Loving Him

Part One - Chapter Ten (continued)

Part One - Chapter Ten (continued)

Jul 14, 2022

I dozed off after a while and woke to light kisses on my fingers. I cracked an eye open and saw the culprit lying on his side with my hand up to his lips. He smiled over at me.

"Did I wake you?"

I shook my head and yawned.

"Bath," I mumbled.

He chuckled then got up to start the bath. I followed him sluggishly, slipping my clothes off and tossing them in the laundry bin. I stumbled into the bathroom and watched as he bent over the tub, shirtless, testing the water temperature. His muscles bunched and coiled with his movement. There was something about back muscles that just made me weak.

When the tub filled up, he dropped his pants and boxers before turning to me and offering his hand. I grasped it willingly and let him lower me into the tub before climbing in behind me. He pulled me back against his chest and hummed as we sank into the steamy water. I was still a bit sore from our lovemaking a few days prior so the heat of the water helped a lot.

Kai interlaced our fingers and started kissing along my neck. I grinned, closing my eyes and relishing the feel of his soft and full lips on my skin.

"I was terrified," he said suddenly.

I raised a brow in curiosity, peeking up at him and waiting for him to elaborate.

"I was afraid that you were gone for good and that I lost my one chance at happiness," he continued.

"You would've have found someone else," I murmured.

"You're irreplaceable Drew. I don't want anyone else. If I couldn't mate you I wouldn't have mated anyone. I'd rather live my life in misery than drag someone into a relationship when my heart belonged to you. I meant it when I said I love you. You are my one and only."

Hearing him talk like this had my heart racing.

"I love you too," I whispered.

"I know," he chuckled.

We fell into silence again, just enjoying each other's company. I relaxed into his embrace and even felt my eyes threatening to close.

"Come on, let's get out before we turn to prunes."

Kai was quick and thorough as he washed me then himself. He carried my tired body out of the tub and toweled dry. I stood shakily and padded over to the closet to grab one of his t-shirts. It's become a habit of mine even without the heat.

Kai grabbed a pair of his own sweatpants, slipped them on then curled into the bed, turning on the TV. I crawled on top of him, settling between his legs under the blanket.

"I'm going to take you to meet a few people tomorrow. You'll be seeing them a lot soon and I want you to be familiar with the faces," Kai said suddenly after finding a show to watch. He settled on one about some super-fast guy and science labs.

"Okay."

I wondered who he was talking about and hoped he was finally letting me in on what's been stressing him out as of late. I noticed the tenseness in his muscles and the exhausted look in his eye. Whatever Alpha business he's always dealing with has his beyond stressed out and it was worrying me.

It's time I started doing my part. It's my job to comfort my Alpha, to support him and make his life as easy as possible. No tantrums and no more screw ups. This is serious now.

"What's with that look?" Kai chuckled.

"What look?"

"You looked super determined all of a sudden."

I blushed.

"Nothing, just setting goals for myself."

"Like what?"

I gritted my teeth. Trust him to ask a bunch of questions when I'm embarrassed. It's like he wanted me to admit my humiliation.

"Just...goals."

"That's not really an answer," he laughed.

I rolled my eyes, "It is to me."

Kai laughed again but let it drop thankfully. I really didn't want to admit that I was thinking of ways to become a better mate. It may not seem all that embarrassing, but when you're determined not to fuck up, that means you fuck up a lot, and that's embarrassing.

I snuggled into my mate.

"Push any closer and you'll become an appendage," Kai teased but held me tighter against him. I pouted but otherwise ignored his comment.

It was a peaceful night with my mate and I'm sure many of these were to come in the future.

Super-fast guy and science labs? Is that on the same channel as the demon-fighting brothers and trenchcoat man?

(BOOK 1)

Drew Lyall knew his life would be full of obstacles. It was the fate he shared with all of the Omegas. Even though he knew the unlikelihood of his one true wish being granted, he couldn't help but hope. He wanted to be mated, but not just to anyone, to the love of his life: Kai Hemming. Kai was the most promising of the Alphas and only an Omega of high ranking could ever be his perfect match. There was nothing special about Drew and he was painfully aware. His love...unrequited.

There was a fire in Drew Lyall that reeled Kai in like a moth to a flame. He couldn't get him out of his head. He was getting older and time was pressuring him into choosing a mate fast, but the one he wanted...hated his guts. Kai was desperate for Drew's acceptance but a few wrong moves had the promising Alpha neck deep in trouble.

The Humans and Wolves had been coexisting peacefully for years, sharing the Earth equally. Now, something was wrong. The Humans began oppressing the Wolves, becoming greedier with land and resources. They forced their way into the Wolf Societies, planting their seeds within the Communities. The Wolves were growing antsy, not taking the violation lightly. And the World was edging to the one thing that could destroy everything: War.
