one another. Really know each other.
Have we been intimate with each other? Besides a few heavy make out sessions and cuddling, no, we haven't. It was steadily becoming harder to fight the urges because my estrous cycle was nearing. I have no idea how I'm going to survive that now that I'm betrothed. I'll have to ask Mel how she does it.
I was in a happy bubble until I saw her.
This has to be a joke.
She was running toward us with her hair in a ridiculous style that strongly resembled a pineapple. Her dress was an obscene yellow color and bubbled out mid-thigh. Her long legs were encased in tall brown boots.
A growl escaped my throat.
Mel and Jackson stopped laughing and looked at me confused. I felt Kai tense beside me.
"Kai! Jackson!" Robin called out happily when she reached our picnic table.
I glared at her.
She was about to curl her lip at me until she saw Kai's arm around my shoulders. That's right bitch, back off.
"Oh! I didn't know you two were...together," she said gesturing at Kai and myself. I didn't respond, just continued to glare.
"Yeah, we were betrothed recently," Kai answered her sweetly. He didn't even seem like he cared or noticed the way she was looking at him. Did he not see how desperate she was to implant herself in our society?
"How nice!"
I growled at her fake tone.
"Drew," Kai snapped looking down at me in warning and using his dominant voice.
I barked, pushing myself closer to his side, quietly seething.
"I'm sorry, did I offend you somehow?" the human's voice was sickly sweet. I wanted to vomit...all over her ugly dress.
Ignoring her, I stuck my face into Kai's neck, letting his scent calm me down. I didn't want to look at her.
"Mind if I join you all?" She asked.
My hand squeezed Kai's side.
He better not let her ruin our date.
"I'm not so sure that's a good idea..." Jackson trailed off but the bitch ignored him, plopping right down on the other side of Kai. Her arm brushing his.
"I really like your shirt," she commented, stroking the sleeve of Kai's button down.
That was the last straw.
I yanked Kai away from her and lunged. He caught my waist before I could tear her throat out.
"You don't touch him you disgusting vermin! He's mine! MINE!"
Kai jerked me into his lap and pushed my face into his neck.
"I'm sorry! I didn't know I was doing something wrong!" I heard her apologize in a terrified voice. "I should go!"
Melrose was also baring her fangs at the stupid human. Jackson had her in a tight grip to make sure she didn't follow the filthy girl.
I was shaking I was so mad! She really had the nerve to say she didn't know. Like come on! She pulled that same shit last time. She knew.
"Drew," Kai growled.
He was angry.
I don't think I've ever heard or seen him angry before in my life. He was always so sweet. But the tone he used just oozed contained fury.
I barked again angrily.
"Knock it off!"
"Kai, she was—" Mel started but Jackson cut her off.
"Melrose, don't interfere." He used his Alpha dominance to ensure her compliance. It successfully shut her up.
"She's human, Drew. She didn't know—"
I wrenched away from him and stared at him incredulously. "Are you fucking serious? She knew! She did the same thing last time!"
"Drew!" I shut up immediately, tilting my head back and offering my neck. Kai was releasing his own hormones and not the ones that made me sexually compliant. I had to submit to him as my Alpha. He made the decision and I had no right to disobey.
Kai bit into my neck, making me scream in pain and submit completely.
The energy drained from my body immediately and I went limp in his arms. Mel whimpered for me, but Jackson silenced her with a look.
"I have to take him home. Sorry for today. We'll do this again tomorrow," Kai said, carrying me in his arms.
"Sure, see you tomorrow," Jackson said. Melrose was quiet, her head bowed in submission to her own Alpha.
I leaned into the warmth radiating from Kai's shirt. He didn't say anything but I knew that he was still angry. Soon we reached his house and he brought me up into his room, laying me gently on the bed. He pulled my shoes off for me, while I watched him with hooded eyes. He took his own off and climbed on to the bed.
With the little strength I had left, I rolled on to my back and bared my neck to him, submitting again. I needed to submit to him. To make things better.
Kai gazed down at me before leaning into my neck and kissing the bite mark he put into my neck earlier. A whimper left my lips.
"I know you don't like humans, but you can't go attacking them whenever they break our rules. They aren't Wolves, they don't understand our customs. Please understand that. I don't ever want to have to make you submit to me like that again. Especially not in front of our friends or in public."
I offered my neck for the third time. Kai sighed and kissed my neck again before kissing my lips. He cradled me against him as his soft lips moved over mine. When he pulled back, I could feel the strength returning to my body.
"You can go home now. I know you're probably upset with me and don't really want to be around me. It's okay. I have a few things to attend to anyway," he said sadly.
I nodded my head, getting off the bed and putting my shoes back on. Kai watched me silently as I left without another word.
He was right.
I was pissed.
But seeing him so sad made me feel just a tiny bit guilty. I didn't want to make him sad but my odium for humans was never going to change. I hated them too much to look past any of their blunders.
Walking gave me some time to cool down though and instead of going home, I went straight to Mel's house. She was in her room, watching a movie. As soon as I came in, she turned her TV off and immediately gave me all of her attention, like the good friend she is.
"Are you okay? What happened?"
"I just had to submit a few more times and he let me go. He was pretty upset about having to make me submit though."
"I don't get why they don't see the tricks that humans pull!" she exclaimed angrily, falling back into her pillows. I fell on the bed beside her.
"Me neither, but its okay for now. I don't want to talk about it and get angry again. Plus, there was something I needed to ask you."
Mel rolled to her side to stare at me, "What's up?"
"When it's your time of the year...how do you...handle it?" I asked.
"Handle it?"
"You know what I mean," I snapped.
Mel laughed.
"We breed incompletely."
I raised a brow at her.
"What do you mean 'incompletely'?"
"We breed normally but he takes pills that kill his sperm so when he knots, I won't get pregnant. Therefore, it's 'incomplete.'"
"Where do you get the pills?"
"I have some if you want it. Jackson has a full jar of them in his room so I don't really need to keep any."
"Really?"
She nodded, climbing off her bed and grabbing a jar with hundreds of little yellow pills in it. She handed it to me. "All he needs to do is take one pill right before you breed and every time you go for another round, it works fast like suppressors but is incredibly efficient."
"Thank you."
"No problem." Her phone buzzed. She checked the notification and smiled. "Sorry, I have to go, that's Jackson."
"Thanks again," I told her, getting up and taking the jar with me.
"Have fun!"
I walked over to my house and put the jar on my desk. I took a few out and put them in tiny baggie that could fit in my wallet like my suppressors before sticking them in a bag to take to Kai's.
What will Kai say?
I'm not so sure if he is okay with the idea of breeding, incomplete or not. He wants it, I know he does, but is he willing to take something just so we can take that step? Were we even ready to take that step?
I picked up my phone and dialed his number.
Was he still busy?
I didn't want to interrupt something important or upset him any further than I already have. We've barely been together a week and things were already strained.
He picked up on the first ring.
"Drew, what's wrong?" he spoke urgently, worry clear in his voice. Why would anything be wrong? Couldn't I just call him? I was his betrothed after all.
"N-nothing, I just wanted to know if you were done with those things you had to take care of."
Kai sighed in relief.
"Yes, I'm done. Are you still upset with me?"
I shook my head then realized he couldn't see the action. "No, I'm not," I whispered into the receiver of the phone.
"Okay, good. I'm sorry for putting you through that though."
"It's okay. Can I sleep over tonight?"
"Of course. You are always welcome here, you know that."
"Okay, I'll be there shortly."
"Alright."
"Bye Kai."
"Don't say 'bye', say 'see you soon' or 'see you later.'"
"See you soon," I whispered.
"I look forward to it." I could hear the smile in his voice before he hung up.
I smiled to myself, before getting up, grabbing the bag, and going downstairs. I already had stuff at his house so I didn't need to take anything besides the bag with the pills. I passed my mother on my way out.
"Drew, sweetie. Where are you headed?"
"I'm going to spend the night at Kai's," I told her with a wave.
"Have fun!"
I hurried out the door and tried not to sprint to his house. When I got there, the door was wide open. A brown wolf trotted out the door. He glanced at me before taking off.
It was probably one of the Alphas. He was way bigger than an Omega.
I rushed inside, shutting the door behind me. Kai was downstairs in his kitchen making two sandwiches. One of them had the crust cut off so I knew it was for me. He knew I hated crust on anything.
"Kai," I breathed, stepping into his arms and pushing my face into his neck. Even though I was just with him a few hours ago, I couldn't help but miss him. It was our bonding growing stronger. The need to be with each other intensified.
Kai wrapped his arms around my waist before picking me up to sit on his counter while he finished the sandwiches. When he did, he handed me mine on a small plate.
"Thank you."
He nodded, biting into his own.
"So, um, my time is nearing. It will be here in about a month or so and I talked to Mel about what we should do and she suggested incomplete breeding—"
Kai choked on his sandwich. I patted his back until he composed himself once again. His green eyes were wide as he stared at me.
"Incomplete breeding?"
"Only if you're okay with it. I mean, I have the pills already. I just wanted to ask you if you thought it was okay. I wasn't sure how you felt about it."
"Where are they?"
I pointed to the bag I dropped on the floor. He picked it up and pulled out the jar of yellow pills. Examining them closely, he turned his attention back to me.
"Are you sure? What do you feel comfortable with?"
"I...wouldn't mind. But only when it's that time of the year."
"Okay, I can take them."
I smiled at him. He kissed my nose before placing the jar on the counter and finishing up his sandwich. I finished my own and we found our way upstairs in his room. He sat on the couch, pulling me onto his lap, and put on a movie.
"What were you doing earlier?" I asked as the opening credits began.
"Just taking care of some Alpha business. Speculating some suspicious occurrences."
"Suspicious occurrences?" I pushed.
"Nothing you need to worry about."
"But Kai—"
Kai gave me a look. One that I was started to become very accustomed with. I groaned in frustration causing him to chuckle.
"It's Alpha business, Drew. You don't have to worry about that stuff. I told you I'll take care of you and I meant it. Do you trust me?"
"Of course," I sighed, settling into his arms more comfortably. I didn't want to be that type of Omega who always meddled into their Alpha's affairs, but I hated being kept in the dark.
"Good, I'm going to take care of you, Drew."
"I know."
And I've never been happier.
