She was so vulnerable in my arms, her strength fading away in one moment. How could someone have such a strong exterior, but a glass heart. My father opened the door, her gentle snores telling me that she fell asleep in my arms. His arms were folded across his chest, a grimace on his usually jovial face. Passing me a tissue, he leaned against the door frame.
“You will need to protect her on your own while I catch up on some work in Hell, okay.” He warned seriously, ruffling the top of my head. “She is your wife after all. Demons and hunters will be coming at you left and right. She needs to learn how to control her powers, or she will be killed sooner than later. Next time try to use protection. I have to head now, so keep the place clean.” Snapping his fingers, he was gone in a black puff of smoke. A deep scarlet blush burned on my cheeks, her fingers gripping my t-shirt. Scooting back to the wall, her pink lips darkened to a pair of black lips.
The alarm finally went off, she was nowhere to be found. Humming echoed in the house downstairs, her white hair had grown longer overnight. Her red silk blouse hugged her breasts, the top buttons clearly refusing to button shut. A black leather mini skirt barely covered her round perfect ass, frankenstein style boots covering her feet. A sweet smile curled on her black lips, a plate of scrambled eggs in her palm. Any trace of her agony hiding away deep inside of her, a sad tint dimming her eyes.
“Thank you for yesterday.” She stammered anxiously, her body trembling. “No one has ever been this kind to me, even my friends. They always held me at distance, never telling me that they loved me at all. They were all probably just watching for the damn Hunter’s Society.” Tears welled up in her eyes, a black vine creeping up her arm. Pulling her onto my lap, she melted into my shoulders. Scooping up a spoonful of eggs, she looked surprised as I fed them to her. Swallowing them, she smiled weakly. Eating some myself, the creamy eggs melted on my tongue. Damn she could cook. Scarfing the rest of them down, she wrapped her arms around my neck. Her arms were wrinkling my black suit, but I didn’t care. A rare genuine smile flashed on her face, her fangs looking cute. The car honked outside, my mind secretly wishing that we never had to go back to school again.
“I love you, my lily.” I announced proudly, spinning her around. “Shall we dominate the school?” Hesitation flashed on her face, the driver appearing in the door. His finger tapped his watch, my eyes rolling. Dragging her to the towncar, she snuggled in my arms the whole way. My heart was about to beat out of my chest, the tires squealing to a stop. She hopped out, offering me her hand.
“Are you coming, Devil?” She asked sweetly, picking up her coffin backpack. “We have an audience to entertain.” Her hair swayed in the wind, terror widening my eyes. Lily and Dan brushed past her, a black vine curling up her arms. The three of them locked eyes, hatred raging between them.
“How dare you come back, scum?” Lily barked bitterly, tossing their bracelets to the ground. “You are lucky they deemed the school a no fight zone.” Her fists clenched tightly, blood pouring onto the ground. A snarl curled on her lips, other students gathering around.
“Who the hell gave you the idiots the right to choose who lives or dies!” She snapped, her voice cracking. “No one did, just think what we could do with a world with no fighting with each other. We could just take the monsters down together, but no you guys had to pretend to be my friends!” Dan charged at her, his fingers wrapping around her neck. His face softened at the sight of the tears flowing down her cheeks. Tossing her to the ground, he turned her back to her.
“Even if that happened, would you ever love me then?” He blurted out, tears flooding from his eyes. “The day you rejected me was the day you lost my sympathy.” She stood to her feet, the crack of her hand slapping his face shocking the other students.
“How could I ever love a monster like you?” She exploded, her arms falling to her side. “You always have been like a brother to me. Just get over it already.” Lily slammed into her body, a devil’s blade sticking out of her side. Stepping in, they backed off.
“This ground was declared a no battle zone, correct? Correct!” I barked hotly, standing between the three of them. “You have broken her heart, and you don’t even care. She is my w-, no girlfriend and I refuse to stand by. Dude, get over the fact that she never had feelings for you.” Dan puffed out his chest, Lily dragging him inside. Ary sat on the sidewalk, rubbing the back of her neck. Black vines were cracking the concrete beneath her, tears streaming down her cheek. Burying her face in her palms, she ignored the knife quivering in her side. Sitting down next to her, she ripped the blade out. Her wound sealed shut, the vines retreating.
“I am so sorry for speaking up.” She wept, sobs wracking her body. “And now I ruined my new shirt.” Shaking my head, I passed her my suit jacket. She looked so small, rage boiling in my veins. Helping her up, she shrugged on my jacket. The bell rang, a death glare from me causing everyone to scurry into the school. She smoothed out her skirt, a tortured smile dimming her face. The first half of the day she was quiet, the kind of quiet that scares someone. Students whispered around her, her intense focus on the lesson clearly being the only thing holding her together. Hurt flashed in her eyes as students always ran away from her, the next class was chorus. The white board read solo tests, her name was the first on the list. She sat at the piano and began to play ‘Breathe me’ by Sia. Her beautiful voice was shaking with tears, the room dead silent in awe of her talent. My heart ached, her pain radiating through her words. The whole class clapped as she stood up, the chorus teacher giving her a thumbs up. She sat in the back next to me, her hands crossed. Refusing to look at me, the period dragged on. The teacher pulled her aside, her eyes unable to meet his.
“You should enter the talent show this weekend.” He begged her pathetically shoving the sign up sheet in her face. “It is this Friday, and only a couple hours. The world deserves to hear your angelic voice.” Her face grew dark, her black fingernails twiddling around. Cocking her head, the teacher looked shocked at her next statement.
“Sure.” She replied pleasantly, flashing her polite smile. “But only if Dean can sing with me. I need the distraction.” My eyebrows twitched at her statement, a blush rising on my cheeks. The pen signed both of our names, the teacher practically skipping away.
“Why the hell did you do that?” I asked grumpily, sly grin dancing across her face. “What I couldn’t sing?” She shrugged, her hand brushing against my dick. It stiffened in my pants, a wink flashing in my direction. Showing me the list, Lily and Dan’s names were on them. Her name was crossed out, my understanding coming to my mind.
“I want to have fun, and singing is fun to me.” She explained happily, her mood lifting. “My whole life the right song has brought me out of my funk time and time again. As you can guess the woman pretending to be my mother was cold and emotionally abusive. Nothing took me out of my misery as well as putting my headphones on. I don’t think you would under-” Pulling her into my arms, my lips kissed her sweetly.
“I know how you feel with the music part anyways.” I admitted sheepishly, this whole emotional thing being kind of new to me. “As you can tell already, my old man isn’t around much. Headphones kind of hid my pain as well.” She was shifting through some sheet music, shoving a piece of paper in my hands.
“Don’t go breaking my heart?” She asked, giving me puppy dog eyes. Confusion twisted my face, giggles tumbling from her lips. Her eyes twinkled excitedly, a goofy grin dancing across her face.
“I won’t break your heart.” I promised with an uncertain tone in my voice, her hand covering her mouth. “What is so funny?” Tilting her head, she pointed to the song title. Scarlet burned my cheeks, a stiff laugh tumbling from my lips.
“You look really sexy embarrassed.” She teased playfully, her lips pressing against mine hungrily. “We can even choreograph a dance to it. My dream has always been to dance with this man in my dreams which I have reason to believe he was always you this whole time. Am I right?” My lips twitched, her sharp observation alarming me. Did she know how long I had been watching?
“How did you know?” I stammered awkwardly, rubbing the back of my neck. “How long have you known?” Tucking her hands behind her back, she shifted uncomfortably. Was this how she was when she was happy? Her warm smile made her more angelic than before, my heart fluttering.
“If you have the same dream every night you become familiar with the sound of a voice.” She expressed sweetly, pecking me on the cheek. “Every now and then you would accidentally speak. As for the alone part, you don’t need to worry about that anymore. You have me for now on. So whenever you need company, then hold onto me, okay! There should be no more pain in our lives. I love you, Devil.” My cheeks flushed scarlet, her arms wrapping around my neck. Melting into her arms, the bell rang. The smell of lilies drifted up my nose, she let go of me. Her hands dragged me to the next class. Stopping at the boy’s locker room, she sprinted into the girl’s locker room. The whistle blew, my cock grew hard. The blue shorts she was wearing were hugging her ass, the blue sports bra emphasizing her breasts. All of the girls stared at me, the black t-shirt hugging my chest, the shorts going to the length of my knees. Her pigtails swayed as she chased after a ball of some sort, an orange ball flew into my face. The room spun around me, the last thing I saw was her face hovering over me.
