Sinners will be forgiven
Romans 12:17-21
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
- Miss, do you perhaps like this locality? I have been driving you here
quite a lot recently.
- Hmm, does it seem so? – Ave asked the driver while getting out of the car.
- Do you perhaps have a lover? – She jolt up and instantaneously looked at him. – Ah, I didn’t mean to… - He was interrupted by her giggles covered by her palm.
- It is dangerous to be alone in the middle of the night in this area… - He tried warning her.
- Thank you for the concern but I am meeting a friend.
- If it is so, I am relieved. – The man exclaimed. – Now if you will excuse me. – Ave nodded and the car left. It was going to be a long night. From here she had to walk five blocks to get to the desired destination.
- And be careful.
- Yes, don’t get hysterical and lose control of the car, ma’am. –Georgio snickered with an innocent expression, tapping the roof of the car as he looked through the open window. He and Leo were seeing Ave off.
- I will make sure. – Ave said back with a sweet smile. –After I run you over, of course. – An irritation mark had formed along with her smile. – Don’t worry too much. – She was looking at Leo. –I will be fine. – She started lifting the window and they stepped aside, Georgio waving as she set off.
“I literally left two idiots alone…They will manage themselves but the fact Leo is alone… Gotta take that off my head for now...” Her thoughts were loud and clear echoing in her head. “What is the boss about, though? It can’t be just anything, I wouldn’t be handed any mission just available...” It wasn’t curiosity necessarily; it did not make her anxious.
“I am going home too often… I may get attached.” She almost snickered at
the thought. She knocked on the same door Leo did just a few days ago. The mood
was definitely different.
- You summoned me? – She tried to state but it rather came out as a question. She did not receive an answer so she sat down.
“It is going to be one of those long nights, huh?” She thought getting ready for what was about to come.
- Pagolo’s death is requested. – The Don muttered finally. Ave had to force back her shock. What was that now? And so straightforward on top of that.
- May I inquire on what circumstances? – She did not really mind killing the bastard but… well, they’d see. The Don gave his right hand a look and then averted his gaze back to her.
- Betrayal. – He stated nonchalantly. She raised an eyebrow. Was he not a traitor already? Maybe not from some other point of view.
- He is accused for what exactly? – She asked not for her to know but to know how to justify her actions.
- Well… - The Don lit up a cigar. - It seems that he had sent a spy in our East restaurant. – Her eyes widened so little but she managed to recover before anyone noticed.
- So the Caravella are making a move first? – She speculated.
- Not quite so… - Her eyebrow jerked up.
- If not announcing a war, how do you interpret this? – She was getting mad over there. Were they perhaps…
- I think you know what that means… - The Don spoke slowly with a pause. She waiting patiently, anticipating… She wanted to make sure. – He tried to do it on his own. The guy admitted everything.
- Is it an execution mission? – Was all she had to ask after a long pause filled with silence. He nodded looking at his desk.
- You have no deadline for this one so execute it whenever you find suitable. – He gave his final instructions and stood before the big window again. She gritted her teeth and clenched her dress in her fists. She opened her mouth a little hesitantly.
- When I am done, can I join the smuggling team? - It sounded more like a pleading. The Don blew smoke and smirked; then shrugged.
- Do as you please. – He declared his final decision. - That was enough for now. However, her debt was getting bigger and bigger. At this point, maybe giving her life would not be enough to pay it back.
It had been a long time before she had last worn those clothes. If it
weren’t for her status she would have burned it to ashes the moment after using
it for the first time. But it had proven itself useful thorough the years. A
dagger on her left thigh, a gun on the waist and brass knuckles – surprisingly
all she needed for tonight.
A promise from once upon a time that she could not keep, breaking it once again today. If she were to be frank, she did feel guilty about it day in and day out. Even so…
12:38 a.m. – the car comes in and leaves him home
12:45 a.m. – he is in his office, second floor on the right side of the mansion
1:40 – he crosses the corridor and gets to his bedroom
1:42 – bedroom, putting the lights off
NB: rarely any guards; stumbled on them 2/7 nights.
So tomorrow night might be good. The tree was not comfortable anyway.
