“So I’ll ask you again, how was work?”
“Work was good, I got to talk to Julie slash Cora slash Charles.”
“And who are all those three?” The three of them rode back in the girl’s car, her eyes glued to the window and the things that were passing by.
“She’s a patient at the hospital, practically my younger sister since she got admitted when she was twenty for having DID.”
“What’s that?”
“Dissociative Identity Disorder. I won’t go into her past but, it’s pretty bad that she had to create new identities to guard herself from it.”
“Oh.” Tobias turns after the light turns green, going off of the ramp to go onto the highway. “I don’t need to hear anymore than that. but… how did you two meet?”
“She was my roommate with Marce and I, we knew she acted rather off so I took her in to someplace I trusted which was that hospital, they took her in, evaluated her and found out she was diagnosed with DID. She was a menace at the time, having no control over them and they were angry, all three of them so they held her there and have ever since, I was one of the only ones who had gotten to know all three and became friends with all three, trying to help to the best of my ability when I was there.”
The boy hums, taking her hand from her lap and intertwining his fingers into hers. “Tell me more.”
“Julie’s the main one and the host of her physical self. Julie is well, Julie, a very sweet girl, loveable when you get to know her but she’s also deathly shy, she doesn’t like new people for the life of her. Cora is like an inner child, sweet as sugar and will tell you to make up a story so both of you could role-play and have fun, she also really likes reading so I read her some of my manuscripts sometimes, taking out the curse words of course. Charles is very serious but has a small fun side to him, I’ve only experienced that once or twice but we usually talk about the other two, having serious conversations about what’s been happening with her and such. He gives me daily reports when I visit.” The girl inhales before looking at the bright arches of the McDonald’s sign that they just passed by. “I also got to talk to Kyle.”
“Whose Kyle?” There was a bit of jealousy engraved in his voice but that didn’t waver the girl at all.
“Kyle is a friend and classmate of mine, I’ve known him since freshman year and he’s been with me through my spiral and diagnosis of… well whatever anxiety disorder I have, I kinda forgot what it is.”
“Perhaps Panic disorder?”
“I don’t think so, I don’t remember.”
“Then I won’t push it further than that.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” The girl looks out the front window, seeing the sun start to set as the sky turns from blue to purple, pink, orange, red, and yellow. “So you had a fun day then.”
“Yeah, I also saw Mary and Mary’s doing well and I’m so happy for her.”
“Mary?”
“Oh right, I still have to talk about Mary and Kira. Mary and Kira are staff at the hospital and were in my classes last year. They graduated that year so I asked them for tips for my classes this year since I only have this year until I get my PhD.”
“Neat, sorry if I sound sorta uninterested, I’m just focusing on the road.”
“It’s alright, I never usually get to talk about my day anymore.”
“Oh, well if I’m going to be taking you to work then I’ll ask you about it, that is, if you’re okay with it.” The girl grins, turning her head to look into the mirror to see Juneau sprawled out across the back seats, most likely exhausted from the day.
“I’m okay with it. Also Junie and I might not go on a walk tonight, he seems really tuckered out from today, he was getting used to the new kiddos that were transferred over from the children’s hospital. Plus,” the girl yawns, covering her mouth with her free hand that was holding her phone. “I’m tired and ready to end the day.”
“At seven in the evening?”
“Yep, today was both amazing and exhausting, don’t you have to stream tonight?”
“I do but I might not if it means we can watch movies until you fall asleep, only then I’ll go stream.” Lianna grips the boy’s hand a bit more, a small smile stretching across her face as her face burns a soft pink.
“Okay then.” When the two parked in the driveway, she lightly moved the dog’s head, telling him physically that it was time to wake up. Juneau moves and stretches his limbs, looking up at the girl who grinned at the animal. “Come on Junie, you can sleep inside.” Tobias was next to her, holding her bag again like he was this morning, waiting for both the girl and her dog to get inside so he could have her all to himself.
The animal gets up and jumps out of the car, booking it towards the door and sitting in front of it, waiting for the two humans to let him into the house. The boy chuckles, shutting the door before helping the girl up the steps to their apartment.
“I don’t need help, thank you.”
“Okay then, if you fall it’s your own fault.”
“I ate, hydrated, and took my meds, what more do you want from me?”
“Your attention.” She rolls her eyes as she unlocked the door with her key.
“Of course you do, that’s probably what you wanted for the past eight years hasn’t it.”
“It has.” The two go into the house, greeting both Marce and Colton as they had made dinner without the pair.
“There’s leftovers in the microwave if either of you want them.” Marce states before shoving a spoonful of the soup into her mouth.
“No thanks, I ate at the hospital.”
“Is the trio okay?” Lianna nods, beaming towards the girl.
“They are but I’ll tell you the details later. Did you make some miso soup?”
“Yep, that’s why I was kinda in disbelief when you wanted to turn down something like this.” The girl giggles, getting a bowl from the microwave to find it still hot. She turns to the boy with her face still lit up.
“Have some, Marce makes a killer miso soup.”
“Hey! I helped as well.” Colton glares before chuckling himself, taking the bowl and drinking the last of the contents out of it. The music major grins, taking the second bowl that the girl had in her hands and standing at the island with the others, taking small sips of it here and there.

Hours pass and it seemed that time was winding down, Tobias and Lianna sit in the girl’s room on the couch looking at the TV as the girl explains every little part of her Animal Crossing Island, telling him why she came up with it and where she was at when she created it, all of it bringing happiness to her overall mood.
“And this one is when I went to Canada last, that was over a month ago. You remember it.”
“Yeah, but why did you put penguins there?” He pointed at the little penguins that were in this icy wonderland that the girl had created.
“Because they’re my favorite animal, I had to put them there.”
“Mm, alright, so can we watch a movie or something.”
“Only if we can go to your room, I like your bed, it’s comfortable.” She moves to sit up instead of leaning against him, saving her progress and turning the switch off along with the TV itself. After, she stands up and grabs her pillow that she saw that he put back for her along with her blanket all folded up and put nicely at the foot of her bed. “Come help me, I want to take at least two other things.”
“And what are these two other things you speak of?”
“Two blankets, your room is also very cold.”
“Then have a sweatshirt.”
“They encase me in heat, I don’t like them, don’t you remember?”
“Yet you said that you wanted mine.”
“Yours probably still don’t fit so why would I?” The boy hums, getting off the couch to go help the girl, Juneau looking over at the two from his bed, knowing that the two of them will be going away from the room they were currently in.
“You have everything?” The girl looks around, mumbling to herself before giving the boy a thumbs up.
“Yep, come on Juno, we’re going to the next room over.” The dog follows them, going over to the boy’s room where it was already so dark with the black out curtains.
Tobias puts the blankets on his bed, walking over to his bedside table and turning on the TV with the remote. Lianna on the other hand, sat on his bed, unfolding the blankets and making herself at home. When everyone was set and the movie was picked out the two lovebirds just laid together cuddled under four separate blankets, the girl fell asleep around halfway through the movie which was around nine at night. The boy looks down at the girl who was now sleeping on his chest, smiling and looking back up at the bright screen.
