Trees, buildings, and other places flash by in the blink of an eye when moving down the highway towards the giant building that is the college. The two space out while focusing on different things, the boy, the road, the girl, the scenery that was outside the car window. She was still really happy that she got to see her friend and teacher Professor Beacon who, over the years has let certain students just call her Niomi, Lianna being one of them.
“So what are you and your professor going to talk about?”
“The lesson plan for this semester and just catching up over the summer, she told me she wished she could’ve gone to Toronto with me last month but she had work over at the children’s hospital and just her personal life. Her cousin was also getting married in that month and when I was going with Jacky so she couldn’t have come regardless.” The boy croons, looking over at the girl for a brief second before looking back at the road.
“Sounds like fun.”
“Yeah but it’s also going to be very tiring at the same time, but it’s going to be worth it to see Julie, Cora, and Charles.”
“You really like that girl don’t you.”
“Yeah, she’s amazing. Very sweet kiddo. I love them all equally but Cora is very kid-like, I’m pretty sure she’s fourteen now. When I first met her she was ten.”
“They seem like good people, maybe I’ll get to meet them sometime.”
“Yeah, I mean now… I don’t think you would want to, only because she’s in a bit of a disarray moment.” He hums, turning into the university parking lot. “Go to door A2, that’s where I can get in with my key.”
“You have a key?”
“Everyone does, you’ll get one if you go to the main office, I can take you there.”
“Don’t you have a meeting?”
“It’s currently 7:42, I think we have time.” The boy parks the car, turning the engine off before opening the car door.
“Then let’s go, I don’t want you to be late for your meeting.”
“Alright.” All three Lianna, Juneau, and Tobias get their things before getting out of the car. The girl gets her dog and puts his leash on her belt loop. “Don’t stray too far from me Junie, we’re on business, not fun.”
“He listens to you very well.”
“He does, he’s a good listener to directions ever since I trained him.” She brings out her key from her other belt loop and extends it to the door, having it read it before unlocking and beeping for them to be allowed in. “So A2 is where I normally come in for my classes and I’m pretty sure the band hallway is somewhere around here…” The psych major leads them down a majority of hallways until they end up at the main office where the boy is to get the last of his schooling things. “I’ll be waiting outside.”
“Alright, see you.” The boy whispers the last part in her direction.
“See ya.” She responds also with a whisper.
When the boy returns from the office with his ID and keycard he checks the time on his phone. “It’s only 7:50”
“Okay, then I’ll probably start heading towards the psychology office, I’ll see you around twelve aright? Maybe explore the campus a little bit.” Her and Juneau start to walk away from the boy before she stops for a minute, tugging on the leash for the animal to acknowledge her stopping and to wait there. “Oh, and Tobias?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you.” The boy smiles, gripping his phone a little more so it wouldn’t fall out of his hands.
“I love you too.” To be honest, he hadn’t heard Lianna say I love you first, it was at least a few years and to hear her say it verbally made it all worth that while. The last time that he had heard those words was the last call that they had before breaking up in May. He knew how much those words affected him and her in the long run, how her eyes lit up every time he would say it to her and how happy he got when she returned her love for him, even if it was hard for her to show affection in a slight romantic way.
He watches as the girl walks off with the dog, his leash still attached to her right front belt loop. That smile that he had disappeared as he looks back at where he was, turning and walking in the opposite direction, trying to find the signs to lead him to the band room.

Lianna on the contrary was almost to the psych building around 7:55, she had at least five minutes before she would probably get a text message from Niomi asking where she was. Walking a little further and hearing her footsteps and the leash jangling in the empty hallway made her feel at home when she would randomly walk around in her Junior and Senior years of High school when her teachers would let her roam the halls sometimes, allowing her to clear her mind.
As she approaches the door to the one classroom that she’ll spend the majority of her time in, she stops in front of the door, looking at the handle before putting her hand on it, twisting and opening the door to be greeted by Niomi.
