Si-u turned around when he heard the blood curdling scream.
His eyes widened causing a fear like no other to set his heart pounding.
It never crossed his mind that there could be an hidden assassin in the woods.
His thoughts were on getting the other horse rider out of harm's way.
The shortsightedness of his escape plan was about to cost him the life of a dear confidant.
"Not, Lord Yoon! No! I must get to him!"
Deep down, Si-u knew the futility of the meaning behind his words, but nevertheless he wanted to overcome the tragic fate that was about to occur.
Suddenly the bone-weary Si-u pushed back fiercely the sword wielding men.
As he sprung to his feet in haste; an unknown development materialized.
Si-u saw a radiant yellow light burst out of nowhere. His body felt frozen to the spot and he could not move a muscle.
The arrow that was dangerously close to the man on the horse crumbled to dust.
When Si-u saw the disappearance of the arrow; he shook his head to clear his mind.
"I must be seeing things. That arrow did not just vanish into thin air."
Si-u snorted in disbelief at the thought of witnessing the unbelievable sight.
He saw that the muscle in his body had regained strength after the arrow was gone.
Just as Si-u was about to run purposefully towards the rider, something made him pause to look around.
The men that he was fighting with were no longer in sight.
It was as though they were never there in the beginning.
"The arrow is no more and now, the masked fighters have evaporated in the daytime? Who will believe me if I say this?!"
Si-u was baffled at the mysterious nature of the disappearances.
He became perturbed by the unexplainable happenings. The troubling circumstances almost caused him to forget to take his horse with him.
Si-u mounted the horse and rode in a cloud of dust to meet the man that had miraculously averted a misfortune.
The Yoon family nobleman heard the sound of a thundering horse.
"Is it Si-u? Si-u is that you?"
He stopped his horse and turned to see who the rider of the horse was.
The nobleman grinned when he saw the familiar silhouette and waved at the rider.
Atop his horse; the nobleman was a picture of dignity. His knotted hat remained neatly on his head. Not a single piece of his garment was out of order.
The horse and the rider eventually pulled up to the side of the Yoon nobleman.
Si-u jumped off from the horse and knelt on the ground before the rider.
When the nobleman saw the display of penitence; his grin disappeared. The expression on his face was replaced by one of hurt.
Lord Yoon, "What is the meaning of this?! Have you wronged me?"
Si-u, "I should have insisted on taking more people with us. Lord Yoon's life was in danger and like a coward I let Lord Yoon leave alone. This is my sin; I no longer feel worthy to serve Lord Yoon. Please punish this sinner."
Si-u hung his head low as he spoke to the noble. The social class that separates nobles from peasants was not one he could carelessly toy with. On the outside Si-u looked like a noble but he knew he was different.
