"You knooooow,-" Max started as soon as they entered the classroom. "-I just bought some alcohol and snacks purely by quincidence, you know how it goes, for like a future party at your place??" Alex looked at her with an amused but still confused face. ".....huh?"
She slyly smiled at him and continued. "So like......can we have a party at your house????"
Alex burst out laughing. "Dude, that was the weirdest way you could ask that......oh my god. But...sure, we can."
She laughed along with him. "'Cause you know how GODLY that could be??"
"Yeah yeah, so on Friday or Saturday?" Max clearly perked up at his answer, and enthusiastically said "Saturdayy, we have to generate some energy, and I think we'll be completely dead on Friday 'cause of the exams."
"......oh yeah......" He remembered the big half-term exam from......math. "....we'll die." Max nodded and sighed.
Friday was a day of mourning their future final grades, then Saturday came up. Alex was preparing the campfire, such as gathering some wood and proper chairs for the two of them around it. He imagined sitting on the hard wooden logs that were there wouldn't be the best.
He was happily setting it all up, humming a random song to himself along the way.
He looked up and saw Max's figure in the distance. He couldn't help but smile. But, as she was getting closer and closer, Max seemed....kinda sad? Hmm...did something happen?
Some other figures appeared from behind, and the smile Alex had on his face slowly faded. It's the guys....and.....all of the girls......
It was Max's group of friends. Walking with her. Walking towards him. ...fuck
"Um, hi." Max looked at him guiltily when all of them arrived close enough.
"We saw Max heading here, so we joined her,-" One girl said. "-hope you don't mind~" She smiled at him, her eyes for sure weren't doing the same thing.
"Well…okay….." Alex sent Max another gaze, but she was looking at the ground instead.
The next few hours flew by like a blur. The people surrounded the campfire and, with the help of Max's alcohol, they all began drinking. Even Alex took a hold of some pink colored drink and sipped it over the course of the few hours. It was gross.
But, what Alex didn't expect was Max getting progressively more and more drunk. Her reddened cheeks, or her babbling nonsense definitely convinced him of that.
"Uh…..I gotta…..get some fresh air…." Alex had enough of the gross alcohol smell with the addition of cigarette smoke, because of course, they had to start smoking.
It felt like Alex was saying this just to the open air, but it didn't matter. No one was paying much attention to him anyways. He stood up, and one girl flashed him a look, but continued her business right after.
Haaahhhhhhhh…….. I'm so tired….
Alex just wanted this to get over with. For those people to just leave, for Max to just…be there for him. To not just send him a pleasing look, and ignore him after.
Alex knows she feels bad but……maybe show it a little bit?? Or…she could've just said 'no' to them. From the start.
Alex rubbed his face with a sigh. I guess no one's perfect…I'm not either...
Alex was enjoying the clean non-smoke invested air for a few minutes, looking at the stars. He heard their drunk blabbering and laughing though, and it made him sigh in annoyance. He turned around to come back. I'll tell them to go away…they've been here long enough.
Alex began seeing the yellow shine of the fire. Okay, let's-
"Heeeeyyyy, do u whant to know something about Alex~ hehe??" Alex heard Max saying. …What's she talking about?? "Since we're all gonna- *hiccup* gonna be BEST FRIENDS-" She shouted.
"Alex like GUYS!! He's GAY." She loudly whispered and started laughing. "BUT I LOVE HIM FOR WHO HE IIIS!"
Alex froze. …..huh….? He stopped walking. Fear slowly filled his entire body and his heart started pounding uncontrollably. W……what did she say….?
It didn't feel real. Max wouldn't say it…..right? It was a secret. Their secret.
He peeked from behind the tree that was covering his view from all of them. And, there they were. Looking back at him. Some with blank expressions, some straight up disgusted and the rest with sinister smiles playing on their faces. Alex knew he didn't just hear wrong. They knew. They all knew.
All of a sudden, the guy laughed. "So I was right,-" Alex haven't yet seen such a sinister look, it sent a shiver down his spine. "You're a fucking sissy!"
Alex's heart as if stopped. He didn't know what to do. His brain stopped working.
Max drunkily went up to him with a wide smile. "Heeeeyy *hiccup" where'd you gooo." She wrapped her arm around his shoulder and whispered into his ear. "Don't worry, my fwends are super supp-*hiccup* supportive."
A wave of rage flashed over Alex. How fucking dare she-
He tossed her arm away, and headed inside the house. Everything's fucked. He helplessly tugged on his hair.
Don't cry, don't fucking cry…. Alex's eyes were getting watery. He didn't dare turn around.
"H-heyy where are you going??~" Max drunkenly asked him with a confused tone.
He heard laughter behind him. I want to die....
