I wake up the next morning not even remembering going to sleep. I couldn't get the memory out of my mind. Why was mom hitting Freak and why don't I remember it. None of it made sense, Mom never even hit me so I couldn't imagine her hitting anyone. I hear mom calling me down for breakfast and I flinch which I never done before. Its just a fake memory Freak planted to get in your head. I head done stairs and my mom kissing me on the forehead which makes my whole body shake. What is wrong with me its not real. Mom notices me flinching and asks "Whats wrong Darling? You've never flinched before". I look up at her and look over at Dad. He looks equally worried. "It's fine Mom. Just had a nightmare thats all". Mom looks at Dad worried and he goes back to reading his newspaper. Why are they acting so weird? I sit down for breakfast and I ask Dad if he'll play outside with me again. He looks slightly annoyed but smiles and agrees. After I eat my breakfast I walk over to my calendar and mark over another day closer to Christmas. I smile as I go get ready to go outside in my room, but as soon as I'm around the corner though I hear Mom talking to Dad. Their voices are really quiet so I can't hear them very well. I'm sure it's nothing and they are just worried about me. They are probably just surprised because I haven't had a nightmare since I was a kid. I'm a big girl now though I don't get nightmares anymore. At least..not till Freak showed up. I spend most of the day playing outside in the snow outside and playing with my parents who were asking a lot about my dreams to make sure I'm doing ok. We head outside and immediantly I feel a chill down my spine. It's oddly not from the cold, its from the woods. The woods always made me uncomfortable but the tree is the worse. The tree doesn't particually look weird its just this feeling of uneasiness I get from it. I can never place why so I just avoid the tree. As I'm distracted I'm hit in the back of the head by a snowball and look over to see dad holding another snow ball balling it up quickly to hit me again. I quickly pick up some snow and we started our annual, unoffical snow ball fight. After playing in the snow with Dad all day it's 7 o'clock and my mom greets us with hot chocolate and marshmellows. We sit by the fireplace andplay our favorite board games. Soon though it's 10 o' clock again and my parents send me to bed. I lay in bed and can't sleep a wink thinking about the dangers I'll face tonight. I wait until the house is really quiet and than I get up. If I'm gonna make it through another night and get this over with...I'm gonna need protection.
