The man and woman saw the bright light disappear.
There was no sign of the golden egg. It was as though it never existed.
Dalnim, "Yuhwa is gone!"
Mireuk, "Yes, Dalnim. Our daughter has taken root in this human."
Dalnim, "It is as we wanted."
Mireuk, "This is a divine blessing. I feared Yuhwa would be pushed away."
Dalnim, "Our fears have been put to rest. The human will birth our daughter and give her the protection we couldn't offer."
Mireuk, "It is early to predict that this human has fully accepted Yuhwa.
Dalnim, "I can only wish that to be true. She is all the hope we have left for Yuhwa to make it to us."
Mireuk, "The prophecy couldn't have come at a more ill-timed hour."
Dalnim, "Lord Seokga may soon catch wind of our plan. The price of an all out war is too big to pay. At the very least, bloodshed is averted."
Mireuk, "I can take Seokga at any given chance; he doesn't fight fair and the risk of damaging my reputation as the most revered god is what I will not allow."
There was great pride in the man's voice as he spoke of his convictions.
The woman's eyes held deep longing for the precious treasure that she had to give up.
Dalnim, "I don't know how to go on with life when our Yuhwa is stuck in the body of a human."
Mireuk, "For the sake of the future; Yuhwa has to be born from a human. Seokga is bound to abide by the pact that binds us with shamans!"
The man's voice raised an octave higher when he heard the despair in the tone of the woman. This made his resolve almost falter.
Dalnim, "Mireuk….we didn't say our farewell to Yuhwa and now she's…gone"
The woman's voice cracked with raw emotion. Being the goddess that she was; Dalnim was not immune to the fleeting emotions of humans. The man's face hardened as though to deny being affected by the sudden parting.
Mireuk, "No matter where we are; Yuhwa has the means to converse with us. We share a bond and as long as our bloodline remains. Nothing will separate us."
The tone of the man dripped with ice, but there was a layer of warmth in them. He drew close to the woman and held her hand in his. Together they placed their hand on the abdomen of the shaman and closed their eyes.
Dalnim, "Mireuk! I see the human holding our Yuhwa!"
Mireuk, "I also see that too."
The woman's tears flowed freely as she saw a rare sight through the mind travel spell used by divine beings.
The magic of the moment opened the dam of unshed tears.
Mireuk, "It's time for us to bring our farewell to a close. Time is running out and we cannot afford to stay among humans for too long."
Dalnim, "Yuhwa looks happy. That is more than enough for me."
The woman wiped her tears with the sleeves of her garment.
In a blink of an eye the shared mind travel was broken.
They both took a step or two away from the sleeping shaman and faded into the distant night. To a place far away from the eyes of humans.
