A black haired girl leaned against the doorframe of the opened greenhouse double doors, her arms crossed as she stared fondly at the boy further inside the room. The shorter boy was hovering over a pot with a plant inside. She silently observed as the boy gently removed the plant from the pot before placing it down softly on the table he was working on. As the younger boy worked, the black haired girl admired him.
Soft beams of light poured in through the glass walls of the greenhouse, coating the younger boy’s white curly hair making it seem softer while his warm brown skin seemed to glow under the sunlight. If anyone else saw the boy like this, they would be further under the impression that he was a sweet, and bright person. An adorable little sweetheart that could cause no harm and whose smile could melt your heart.
The older girl smiled, one that could steal anyone’s heart, at the thought. She laughed softly, her red eyes narrowing, knowing that there was much more to the younger boy than what meets the eye. If only the other students knew the truth about the boy. The entire time, the younger boy was intently focused on his task, almost ignoring the older girl behind him. However he paused after hearing her laughter.
“What is so funny?” The white curly haired boy asked, shooting a curious glance with his blue-yellow eyes behind himself at the older girl.
The older girl in return gave the younger boy a loving smile, leaving her place from the doorway to walk over to him until she was close enough to hug him.
“I was just thinking about you, my beloved.”The older girl raised a hand to pet the soft curly hair of the younger and shorter boy.
The blue-yellow eyes on the sweet innocent looking face of the younger boy narrowed at her but he did not stop her from petting him.
“Well it’s not like you have anything better to do with your life.” The younger boy said, letting out a hum before focusing his attention back to the plant, ignoring the older girl again.
In the beginning of their relationship, the older girl would have been offended by the dismissive attitude of her beloved. However over time she has gotten used to his behavior towards her and wasn’t fazed at all by the lack of attention. After all, to the older girl, it meant she simply had to try harder to win her beloved’s affections and she had no problem in doing so.
“Everything else in my life is pointless. Everything except you, you're my only exception, Augustis.” The older girl said, with a sweet smile gracing her face, her red eyes filled with a mixture of love and infatuation as she hugged the boy from behind.
It wasn’t the first time she declared her affections to the younger boy nor would it be the last. The older girl simply enjoyed reminding the younger boy, not wanting him to forget it especially when he was acting dismissive of her.
Augustis did not respond to her or react to the hug. Instead he picked up the battered body of a dead squirrel that was on the table. Earlier the older girl had found the squirrel injured out in the forest and used the bottom of her hunting rifle to send it off to sleep. She happily brought it to her beloved and in reward the older girl got to witness her beloved’s smile.
It wasn’t his usual heart melting smile, no, it was one big smile of joy and happiness. A smile the older girl would only see on the boy when something was dead, hurt or near death. It was a smile that sent chills down her spine but would also fill her with joy, knowing she was the only person to witness that side of him.
Augustis proceed to bury the dead animal inside the soil. Once it was deep enough, he replanted his plant inside the pot. The older girl watched the entire process in interest with her chin resting on top of his white curly head. Though she couldn't see his face, the older girl knew the younger boy was smiling again as he continued working on other potted plants.
