The Elven Curse

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Jul 13, 2022

Everyone was silent for a moment.

"He is very beautiful as you said Haleth", the king said.

His eyes leaving my body as he turned his head towards my mother. She nodded.

The prince's eye never left Aerin , looking at him intently with a smirk.

The king gestured in front of him where two individual sofas were situated. He called for the woman at the door, the one that had opened the door.

"Would you like something to drink?", the king asked looking at both of them.

Aerin looked at his mom. She didn't answer.

"Yes please.", he said trying to suppress the trembling in his voice.

"Very well". The king said and dismissed the woman.

Aerin looked around the room while squirming in his seat and swinging his legs. Behind the king and prince, was a giant window covering almost all of the wall. At his left was a piano with a couple of sheets on the small stool.
The room's walls were also covered with numerous paintings, most of them with landscapes and nature.

There were even some portraits of important people in elven history, that'd belonged to a time were elves protected nature with skills that they no longer had after the curse.

The prince cleared his throat, waking Aerin from his thoughts.

Just as the prince was going to talk, the same woman reentered the room holding a tray with cups and a tea pot.

She placed it on the table while everyone stared at her before bowing and leaving silently.

"Let's continue", the king said taking a sip from his tea.

"We can start with the preparations so that everything is perfect in three months", he said.

"But I thought your majesty wanted everything to happen this month", Aerin's mother said with confusion evident on her face.

"I did say that", the king said,"but I feel that they would like a more laborious and big one, after all its their special day".

The king turned to smile at his son and he returned it. Aerin just looked at everyone confused, it seemed like he was the only one in the room who didn't know what was happening.

The prince suddenly spoke looking at Aerin, "Dear Aerin, what color do you prefer?".

Aerin just looked at him puzzled and frowned his eyebrows.

"I don't know what-"

"Just say a color", the prince interrupted him.

"Um... blue?", Aerin said the first color that he thought of.

"Then blue it is", the king said.

The prince looked at him up and down, sending shivers through Aerin's body, he locked his hands together, nails digging into his skin .

" I believe it will suit you well, do like diamonds? Or do you like any other type of gem?"

"I don't know", Aerin said.

The king suddenly stood up.

"There will be time to decide everything Garrett, don't rush things".

Prince Garret lowered his head apologetically. The king shook hands with Aerin's mother.

"We'll see you in a week", his mother nodded.

"It was nice meeting you Aerin, we hope to see you soon".

They left right away, Aerin ignoring the obvious stare the prince was giving him. It made him anxious, once the door closed behind him, he finally felt he could breathe again.

"What was all that about", he asked.

His mother sighed.

"We are planning a wedding".

"Whose?" , he asked her, they were now in front of his door.

"Yours", she said with a sad smile.

What's really sad is that even though his mother knew, she didn't tell the mc about his wedding. Like what happens if mc didn't like him or the guy is a complete jerk. Like, come on! Atleast fill the boy in on what's going on.
